Season 2
Season 1
Sigh.
So … this is the week that I go home.
Yeah, so I spoiled the ending. I didn’t want all of my fans to ruin their keyboards with all their tears when they reach the dramatic conclusion of this entry and learn the bad news. So I’m putting it out there now. I go home. It’s lame.
This week started with another long drive through the country to get to our photo shoot. Earlier we speculated that we’d be working with animals based on the message left on the computer. When we arrived at the stables it was pretty obvious we’d be working with farm animals. Central VA ain’t the most urban place in the world. I’ve been around cows and horses and such, so I won’t be weirded out or anything by the novelty of a large animal.
The steer I ended up working with was a pretty difficult partner. I was supposed to look rugged and masculine with an animal that was alternatingly lazy and stubborn. Also, my outfit (while being totally cowboy-esque) kind of made me look like a dandy. I tried to compensate by working hard with the steer to try and convey motion and strength.
When I saw my picture I figured the judges would either love it or be bored with it. During the shoot I was all over the place giving a variety of poses and whatnot. I feel like my picture did one of the best jobs out of everyone as far as accomplishing what was asked of us and telling a cowboy story. However, if the judges want to find fault with it (because, I mean, I don’t exactly look good in the photo, a problem, potentially) they will. I thought in the very least that the judges would like that I continue to diversify my portfolio and try new things instead of rely on just kinda lookin pretty (like some unnamed models who remain). Alas, we know how this story ends.
I put a lot of pressure on myself for this catwalk. It’s really impossible for me to convey to you, dear reader, how tense I felt before stepping in front of the judges. Walking for practice and even in Montreal was so much easier. I don’t know what it is about the panel that sucks out my ability to just play it cool and walk. A fear of elimination that outweighed the excitement of how awesome the clothes are? Probably. But I think the judges read it as insecurity, which isn’t entirely true. It’s ironic I suppose that my fear of being eliminated and subsequent clamming up on the runway ended up being the largest contributor to my being sent home. It sucks though, a lot. And I feel like the look this week was perfect for me. What can I say? I kind of blew it.
My experience on the show is over. Time to switch on the sentimentalism. I can’t overstate how incredible everything has been. I never expected something like this to happen to me and I’m very grateful.
Alright, enough of that. Time to think about the future. I’m definitely not done with either school or modeling. I’m not quite sure what the timing for each is though. I still have a lot to learn about the fashion industry and I look forward to doing it without those pesky cameras recording my every mistake. Until this whole thing started, I hadn’t even thought that I could be a model. Now that I know that I can, and that I like it, I can’t wait to pursue it. This was a good first step. Actually, I would say this was more like a good first couple of steps.
Sigh.
We had some good times.
Tootles.
XOXO
Colin
I was rooting for you the entire time. One look at you and there's no doubt that you're a supermodel, even if you do have some things you need to work. Eh... you're young, there's always time to learn :)
Best of luck!
Collin,
Every episode you made me smile and laugh. You were the most attractive on the show by far and the sweetest and smartest. Oh.. and if you read these comments at all, I'm coming to Carleton this summer to visit as a potential college for me cause I'm going to St. Olaf for a music camp... are you going to be there? Since I first saw you on Make me a supermodel I really really wanted to meet you!! haha my friend and I have our own fan club and we had a little sad session when you got voted off. I don't know if there's any way for you to get in touch with me, but me being a huge fan, please can you try? =( please?
You are so hot but really I am surprised you made it that far. You actually turn me on with the virgin emphasis and medical school geek thing. I love hot smart guys and go to college it probably will suit you. Do some modeling on the side and hit the library. Yes hot girls are at the library and believe me you will do well.
I enjoyed you on the show and was upset when you left but I believe your strive to get better, your unique look, and your obviously likable personality will take you far no matter what you choose to do. Good luck with everything and thanks for making the show interesting.
You will always be a winner in my eyes!
much love
Colin,
I miss seeing your beautiful face and adorable personality. Come back please.

It was a mistake to send you home. I agree with some of the other blogs that you had a very interesting look. If you study more I know you will reach a cover very soon. Honestly, you have made lots of changes in your modeling for the better and you learn quickly. You should be fine. lol.... I'm sure now it's not going to be hard to find a girl friend for you.
I think you have great "planes" on your face. You just need some time to know how to photograph them best and angles. I was very excited to see how far you would get because you were the diamond in the rough. You just need some polish is all. I thought the show was about "making a supermodel" not "Finding a supermodel with experience". You are missed! Good Luck
I LOVE U COLIN!!!!!<3 if they did the voting thing like in season 1 u deffinitley would have one. You are my absoloute fave, and all the episodes after you leave suck. I hope your modeling career goes well..but trust me i dont need to hope. You're amazing enouch for anything. :)
Like most people in the industry I know the 3 models that most excited me were you, Jonathan, and Salome. All three of you have different and very marketable looks. I am sad you were taken out so soon, but hopefully this will give you a chance to do some one on one coaching and really make yourself the model you want to be,

Colin,
I think you're a super beautiful person inside and out! Pls stay true to yourself & your believes! I hope for you to live a great & happy life you will soon create!
With lot of Love,
Cynthia
Do not waste your opportunity to graduate from UVA. Beautiful people are a dime a dozen, but how may people are truly intelligent enough to make a positive difference in a world? Sure, a top notch model can be famous. It also seems like you have the classic young male problem that you only want to find the most attractive woman in the world as a mate (is that why you went out for this to begin with? Aren't there women who are both pretty AND smart at UVA? There are plenty at VT!) Personally, I'd rather be a doctor or a scientist and help millions of people. That is why I am a plant geneticist!
Regardless of the things that happen on the show, I just want to compliment you for your easy to read blog entries. You have a voice in your writing and that is something that is difficult to achieve.
hey, really bummed that yr out of the competition. it's true, you are not a natural but u've come so far dude! I think it was actually a political decision to send u home, there would have more guys than girls left. believe me, amanda would never make it and it's unjust that they kept her over u. The photographer that did the animal shoot was really awful, but she did take a great picture of u. I thought it was the best out of all of them.
I really like your sense of humor and I think you will do great whatever you decide...but I was disappointed that you like Jordan. Beware of anyone who thinks they need to tell you OVER and OVER why they hate someone. She doesn't have to like Amanda but thinking that she should sit there and say it over and over is a bad sign. Really.
OMGA!!!
i cant believe that you had to be out !! i really thought you were the best
but i guess that he judges don't know how to see the real you and they don't know how to acknowledge your personality as well as your amazing potential you have in modeling.
hope you goals come true later on in the future.
i truly think that you are the best ever and you just go and pursue your dream that you may have in mind
♥
OMGA!! i totally loved your modeling i though ou were sweet and gentle
to my point of view i think the judges didnt see the true potential you had.
hope you do pursue your goals in the future.
best luck and wishes
OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really cryed for like the passed 3days after i saw u an amanda in the bottem my heart sank cuz you 2 r my favs I SSoooooooooooooooooo wanted you to win those stupid juges i thought your pic waz fine just like you
lov ya,
miss ya,
:( XOXOXOXOXOXOXOX!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Colin, You were my fave, though I agree Sanderson is and some of the others are top notch. Agh, but you are still my fave, stole my eyes, and heart, you did. So handsome, so charming, in a boyish way. You are still so young, just need to grow a bit, experience some things. Like love, and sex, but I hope you wait for it, with love. That is the deepest growth, and you wouldn't be doing it just for the 'experience' - which sucks. LOL. I mean, whether modeling or loving, you want to go for the brass ring, first time around. Of course it doesn't always work out that way - THE FIRST TIME. But if you persist . . . focus . . . grow - with every experience, grow as a person. I think you are terrific - as a person, right now. The looks are just gifts, to explore, but not to supercede who you are already. And don't give up, modeling or school, or any other endeavours you wish to pursue. You go, Guy. Best of luck. I KNOW you will succeed - at whatever you put your mind/heart and soul into. You WILL. :-)
Hey Colin,
I am so sad to see you go!! When I saw you the first time you took my breath away. Not only do you have great looks - you also have a brain!! Those two traits don't always go hand in hand. Please don't give up on your studies to become a doctor, stick with it. Looks fade, but true character will live forever.
Have fun in the future - whatever you decide to do!! I'll miss you. :(
Colin,
You have potential. But you need to go out into the world and discover/unleash your sexuality, and discover what your true sexual preference is.
Good luck and never be afraid to be who your really are.
Colin,
From the first time I saw you, I knew, you desrved to win. In my opinion, you never had a bad week, ever! Amanda, had, wayyy too many. Why should they ever pick "Like" girl over a man who no doutably out shines everyone there! (Even the sun!) I don't care if anyone thinks this or any other message we all write is lame or desparate, I'm way to young to date you, but you still should have won! If I was a judge, on the first day I would have shouted "Ladies and Gentalmen, We have a winner." Bye Colin. Never forget your fans. Keep modleing.
I too, was shocked that you went home instead of Amanda.
Both of you should have been sent home. Go back to school and don't go around telling everyone about your sex life with what youve done and haven't done. No one cares.
I'm sad to see you go, I think you're gorgeous and had lots of potential. The choice between modeling and medicine probably won't be easy for you. I know that I considered trying to get into modeling, but I decided not to because my dream was to become a psychologist. Now that I'm studying to be a therapist and working with clients, I'm glad they don't "know" me from somewhere else. I would be thrilled to have you as my doctor (isn't that a fantasy? The hot doctor? yum!). Whatever you choose to do, I wish you much success!
Ugh, I just watched the latest episode. You were one of my favorites. It made me sad, why did you have to go home? Amanda should have left.
Lame.
Colin love, you were my complete fav from day one! I think you have the same problem I have on the catwalk, you just sort of have to take yourself away from where you are and focus on just your walk, not on anyone or anything else.
And the whole you being a virgin thing, if I wasn't already committed, I would do you. We could have naughty medical terminology foreplay lol (I'm pre med too)
Best of luck wherever life takes you!
Elegant, thoughtful, classic, intelligent and sincere, these are the word I would use to discribe Colin.
Colin, your quarkiness makes you endearing and genuine. I look forward to seeing your face on bilboards, in magazines, and on the runway. Here's to great future. I hope all your dreams com true. You deserve it.
Heyyyyy! Your glasses make you look edgy in a really hot way! Im a girl, wear glasses, and dark brown hair. What company are your glasses? I don't want the same ones but the company seems to have nice glasses. Please if you can send me a message on youtube (hotdoggie230) or email me with my junk mail so others can too.

Colin, your looks are lovely, but I admire a man far more for his brains than a wonderful face. Please go back to school for that is where you will make a differance in this world. One can't win everything in life, but winning this contest is just a Plan B for you. Jonathan has a baby and wife to support, so I hope he will win. He doesn't have the brain capacity as you do. Besides, modeling is finished at about 30 whereas if you continue on with your studies, it will be a forever job.
Good luck, Colin. Please make a good choice. Go back to the life you were meant to serve.
Colin, I LOVED you! I can not believe that they let you go over Amanda!!! The show will not be the same without you! :( You will be missed. I'm rooting for you and Jordan! (I'm her Aunt) :)
Hi, Colin. I was truly bummed to see you go home. I was also pretty shocked to see you go rather than Amanda. Amanda, I think, has grown about as much as she's going to, while you continue to get better with each assignment. I will also miss seeing your adorable face each week. I was (and still am) rooting for you. I have some words of advice for you. I'm not sure if you'll ever see this, but here goes :
You are extremely, nearly ridiculously intelligent. Because of that, you over-think each of your assignments and the directions that you're being given. I'm not saying that models can't be intelligent, because that's just not true. However, a model's job is to listen to what the client wants and mold themselves accordingly. The client, then the photographer, will do the thinking. You only need to listen to them. I know this sounds silly, but try to shut off your brain for a bit and let the photographer guide you. Also, you tend to "act out" the part that you are playing in each assignment rather than model. When you model, try to remember that it's all about the clothes and making people want them, and not about you playing a role.
I've done both acting and modeling, and it certainly isn't as easy as it looks. It's especially hard for people who don't have a background in the industry to help them. I really admire you for jumping into this thing to follow your dream. I don't know if you ever heard of Elyse Sewell, but she was a contestant on "America's Next Top Model". She was also a med student, and faced many of the same challenges you have faced in this competition. She went on to become a serious working model and is doing very well. I know you can do it, too! (^_^)
Collin!
I was literally crying
I <3 U
Collin I dont get why u had to go home...
I want you back!!!!
It sucks to hear that you were sent home!
Don't be too sad, fight for it, your model life!
Colin you were my favorite model from the beginning of the show and I was so sad when you be eliminated. I think everyone on the show is doing a great job, and the guys are all great to look at. But Colin, there is something about your look that the other guys don't have. You have that old-style handsomeness and charm, and you can definitely pursue many different areas of modeling. Modeling agencies actually would prefer someone like you over the more cocky models with attitude. You WILL get the right modeling jobs, in addition to becoming a brilliant doctor. Best of luck and stay true to who you are!!
Hey Colin,
You have no idea how bummed out I was that they sent you home. Especially after Nicole tried to save you. I have never posted anything on-line before, but you leaving has made me want to step up and let the show know that I think they made a major mistake. You have an amazing presence. And what makes you even more appealing is that you have the intellect to go along with it. Keep pursuing what you love. I'm sure that so many of us want to keep seeing you out there. The show will suck without you.
We'll miss you, you handsome hunk!
Colin!
keep going, be a doctor, a model, whatever because i'm sure you can do it all. do not lose your amazing sense of humor. plus your awkwardness is adorable. i'm glad you've been holding out for a good girl because you definitely deserve it. and obviously the right ones just haven't noticed it yet.
stay super cute! :)
Love you colin. Wow, I can't believe you hid your crush on Jordan. Wow, Jordan is one lucky girl.
Sighs, i took me some hours to compose myself before coming to grips with this shocking reality, i cant believe they chose Amanda over you, but everything happens for a reason! and i'm confident that you will succeed at whatever you decide to do. Hopefully one day u'll vacation in Barbados, although you'll run the risk of me kid-napping you, lol. Anyhow, i'm proud of u, and u did well!!
XOXO
1) I bet you didn't notice bec. you were so stressed when you were eliminated, but Nicole looked like she was going to cry/pass out! 2) Do *not* lose the self-deprecating humor!! Chicks dig it, and may I point out that you have more comments on your blog than anyone, pretty much every week?? 3) This might sound weird, but I really like your canines. They turn me on in a kind of Draculaesque way. ;-) Wishing you good luck, and expecting to see you in Polo ads in the future!
Colin. I am so sad. I just finished watching your exit interview and I love you even more. Thank you for being real. You are funny, smart, and vulnerable. I just love that you were apparent with your crush on Jordan. I found that so sweet - But I'm glad that you shared with us, because it' just one more side to you that we can love. I just wish you would have told her when you were there. You have to be confident son, if you wanna get the girl! She is a lucky girl I must say. Your smart, she's smart, your hilarious, she's hilarious, your handsome, she's beautiful.....YES I can see it. Anyways, I will miss you and your mug when I watch the show now. It just won't be the same. But something tells me you are going to be just fine!
Colin: You are fortunate that you have options. Your mind will carry you a lot farther in life, but now you should follow your heart. You CAN do both (modeling and school). I was a graduate student at Fla. State and modeled on weekends--mostly runway-- in Atlanta. I did have to make a decision eventually whether to move to N.Y. and persue modeling full time or continue my quest to become a Doctor. I received a fellowship to study at Oxford in England and left my modeling days for good. But it was fun for awhile-- Realize that the looks of those still on the show will fade, but your intelligence will still allow you to move forward. By the way--all the others including the fellow from the UK are predictable. You weren't, and that's why the "judges" didn't know how to assess you. Don't give up. Keep blogging and let us know what path you take. You have made a lot of us "nerds" proud. Doctor Bob
Colin:
You'll go on, because you have the right attitude toward learning from your mistakes. That's obviously linked to your intelligence and determination. So, being so young, if you keep doing that way, the sky is the limit! Although being so cute and charming will also help you a lot :p But, remember, any way you go, never ever stop being true to yourself.
i think amanda was trying to act sexy on the horse n had the same look every time at least u were tryin but it really sucks that your gone now because whats the point watching it anymore without u but i prob will still watch being truthful but good luck for your doctor career your smart funny u could be a lot of things so dont dout
love ya!
i love u so much n i screamed n that stupid photographer prob kicked u off n cld u tell that nicole was pissed off when u got kicked off i wanted amanda to go bad!your awesome n dont u forget it n u will get laid!
The show is called "Make Me a SUPERMODEL", not just "Make Me a Model", there is no stipulation that the participants have to be total amatuers, because, as we've seen in the case of Colin, it's VERY difficult to take a total amatuer and turn them into a model, much less a Supermodel.
great success to you Colin. "Fortune favors the Bold!" (Virgil).... I agree with the others here that if this was a show with people who were brand new at this, you would have gone far! kudos to you for jumping into the game. I'm hoping jonathan wins, he seems nice and what a great family man.
