Just as we were recovering from Selena Gomez's big November 2017 beauty news — she has a blonde lob, people! — the singer went and made another big change. Well, so we think. In a nutshell, a recent Instagram snap makes it look like Gomez gave her gorgeous lob a lavender tint, but we can't be totally sure. This is a quandary, indeed!
Let's review the photo evidence. On December 13, Gomez's makeup artist Hung Vanngo posted a snap of his pop-star client. Vanngo was right to be proud of his work: Gomez's smoky eye and nude lip make for the date-night look of our dreams. And, her subtly highlighted skin has a pearly glow. Dreamy, all around.
But, take a closer look at the singer's hair. It appears that the bottom half of her locks have a new, light-purple tint. Is this a dye job? Or, is it merely a photo illusion, caused by a reflection from Gomez's lilac-hued top?
The snap also tags stylist Danilo, but the hair pro has made no mention of lavender dye on his social-media feed. The same goes for Gomez's stylist Kate Young, who posted the same snap with the simple caption "last shoot of the year." And, yes, we scoped Gomez's feed as well. No dice.
While this mystery remains in the air, at least we have a visual of what Gomez would look like with pastel locks. And, just as purple highlights suited Nicole Richie, the style looks enchanting on Gomez as well.
While platinum blonde seemed to be the unofficial hair color of 2017, we're wondering if purple hair will become a larger thing in 2018. After all, Pantone did select Ultra Violet as the color of the year. Hmm ...
