First the models had to do a shoot with fire. What do you think the photographer was looking for?
I think, because of the production and because the flames are expensive to do, it's like one dry cut. You get one shot. He was looking for someone who could exude rock n roll energy in that small amount of time. He's a one take director. You have to be a one take model. He was looking for someone who could bring energy. He shoots celebrities, so he's also looking for character. That's why Sandhurst kicked butt. He wasn't just a model, he was a character in a movie. It was like X-Men or something. That's what he was looking for. Everyone was okay. Sandhurst inspired that photographer and gave him something he wasn't looking for.
They all went to Bloomingdale's for a go-see. Have you done something like that?
Never. That's for B-Models, but it's a great way to interact with people because you are selling a product at all times. It's good to know what you're selling and it's good to see people who know the designer's name. It was kind of cute though. Mountaha was a little nervous and that comes across a lot. She's not comfortable in her own skin and she's too driven and anxious. I think that people see that. You've got to be relaxed around people. You could be a good model, but if people aren't comfortable around you then you're not going to get anywhere. Whey they shopped their personalities really showed. It was interesting to watch. I loved how Branden just got a suit. It was almost his claim to becoming a man. I'm going from little boy to man. That was awesome. Mountaha just wanted ridiculous Christian Dior shoes. That's such a female, Sex and the City type thing to want great shoes. Sandhurst was so humble. He just got everything for his family. I liked that.
For the runway it was nothing crazy this week, the models just got dressed up and dapper.
I thought the wig didn't work for Mountaha. Wigs look bad even if they're custom for your head. I thought that was unlucky for her and she didn't make it work. You can't say something though. You're a canvas. Sometimes it's luck. She should have brought more to the runway. She could have brought some personality to it. She didn't perform in the photo as well. I was shocked she just stood there. I really noticed her hands though. I shoot Victoria's Secrets and they've said I have good hands and feet and know how to hold them. That's really important. People don't realize it. It's the small details like hands that make a big impact on a photo. If your hand looks weird you notice it. I loved the way she used hers and she was very conscious of them.
I wished Mountaha could have stayed on. I think she is great. The one good thing about there being no girls left, is that you get less air time and I don't have to watch you as much.
Branden has the best look!!!!!!!!!!! He also has a fabulous attitude and is extremely real as a person. He is purely charming and the most model looking of all the remaining entrants. No doubt...he should be the winning contestant. But this contest will probably be a contest based on politics-as usual.
I love your blogs and I really hope you return with Tyson next season. I think you're a great mentor for the girls. You tell it like it is and have an impressive resume to boot.
Nicole, why would they use such an awful looking wig on Mountaha, which detracted from the beautiful dress? Shouldn't they know better? Baffling.
I do like the final three guys, although it really was a toss up between Mountaha and young Branden, who needs a bit more time to mature.
What the Hell!!!! is there really nothing you can do. Every body knows Branden was inches away from being kicked of like 5, 6, or 7 times! Was this just to piss people off and pick up the ratings. Can there be a suprise ending where they change their mind and bring her back. REALLY!!!!!
The men are left? I thought that better than a 5 to 1 ratio, women are supermodels, and make the agency. Then why are the women gone? Didn't the judges know that when shoes don't fit, it is almost impossible to walk? Wasn't this Salome's last problem? Miontaha had a wig that didn't go with her look and she is gone. The flames shoot that made the air did not air about how many secs the shoot would last. Wouldn't that have helped the models? Thus overall, I don't understand why an agency wouldn't select some models for specific shoots and direct them to show their best assets.. A guy...
Nichole, Such a nasty blank statement about Jonathan. He is unique, charming with personality & intelligence he brings modeling to a new height! You want to see him over & over again. When I saw you add in Chadwicks I realized you are not a super model just a wanta be. You are abit clueless. Possibly having a crush on Jonathan. Thou protest too much!
Nicole, when you wrote about Bloomingdale's , you totaly forgot about Jonathan...Your judgment is so poor!!!!
Wow I guess I am going to be the only one that did not like Sandhurst picture - one eye was almost close and his face looked funny. I though Branden should have gone home - he has not done well so often and has been in the bottom lots of time. Mountana did well to me. I thought her walk was great and not sure why the designer did not like her. When she did not have makeup on she was so plain but when they made her up she came alive. I love Johnathan and was surprise you thought he should go. He always has great shots and I would love seeing him in any ad and think he will do well on the runway. I would love to see men dress like him.
I do like Branden and I hope the best for him. He's so young and already doing so well. I really don't understand your infatuation with him though - and saying that Jonathan doesn't have a "unique" look. Are you kidding??? I'm a mom so I'm usually multi-tasking while watching the shows but I always make sure I'm in the room when Jonathan is on screen. He is incredibly intriguing - not just on the runway but off. Have you read his bio? What a focused, well rounded, intelligent, dedicated, down to earth - not to mention incredibly gorgeous - young man! I LOVE that Branden sees him for the wonderful male role model he is (except for the smoking and cussing he is definitely a rarity in today's culture) and I hope that influence continues as Branden moves forward in his own success and if Jonathan wins, the influence that could have on many other young men.
I agree with the others - there is something a little odd in your constant downplaying of Jonathan when he and Sandhurst have obviously been the top two of the men almost since the beginning. Not sure if its intimidation or if you just like going for the underdog.
I’m agreeing with Lynn Roberts’s statement that contest will probably be a contest based on politics-as usual …so its mean Sandhurst is winner…
To me, Mountaha has the most unique look--she's hip, yet classy--she has an interesting and memorable face. Sandhurst and Brandon just don't cut it IMHO. Johnathan has a nice face, but he seems a little short for a model.
Anyway, I think Salome and Mountaha were the strongest contenders--disappointed they didn't win, but I'm sure they will have succesful modeling careers. I mean if Jordan is already with the FORD agency, the aforementioned girls should be able to sign with a strong agency, too!
Nicole, you may be a very kind and thoughtful person in real life.
But I don't think that being a mentor on this program is helping your image, unless you want to be seen as a drawling wet blanket who puts other people down rather than offers them a hand up.
In your role as a "mentor" you do not seem to have offered real insight or support, nor did you advocate effectively for the women in this competition. You came across as blase and self-absorbed.
Please pass this along to the judges, what the heck were they thinking getting rid of mountaha instead of branden. They have no class at all to keep him instead of her, this show must be fixed and you have lost a loyal watcher. I am sure I am not the only one that will never watch again.
I am so glad branden stayed I think they were right about his supermodel potential having exponential growth. I think this show is fantastic partially bc they are NOT political at all -- they didn't keep Mountaha just b/c she's a girl and they didn't kick Branden off just b/c he's 18 and has more time. I LOVE the show and think the judges made the EXACT right decision. Mountaha is cool looking and a good model but looked ridiculous in that wig.
you say that only B models do live modeling in stores. what grade models do chadwicks of Boston catalogs, because nicole you are all over it, Since you are such a tp model i wounldn't think you would do that...
If Jonathan's ego gets any bigger, Jonathan may explode.
Branden had two looks throughout the entire competition-the lopesided smile look, and the terrified look. How he could have remained is impossible to understand.
Since Salome won one photoshoot after another, they finally gave he a pair of shoes that was too big to do the runway walk in, and then said that she couldn't do a proper runway walk. She was a standout-the standout!
Sandhurst's ego may explode, too, after all the self-love he professes...the Man-God! YIPES!!!!
I have to agree with some of the sentiments above. Nicole, I do not know you, but you make yourself known by being where you are, therefore I feel that I can post what I feel. I really have not seen any contribution from you to the show or to the contestants, other than being the "Vanna White deliver the photo and say 'heahhhr' " girl. I would like to see the producers allow you to give honest critique and help to the models.
I just don't understand how Brenden could have been chosen over Mountaha. And, the wig... surely the producers knew what they were doing when they make up a model...
You are so wrong about Mountaha...she is completely comfortable in her own skin as Brazilian women tend to be...it's called "gostosa".
Nicole, It's unfortunate that you had to include the "b" model comment. Gisele obviously recovered from the experience. You should have given a positive spin to the assignment such as: it helps the models get over their shyness or helps them with their "people" skills. Instead, you felt the need to let us know that you are so "above it all". Hmmm, NOT a good trait in a mentor. You should see every job that's given as a chance to show skills and have a positive attitude. Sorry Nicole but bad form on your part.
I'm sorry to be mean, but I think you are a dreadful mentor. I have yet to see one bit of footage where you seem invested in the women. Just the opposite, actually. It's so obvious that Tyson cares about the guys and tries to help them. All you ever do is look down your nose then subsequently throw the women under the bus. Not exactly mentor behavior in my book.
I really feel like the women got cheated this year. Your lack of support wasn't fair to them. What a shame.
Politics as usual? Meaning the black contestant wins because he's black. I know people make statements like that just to get a rise out of people, so I'll be generous and give you one:
There were only three black contestants on the show, two of whom were eliminated early on. Politics as usual? There were no Asian, Hispanic, Middle Eastern or Native American contestants. Politics as usual? All of the women have been eliminated. Politics as usual? The one contestant who made known her unusual religious background was eliminated. Politics as usual? The contestant whose body least conformed to standards for high fashion female models was eliminated. Politics as usual? Last year's winner was white. Politics as usual?
Whatever bias you think you're seeing toward Sandhurst is all in your head. The show certainly doesn't seem to give a damn about making so-called PC statements.
I agree with xmerish8 - its unfortunate you made that comment b/c it seemed like such a snob comment to make - almost geared to belittle these models you are supposed to be mentoring. I didn't recognize you at all when I first watched the show and haven't figured out why you are being set up as a "supermodel" on par with a true supermodel like Tyson. Knock the ego down a bit. Its not warranted.
Nicole, I'm going to have to agree with LB. You just threw all the women under the bus. What's up? Are you jealous? Salome is already a far more memorable model than you are. And she's nice. That's something you seem to be lacking. Why are you still on the show? You clearly failed at mentoring the women. Your boring monotone voice is so contrived and obnoxious. Tyson is great. He should've been the one to mentor all the contestants. Then they would have all had a chance. Please, don't come back. You sabotaged the show. In your defense, the judges this season have an even worse disposition than you. You just don't seem to care.
There is something about you that doesn't sit well with me. You have not been a great mentor on screen and then your blogs are the worse. I am hoping that you do not return.
To one viewer who suggested that the girls shouldn't have been eliminated because of their shoes or hair problem. Well this showed that you obviously know nothing about the fashion industry. When you walk on runways there's always things that don't fit you, but that's not an excuse for a bad walk at all. It's up to the models to overcome the difficulties and work it out on the runway. The fashion industry isn't not gonna accommodate to the models, it's the models that have to accommodate themselves to the designers' needs, espceially when you're a new model who's just starting in this industry.
