Episode 1: Bravotv.com's Assistant Editor can't stand the sight of shoe carnage.
He's baaack! Everyone's favorite fiercely fanciful designer is opening up his studio to the world, and we couldn't be more thrilled. I don't know about you, but I'm all about over-the-top, more-is-more kind of fashion (I'll add one accessory before I leave my apartment, thank you very much), so seeing Chris create his crazy costume couture is a sheer delight.
While all you Runway fans are familiar with Chris, you may not be so familiar with his team. Luckily this handy dandy video will catch you up to speed.
Chris' client, famed footwear guru Ruthie Davis, wants a Bond Girl-esque look for the launch of her new line. Honestly I'm not sure how Chris whipped up a sketch so fast (take a closer look at it HERE), since Bond girls are generally known for taking off, not putting on, clothes. But in any event, Chris' be-shoed dominatrix look was amazing.
I was kind of hoping they'd come up with a cool Bond girl name to acompany the outfit. Personally I was thinking Stiletta Vanderpump.
They could have just called it a day with this, right? I kid, I kid! But I won't lie, I was a little worried when I gazed upon Chris' first pass at incorporating shoes into Ruthie's look. Clearly there was a ways to go.
What would cause Izzy to wince in horror? The highest form of fashion sacrilege -- shoe slaughter! Izzy, the world looked away with you at the moment Matt cut into those heels. It was more gruesome than Saw V. OK, perhaps that's a bit of an exaggeration. Less gruesome, but certainly more sad.
It couldn't be more fitting that Chris' muse is Go Your Own Way chanteuse Stevie Nicks. How much would you love to see him design a gypsy/wiccan inspired piece for Stevie? I imagine it would involve lots of little tamborines.
The final result was a true "shoegasm" as the title of this episode suggests. Ruthie really rocked the look, and she couldn't deny that the outfit was way better with all the shoe accents. However I couldn't help but wonder, "How will she sit in this dress?" In those intense pumps, I'd think she'd need to be able to sit every now again. But hey, she's a shoe designer, so walking around in super high heels must be second nature.
