In a way, I was surprised that Holly won because the boys had such a fanbase. I think the votes split, and she was able to fly that way. But, the main thing with me is that, out of all of the final four, all of them will work. Once I saw that final four I was like, "You know what? All of them will work." I didn't think Holly would win out over Ben and Ronnie, but she did it, so good for her. Girl power! She's obviously going to need some work, but Cory's going to work with her and make her the best, and that's all that matters.
Ben showed up late to his first go-see, and although that's not the impression you want to make, I can't say I was perfect and never made that mistake. I was late for some of my go-sees, and after awhile you learn how crucial it is to show the client that you can show up on time.
I think the brands that were chosen were the best for each one of them. We learned who they were along the way, so by the time we had to put brands on them we were able to pick the right ones.
Ben is going to struggle with catwalk, for sure, because of his stiffness, but he showed in the New Orleans shoot that he can be very editorial, so he'll be good at that side. I think he'll be good at advertisements too, but I just know he's going to struggle with catwalk unless we send him to Milan and just make him walk. He'll get it eventually.
Perry's shoulders are tight, and I wish they were broader, but we can fix that just by putting him in a gym and making him do certain exercises. I think Perry's going to go back to acting. He's not going to fall into the modeling category, but he can. He can do the Bosses, he can do the Calvin Klein stuff, but I think his heart is really in acting.
Out of all the guys, I think Ronnie's going to make the most money. He'll clean up and do Target and catalog, and there's so much work out there for him. He could work until he's 60. I think his gay following will help him, and I think a lot of clients are going to book him just so they can look at him. He could stay in this business or he could be a really great state senator, mayor, or any kind of politician. Anything he wants to do, that kid can do it. I'm really proud of him, and I have to say I really love that kid.
And Holly? Trust me, girlfriend is going to be alright. Winning this and gaining a great booker like Cory who believes in you and who will help you and be there for you - she's going to be fine. And, a lot of people just say, "Oh, just be a model and stay quiet", and I'm like, no, I think you should bring that boisterous person out. Just because of how tiny her voice is, that will make people stop and listen to what she's saying. She's such a small voice and that would throw people off like, "What is she saying?!"
I think these kids will eventually get a reality check once they've gone out into the real world. They're going to see what things really cost here in New York, because now they're not in that $20 million house, they're not being driven around in the Mercedes, they've got to walk to their go-sees, and they're going to be living in some little 8x10 apartment they pay 2,100 bucks a month for. They're really going to realize how serious it is.
For Holly, having New York Model Management behind her, and having David there teaching her how to walk and get it right, she'll be fine. I think we've put an asset into fashion, and I hope to God she doesn't run off and marry that cute boyfriend of hers and never want to be in this business again. I hope the two of them come to New York and tackle this industry and take it for what it's really worth.
This process made me feel like I've just learned so much about this business over the years. To be able to come back and do this show, I just thank Bravo for this opportunity and I thank everyone who watched it, and everyone in America for believing with us and rolling with us. This was the first time anything like this has been done, as far as shooting it so quickly and putting it on the air, I think that was just crazy, but it was worth it. If I had to do it again, I would, and I can't wait to get out there and start looking for the next contestants if there is another season. I think once you've done something and people have seen it, people will come out of the woodwork, and we'll see more amazing people coming.
I know some of the bloggers are like, "You should quit! You're the worst panelist ever!" And you know, I listen to their opinion and I appreciate their opinion, but if you've never been in this business, and you've never achieved the things I've achieved, you really can't say what I should be doing. You walk around in my shoes and you'll understand what this business is about. This is a tough business, and to get up there and put yourself out there physically and mentally and let people judge the way you look, the way you walk, the way you talk, and the way you look in underwear, and to call out all your flaws is hard. Those who can do it, God bless them.
I've always had women around me, like Nikki and Naomi Campbell. I remember my first intro to Europe and the catwalk was Linda Evangelista. She and I were at a show in Milan, and she was great. As soon as she cut her hair, Holly reminded me of her. Linda's always been one of my favorites, and so has Naomi, but I've always had the biggest crush on Linda. I don't know where she is right now, but I'd marry her!
Fashion has dropped off since they started putting all these celebrities on the covers of magazines. No offense to the celebrities, but they can't do it like a model can. You can dress them up, airbrush them to death, but they're not going to be Linda, they're not going to be Naomi, they're not going to be Cindy, or all those girls who ran it and made fashion fun. It was such an amazing run for fashion at that time, and with this show maybe we can find the next Linda or Cindy. Whether they're Dairy Queen, or Burger King, or working on their dad's farm, I mean, look at Holly! This girl was making squirrel gravy. She was just so cute, and I can't think of anyone else who deserves this whole thing, with all that she's been through.
I think it was very important that she could meet Jessica Stam and Naomi Campbell, just so she can see what it's about. These are girls you have to compete with, work with, emulate and become.
