Never Give Up

Karen reveals the models she thinks should have gone home instead.

March 17, 2009

Our next photo shoot we have to portray sporting poses while being hung up. I am partnered up with Sandhurst and Jordan. I am excited because I know we will have a great picture. Justin, the photographer, came around and gave us hints and ideas for the shoot. He was very helpful and friendly. Once we were all made up with hair and makeup, I was very anxious to do the shoot. We all looked very sporty and athletic.

When we start shooting, at first it took Jordan and I a second to get the hang of it. Once we figured how to leap and pose we were on a ball. The photograph kept saying "Good job, that looks good." This made us feel secure in getting a nice photo.

The runway challenge is themed after the photo shoot, so we have to think Olympic sports with posing and being inside this wire contraption. I am nervous because my original pose had my arms up, but of course I am put in something that limits my arm movement. I finally decide on a runner's stance. That was the only one that everyone could recognize. The judges were impressed. They thought my walk was terrible and my pose needed work. It was very frustrating because we aren't given much direction before the runway walk, and little time to figure out what to do.

I end up getting eliminated this week. It was very shocking seeing as Gabe had been in the bottom three weeks in a row. It's my first week in the bottom, and I get the boot. I know that I need work, but I felt like I should have been given another chance like everyone else. Out of everyone left on the stage, my picture that week was better than Salome's, Kerryn's, and Gabe's. It is what it is, and the only thing I can do is keep moving forward. You can't fail, if you never give up.

Truly interesting domain to pay attention to to my thinking. By the way, why haven't you you send that article to social bookmarks? It can bring rather big traffic to this blog.

I was so surprised to see you go! It wasn't the greatest week, to be sure, but you put in a good effort. It was just that look at the judges that did it, I'm afraid. I believe you are usually better than that. Good luck!

Ha ha...You know what's funny? All of those leaving comments that are negative towards you... have horrible grammar, punctuation, and spelling. So, rather than showing their asses on this website for the world to see and trying to make you feel bad about yourself, they should stop watching television and go back to school. You are gorgeous and like you said, "You can never fail, if you never give up!"

Pretty girl! Sweet demeanor! Commercial or Promo talent, yes! Supermodel, no!

Karen I was heartbroken when you were eliminated but you did your best. We are proud of you! Great job!

Karen, you are a beautiful and classy woman and I wish you all the success in the world. While you expressed you opinion and dissapointment at being sent home, you did it without throwing anyone under the bus and I applaude you. The compitition has lost one of it's finest players, not just in looks but in behaviour and spirit as well. I personally think that while your expression was...odd... and they (the judges) were justified in thier critique of it, most of the blame could be placed on unfortunate make up. They way they did your eyebrows made you look perpetually surprised and when you widened your eyes it was rather horrific. Had you had your normal brows, your widened eyes would not have been so extreme.

Karen,
I'm sorry but I completely agree with the judges sending you home. Your height is okay but not that of a true super model. Gabe may have an attitude but he has more model potential that you do. I completely agree with their disappointment in your stare at the end of your walk. You looked as though you had been caught with your hands in the cookie jar.

I'm sorry honey but your not high fashion. Your pretty but no.

Karen,
You are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT in that Gabe should have gone home. He has had WAY too many chances and hasn't even tried to improve. This is your first week and you are gone!?! The judges obviously value the "Eurocentric" look and beautiful African-American models who add diversity are overlooked (what else is new?) Shame on Bravo. Shame on the judges. Don't let racism and stupidity stop you from your dreams! You are a beautiful person -- DON'T GIVE UP!!!

Karen,
You are a beautiful person and I'm sure that you have a successfull future ahead of you. I do however, understand why the judges chose to eliminate you over Gabe. The expression on your face when you were doing your pose was ghastly! It is something that you will need to work on, but I'm sure that this is something that you will easily overcome. You are very talented and I know that modeling is in your future.

Karen, keep your head up! I cannot believe they eliminated you over many other folks, including Gabe. Many viewers agree that they should have given you a second chance, just as they have with many others. Gabe has been weak, week after week after week after.. and they're STILL giving him a chance. The judges seemed to value that "traditional" eurocentric model look over talent, drive, modesty, malleability (just look at who else they eliminated over Gabe in past weeks). Shame on the judges for doing so! They're out of touch with America and those of us with real purchasing power! That look is no longer representative of what it means to look "American" nor is it interesting to those of us young, fresh, and beautiful in America. It's old, tired, and boring boring boring! You have a fresh, diverse look--at times sexy, at times soft, at times fierce. Shame on Bravo!! for going with the same old boring "traditional" look (Chris too was more interesting!). If that's what they're going to default to, Make Me a Supermodel is yawn boring. You deserved another chance! Lots of us were rooting for you, so keep on with your dreams!!
