Stefani Greenfield

"Lady Gaga - I am beyond impressed with and inspired by you."

on Jan 6, 20100

Evolving and dissolving... By this point in the competition the remaining initial teams of strangers have forged tight relationships and partnerships. Some we may have expected to implode (Roberto + Patrick) have blossomed. Others who started off well (Jim+ Louanna, Kathy + Emil) continue to thrive personally and with their collections. Marilyn and Coco just could not "get it together." No matter how focused Marilyn's "eye was on the prize,"  their lack of synergy on every level led to their elimination.

While watching what went down between Marilyn and Coco, I was shocked and disappointed, as well as in their garment. We were there to judge a line, not individual(s), so I shall leave my personal opinions of what I find professional or not to myself. What I will address is what everyone who is going to be pissed we dropped Marilyn's collection should keep in mind. The show is called LAUNCH MY LINE, not LAUNCH MY LOOK. Lily Remarkable did not tell a story. It was a book with a few interesting chapters.

I am outraged that Marilyn line was dropped and Patrick's was safe. She clothes were beautiful and classy dispite the unprofessional, uncooperative designer she had to work with. I blame the show producer for keeping her on and not giving Marilyn a real chance.

Patrick's line looked like halloween costumes. I cannot imagine any ordinary woman wearing his line for any occasion other than halloween. His line is more appropriate to be worn on stage like in the musical Cabaret. Stephani kept saying that she can see a customer for his line. I have serious doubts about Stephani's expertise in fashion and tastes. It needs work.

I was extremely disappointed in the outcome of the last show. How obvious was it that Coco in her frustration and insecurity in dealing with a strong personality with very definite and good ideas, purposely did almost everything in her power to hurt Marilyn's chances of advancing. Even her parting remarks were snide and insincere.

It is quite unfortunate that that situation was not nipped in the bud after the first show. She should not have been allowed to continue. It seems that the negative drama caused by Coco was more important to the producers than giving each person a fair chance to show their talent. Marilyn's collection was beautiful and absolutely marketable. Even the disapproval of the last piece by the judges was not enough to drop her line. There were some pretty gauche items presented by some of the designers that still remain. Was someone indebted to Coco?

I am so elated that I wasn't the only one to see the truth about coco, better known as COO-COO! It is obvious that Patrick was saved because of what he and the twins have in common..... I believe Patrick is what the twins would like to look and be like if they didn't have to look the part of TV hosts. At elimination they said Marilyn's pre-cut applique on her dress looked cheap. Patrick's whole dress looked cheap like a walmart halloween costume. Having said all that I am not against patrick. I feel sorry for him because just like marilyn he has a crazy selfish so-called "expert" I would love to see him partnered with a sane team-player. Good luck Patrick. And to the twins stop playing favorites... we aren't blind!!!!!!!!!

Coco was unprofessional and a pain in the you know what. Marilyn was a class act though. Personally, this show leaves alot to be desired from Project Runway.

Hi Stefani, I think you're cool! Please give a shout out to my new fave designers, Dean and Dan. I'm enjoying their show very much because of them. They tend to give the funniest expressions at the work tables! I like everything about them, and I'm glad the format is different from PR. Great show guys! Come back next season! --new ds2 fan, Houston--

I have to agree with the majority regarding Marilyn being booted off the show. Her vision was for a line of fashionable clothes for the average woman. I think that if a person is given an expert designer, that expert should be able to capture the essence of your vision and come up with something comparable to your vision. Sadly. Coco wasn't the expert here! Not to change the subject, I honestly don't see why Patrick is still on the show, his dresses are horrible! Good luck to you Marilyn, you will be missed! xoxo

Everyone keeps talking about how awful coco was to Marilyn, when in truth, Marylin expected too much of her. Threatening to leave was a little over the top, yeah, but Marilyn had it coming to her. Coco trys people; everyone should see that and realize that!

Marilyn's line was lovely and I would have bought her designs, as would have many of my friends. However, we are not celebrities; we are just professionals with purchasing power.

Coco was a petulant child who had no business in this competition. She was clearly an albatross around Marilyn's neck and no amount of compromise on Marilyn's part was going to appease Coco's egocentric, unprofessional, uncooperative personality. Yes, I too called you uncooperative Coco and I would have fired you the first day you walked out.

Get with it Launch My Line! This was a failure of the "expert" not the designer. If you are going to choose the "experts", it seems only reasonable that they have teamwork capabilities otherwise what is the point. You might as well call yourself "Sabotage My Line".

I love your work Stefani and your comments on the garments are usually right on. I am confused though about the choice of the winning dress out of the top two choices. The Dynamic Duo of Louanna and Jim had the best creation of the season on the runway Wednesday. That dress was classy, elegant and marketable. It displayed superior workmanship compared to the Disco Dress. The in-set wishbone and the elegance of the sleeves envoked feelings of romance. It was far better than the disco dress. The disco dress did use the red fabric well, granted. But in watching the show a second time Dean or Dan instructed the teams to use as much of it or as little of it as they wanted. If any of the teams only used a little of the red material it should not have been held against them. Watch out for Jim and Louanna!!!

Stephani, So what story does Patrick's line tell?

I find it odd and interesting that Patrick's gown from Episode 5 apparently did not rate very high with viewers. Not having watched the whole episode, I'm not aware of the judges' comments on the purple/burgundy dress - and while I truly did *not* care for the outer black net overlay, the underlying dress was tops in my view. THAT is something I would spend significant funds to purchase. Thus far, I can't say that about 95% of the designs that have been produced by all the contestants.

Every industry has its own language. Most of us cannot converse with doctors, lawyers, automechanic, etc,in their lingo. Its the same with fashion. And as a "expert"fashion designer, Ms CooCoo,should have been able to ferret the desires of Marilyns designs and execute them. To bad,Ms CooCoo,you have altered the way the world sees you and may need to find another occupation. Lots of luck Marilyn, the Gods are with you, your designs were great.

Ancie, your comments are right on target. After we get past Coco, the producers saw what was happening and did nothing, they did nothing because that wanted drama for television -- I get that -- to do that at another human beings expense and possibly money/career etc. is nasty. BRAVO/Launch my Line really do need to rethink the parameters of this show. The fact that Marilyn was eliminated when she gave into Coco says it all. Marilyn you are a class act!!! Coco's needs therapy -- I suspect she has other issues but I will not open up that can of worms. Oh yeah -- Patrick!!!??????

I am LIVID that YOU and the other JUDGES sided with COCO.

THere is NO WAY in the REAL WORLD (of which YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY prever NOT TO DALLY IN) that her unprofessional behavior would be tolorated!

I am a artist/business owner. And for the record, I fire people like 'COCO' all the time!

I am appalled therefore by YOU and the other 'judges' rewarding the unprofessional attitude that COCO displayed in CONTINUELLY sabatoging HER DESIGNER.

Unlike YOU, I deal with REALITY.

And the reality of the situation is that if COCO worked for Mizrahi, Korrs, or any other designer ... her incessant whining would have been rewarded with a ONE WAY TRIP to the UNEMPLOYMENT LINE!

Please know that this is the LAST episode of this show I will watch.

I am not watching this show anymore.. I am tired of the way they "over-look" certain behavior from their kind and always try to put a pretty blanket over their dirty actions. First of all - Marilyn should have been a winner at one point. Her line was consistantly great!! Mrs. Obama could have wore any of her outfits and looked flawless. The last one was pretty messy - but not the look, it was the work. Coco staighted u can't do it with out me - cause she knew her people had her back. But darling GOD has the final say and I believe you just brushed the wrong person. You watch mark my words you haven't seen the last of Marilyn and Coco u just added to her fire!! Coco who??

You guys didn't get it right again. I wish it could have come out that Coco was being destructive and psycho. The other designers worked with their expert and their expert helped to translate their vision. Coco tried her best to shut her down rather than support her. Marilyn was so professional about the situation. What goes around, comes around.

Most comments were on the money regarding Coco. She was simply there to sabotage Marilyn's line. Even when the brothers were asking Marilyn about her garment and she asked Coco if she could sketch it for them and she stared at them as if to say "who does she think she's talking to" "you do it yourself." I pray in the future you make sure that there be a fair playing ground for everyone. Coco acted as if she was bipolar or had ADD. Personally I think she made herself look like a fool; I would give a child more credit. Her rants and tantrums took valuable time away from the essence of the show. Coco GROW UP!!

Yes, Kathy, we were watching the same show.

First, Merle was just lucky that she had immunity for this show or she should have been the designer dropped. This design not only did not fit in with the rest of her line, it looked sloppy, ill-fitted and badly made!

Second, Marilyn came to this competition with a strong idea of what she wanted her line to look like. She may not have had the terminology to easily translate her ideas to Coco but Coco wouldn't even try to understand her. And then, while Coco was wasting time demanding that Marilyn give her another example of her uncooperation she was being uncoopertive! Who starts sewing five hours before the deadline? This was not the first time she pulled a stunt like this. It is too bad Marilyn could not sew!

Third, Marilyn struck me from the beginning as being a very savvy business woman who was only concerned with the work ... not massaging someone else's ego. Coco was a walking ego distressed that her role was constructing the garments and not designing them. She did her best to undermine Marilyn's efforts from the very beginning. Miss Prima Dona Coco wanted the show to be about her. Maybe she should have tried out for a designer position rather than an "expert" position.

If Coco worked for me in the real world she would have been looking for another job. It is too bad that Marilyn couldn't fire her and get someone else to help her with construction. And in the final minutes of the show, Marilyn showed nothing but class. She did not whine about Coco's behavior although she had every right to and she did not try to throw her partner "under the bus" as Coco did when she just happened to mention to the judges that the design was not given to her until that morning. Marilyn is a very classy lady; Coco needs to grow up!

coco was completely uncooperative, unprofessional, and selfish...she did not make the slightest effort to try and interpret what marilyn's vision was...all of the others had designers that seemed to want to be there and truly help...coco seemed distracted by personal matters and "f"ed up marilyn's chances...coco seemed vindictive...she seemed like she purposely sabbotaged the last challenge...marilyn clearly stated what she wanted the dress to look like in well enough time to put it together...marilyn settled in order to appease coco at the last second...she sacrificed her dream just to have a mere showing on the runway...coco made a clear threat more than once and i am disappointed that noone stepped in....i sew a tiny bit and i could have sewn the dress that marilyn invisioned...coco probably didn't like the fact that marilyn has more talent than she seems to have since she couldn't "see" what marilyn was talking about...quite honestly it is obvious that the network is looking for flare rather than talent...the blonde ding-bat should've been eliminated the first week and without a doubt the second week just as patrick should've been eliminated much earlier as well...he certainly can dress himself but for the sake of "?", he has no idea what looks good on a woman...coco only cried because marilyn was actually right!!!!!!the TRUTH HURTS!!!! coco was very uncooperative!!!

I am disappointed that the judges allowed Coco to sabotage Marilyn and stood back and did nothing. The experts should have been rotated. I doubt if this show will have a second season. Strange concept. Marilyn good luck, your concept is actually a good one, I hope you find a backer.

I was appalled at the behavior of Coco and feel that she totally threw Marilyn under the bus, from the first episode on. She pouted, made faces, acted like a spoiled child, did everything possible to undermine Marilyn. I think it is absolutely outrageous that the producers let her get away with this crap and as a result Marilyn went home because she was teamed up with a temperamental pain in the butt. Good luck to you Marilyn I was pulling for you all the way!!

How sad it was to see Marilyn work so hard at trying to communicate her ideas to someone so unresponsive. Coco seemed to sabotage Marilyn at every turn. I wonder what would have happened to Marilyn's line had she had another expert working, with her. Marilyn is quite talented and I certainly can appreciate a line of clothing designed with the " average " woman in mind!!

Benda

CoCo was so passive agressive. She was negative and snide. I would have loved to see Marilyn paired with a better partner. I guess, if you have to deal with a nut like CoCo, you're screwed. It's obvious that the guy continued because his weired way of presenting himself is fodder for the cameras. He'll probably be one of the last to go.

Ancie

Marilyn's line should not have been dropped, her "expert" should have been dropped. Each week Marilyn had to push and insist that Coco execute Marilyn's vision. It was not an issue of Marilyn not being able to express her vision, it was an issue of Coco not wanting to execute and produce what Marilyn wanted. Every week Coco tried to change the product into what she wanted, but Marilyn held fast to her idea, with a successful result. The first time, however, Marilyn gave in to Coco's idea and not her own,failure/elimination. What is also so disheartening is that the hosts were told point blank by Coco, that she did not want to be there, but instead of replacing her and making sure the playing field was level, the producers, etc. allowed the class act that was Marilyn to be taken out by the saboteur that was Coco....not cool Launch my Line!

Launch my line is always great with such talent. The designs are so beautiful and the hosts are fun to watch. It must be very hard to do the eliminations. Keep up the good work. This show reminds me of my high school sewing class and style show of our individual work and it was not easy. Our teacher is long gone from this earth, but her legacy lives on for all the good things she taught us-mainly how to sew and cook great things.

Thanks for your opinion here. However, it really doesn't clarify the basic concept as I understand it: Patrick's line may be cohesive, but none of the judges either liked them or could see anyone else liking them! Marilyn's pieces were all fitting a niche that would appeal to an audience out HERE! Therefore, it seems the judges kept Patrick around for laughs or drama or both.

Was I watching the same show as the rest of you?

I feel so sorry for Coco - she was constantly put down and ridiculed by Marilyn. She tried to do what Marilyn wanted, but Marilyn wasn't clear in her efforts and was nasty in the way that she treated Coco. She also critized how slow she felt Coco was working but pointed out a number of times in the last few weeks that she knew absolutely nothing about sewing - so how could she say what she did about the sewing process when she was totally clueless herself?

I am surprised that COCO didn't leave the first time she was ditzed by Marilyn. Nobody likes to be talked down to like Marilyn did to her. I liked Marilyn's line, but was NOT supportive of the way she treated her expert. This was supposed to be a team effort and as such it was a team failure - I for one, am glad that Marilyn is gone. Marilyn should not have been sent home because of the unprofessional attitudes and actions of her dysfunctional seamstress. Sad to say, I've worked with a few people like Coco and no amount of kindness will turn someone like that away from sabotaging a project if they see fit. Better to get rid of them and move, which is what the producers should have done if they are serious about having a level playing field.

EJP
EJP

I was also sad to see Marilyn go, although I was happy when she finally told Coco "you say this every week." I hope that if she revisits this, she will learn enough about the process to have more control and not be so reliant on a flaky designer.

BTW - I do understand Coco's frustration with Marilyn's vagueness, but sometimes the "expert" has to learn to work with the client to draw out the meaning. I think most designers will working with a client be it an investor or an actress up for an Oscar. If you can't communicate with a client, then you will be losing some good opportunities to market designs.

Meanwhile, I think Marilyn will be doing quite well. She's both classy and has a vision.

Stefani, Are we looking at the same line? Clearly, Marilyn's line told a story..the story of a non-zero sized professional woman. Her designs were AWESOME, to say the least. ALL women of ALL sizes would look good in her dresses. Elegant, classy, sophisticated..and I could go on! It's sad that she was paired with CoCo. Clearly, CoCo had sewing skills because she could sew a dress together in half the time of others but why was it always down to the wire? And with so much drama? The last show turned into Marilyn being CoCo's counselor because CoCo was acting CooCoo! Why didn't the producers or someone step in and just kick CoCo off the show and replace her with another expert? 20 of the 25 hours was spent with Marilyn counseling CoCo! CoCo made it clear that Marilyn needed her to win...by sabotoging the quality of the dress. She even smiled when they were in the bottom two. You could almost hear her saying, "I told you you needed ME Marilyn [insert wicked laugh]." Of course, she needed you..but CoCo needs to learn how to work as a teamplayer.

Marilyn, if you're reading this, please LAUNCH YOUR LINE. I have a long list of friends interested in your dresses. You are classy and so are your designs!

Kudos to Marilyn Crawford! You deserve to win the show!!

I do recognize that the show is named Launch my Line, however, as part of the selection process of choosing both the designer and the professional, I personally feel that when there is clearly an attitude of non cooperation another professional should be selected, as we all witnessed Coco came with a lot of drama and it also appeared that she event smiled at the end, which also appeared that she completed her mission, to receive recognition for her past work and wanting to be in the spotlight, I strong believe she should switch to acting because she surely should be nominated for frustrating Marilyn throughout this whole competition and for that reason, Marilyn and Patrick should return one day based on the lack of cooperation from the so call professionals unprofessional contribution or lack there of. Please keep in mind I am aware that both Patrick and Marilyn may need to strengthen their skills to prevent some level of manipulation of any contractor or direct worker/employee. Otherwise, good luck with the show and next season the host must step up and address the commitment of all participate, I remember that being a trait of the past host. Again, good luck on future seasons.

It was absolutely obvious that Coco sabotaged Marilyn's success. Although it was true that Marilyn was not as articulate expressing specifics as Coco would have liked, Coco refused to bring anything to the table, and often walked away. Sometimes to understand what a person is trying to say one has to lead the way, Give the person choices to point them into a direction. How hard is that? It's easy to get to what people want just by a process of elimination. The answer is there, but sometimes it's just takes a little digging. Marilyn obviously wasn't as versed as "the expert," but it was apparent that she is a good manager and was making a consistent effort to "make it work," (as she said.) Coco...a melodramatic, oversensitive, obstacle under pressure. Ouch.

Ranah
Ranah

Well, Stefani, if the show is called "Launch My Line" and not "Launch My Look" then every remaining contestant might as well be sent home. None of them can sketch or sew. They all simply have a "vision." Their expert is there to help that vision blossom into a reality. However, I understand that as the competition continues, the elimination process will get harder. And of the two dresses in the bottom two (Patrick's and Marilyn's) Patrick's was a better, more fashion forward dress. His dress was hot, but as mentioned, the fabric cheapened it. Someone asked who would wear it. I think alot of celebs would wear it. I can see Rihanna or Beyonce wearing it. I think even an ordinary person may wear it. But back to Marilyn. Overall, her line was BEAUTIFUL. And she was sabotaged by a jealous, tempermental coo coo for coco puffs, so called expert.

Nescafe
Nescafe

C'mon Steph, if no one wants to wear the line, what is the point of launching it? Patrick had one cohesive mess. At least Marilyn had some purchasable garments.

Patrick's line looks like the night of the living dead on crack.

And let's not talk about Madame Coco, she behaved as if she were the queen of fashion design. Marilyn was very nice, because I would have fired her the first day she walked out of the work room. I would rather go out on my own merit than on a highminded just knows enough about design to get your attention wanna be fashion design expert. And frankly, you or the show should speak out about her attitude and behavior because she was wrong to behave that way. The departing comments saying she (Coco) was a team player was a big fat bold faced lie. She did not work in concert with her designer; every turn was a struggle for Marilyn. Her job was to help make the vision, design and construction of the garment meet the expectation of the Designer launching their line. Coco was very self-absorbed. This was Marilyn's dream and she was too gracious to speak badly about Coco. Better her than me!!!

Coco You Should Be Ashamed

That was very sad. Coco should have just walked off the show verse being the enemy! That behavior will come back and bit her when she least expects it. She was suppose to have been the expert to help and she did everything to make sure they lost. She even smiled during the judging when the comment was negative. You are in business and what goes around comes around! I hope your motive was really to help and not hurt!
