So this week was to create an asymmetrical outfit for a night out on the town for their target market. I loved the inspiration, which was naked people. The boys called it art in the purest form!! The contestants' faces were priceless. They were allowed to use shape, form, color and elongated lines as inspiration from their models. I thought picking their models was a great idea and the panic was awesome.
I also like that in this episode they really showed the designers and the experts talking and brainstorming on what they are going to do. Another great thing about this show was whoever wins gets immunity from the next elimination which is a relief. I get Louanna using the brown suede for the color of the model as inspiration but it didn’t go with her collection or for an outfit at night. Even Dan asked what makes her outfit night and she seemed a bit stunned in the design room. I think she didn’t understand the challenge and the reality is she didn’t have vision of where her girl was going. She also knew her design wouldn’t work and scared she was going to be eliminated. Merle and Thai were onto something good, I liked where her outfit was going and that it could be for 2 events. Even Thai was finally getting stressed out with Merle. I think that an evening dress turned into a cocktail dress is a genius idea.
Vanessa is not my favorite person by far, but I have to say then when I caught the rerun tonight I was appalled that her line was dropped.
She received criticism one every show from something crazy, and I honestly did not expect her to win, yet, on the other hand it was shocking for her to be dropped because of the pockets on her dress? I mean I know PLENTY of women who like accenting part of their bodies in that manner. I personally LOVE the pockets, no I don’t think that I would wear that color on the streets, but the pockets were gorgeous!
I am also taken aback when I saw that Eric who made a fatal mistake in listening to his professional instead of going with his instinct should not have been rewarding. If anyone was going to be dropped I honestly do think that Eric should have been. Like said on the show, his outfits are triplets.
I thought Vanessa's dress was adorable. The pockets accenting the hips are appropriate on a young woman with a nice figure. Maybe the judge's are just targeting an older demographic, or just don't understand younger women?
Are you kidding??? Not one of my girlfriends from a size 0 and up want their hips shown off, and that's just what those pockets does. Additionally, she never really played with other materials. Just to name one of her designing flaws. Her design experience or maybe it's just her vision is just too limited.
Are YOU kidding all the viewers?!? Her vision is just too limited?!? Have you even been watching the show? Vanessa is the only designer that doesn't know the meaning of limitation and I praise her for that! I love Vanessa and I enjoyed watching everything she designed because everyone else is such a snooze fest. If I wanted to see boring clothes, I can just walk down the street.
As for Eric, I'm sorry, not only should have he gone home but he should have been disqualified for being the only designer on the show not designing his line! Is this not called "launch MY line"????!!!!!! He doesn't deserve to be there when every other designer is working hard to design their OWN line, regardless of what anyone likes or dislikes.
I'm actually quite disappointed that the judges would allow such dishonesty to occur in a competition.
I actually love Vanessa's style, I think she is the most out of the box designer. I really dislike that the panel constantly bashes her style. Just because they love the "Ule, Project Runway" style of that high waist, beach look, doesn't mean everyone does. I'm sick of the Miami/Cougar look. Grosssss! I absolutely loved that gold dress, and the big hip thing?? Hello, that is so Vivienne Westwood and Amazing! As a woman, I would hands down where that dress. Having hips is sexy...I love the emphasis on something everyone tries so hard to cover up. I absolutely think she is the most Avant Garde designer there.
Omg! Vanessa being eliminated for pockets is unrealistic! She should have gotten eliminated for her second peice with the ugly matching patterns in every which corner of the garment.
Pockets on skirt and dresses are very popular right now. Maybe not exactly gold but the dress was adorable and it had potential to be a very popular peice!
I don't think Lisa Kline has any right to comment on Vanessa's dress seeing as alot of her own clothing that she sells is very edgy, funky kind of like what Vanessa is all about! The dress was cute and I think Vanessa will be very popular on or off the show.
I loved Vanessa's outfit and know plenty of people that would love it to. She has a strong vision and I cannot wait for her clothing line to come out! To be honest the judges in this show seem unoriginal and arbitrary, I am surprised they are supposedly so successful. Bravo pick better judges next season!
