Big Tank and a Snake

Tyson talks models, animals, and art.

Big Tank and a snake. How about that? I've worked with animals before, so I can understand this one. Pretty much, it's common knowledge that I don't like snakes, so they wouldn't put me with one.

Stephanie was my sleeper. But I think she gave up. I was asking her some questions and trying to find out what was going on, but I really think, you know, if you can't make seven weeks, you won't make it in this busiess. All the art stuff, she was supposed to excel at --she ended up not doing so well. It's a shame.

Ben

Ben. Ben. Ben. He's doing bad. I don't know if it's the willpower, or if it's stress of the seven weeks, but I think Ben's on his way out too. I don't know. Whenver someone ends up in the bottom three more than once -- it has to mess with you mentally. You have to start thinking, "maybe I'm not good enough for this."

Casey

I don't know if Casey is going to make it. There's nothing wrong with it,but Casey is a little pigeon-toed. I've been watching him walk for a while now, and I finally figured it out. I kept watching every piece of his body all the way down to the foot. And it's that left foot -- it messes up his walk. You wouldn't see Naomi Campbell come down the catwalk like that. She wouldn't have gotten to where she is with a pigeon toe.

Frankie

He did okay this week. He's getting by. I just want that kid to understand what business he's getting into. I want him to straighten up and fly right.

Holly

I've always said that girl is great, but I don't know if she's tough enough. She's got the looks and everything, but you all saw her fiance. The guy is drop dead gorgeous. If he said to her, "it's either me or this business," she'd never make it. She's thin-skinned. She's sensitive -- and in this business, you have to be tough as nails.

Jacki

Poor Jacki. Still the same. No progression. And we don't want that as a supermodel. You have to blow people away. You got to come even close to filling Tyson Bekford's shoes, and I have a hard time seeing that happening. She will work as a model, that's for sure. I know a lot of women who are great for bathing suit models but not high fashion. And she can definitely do that.

Perry

Perry's almost engaged. And we saw the episode where he's begging his girlfriend to say she loves him. And that's tough...when I was coming up in the business, I didn't have the distraction of a girlfriend or anything like that. I think when you have that, it makes it really hard, because you're so worried about what they're going to say: "I just got booked to work for two months in Milan, I wonder if my girlfriend is going to be cool with that..." It's just hard to know how it's going to play out. And so I was, in a lot of ways, lucky. I didn't have to think about any of that. Of course, I didn't have a son, or any of the things I have now, but at the time, I could do what I wanted. Perry's a fighter though. He's walking on a broken foot.

Ronnie

I think the people voting for Ronnie time and again aren't necessarily fashion people. Ronnie is a good kid. He'll work, but he's still got that cheese factor. People keep saying, he's "not as cheesy..." But he still is. He'll make some money, he'll make good money, but it still really remains to be seen -- is he a supermodel?

Shannon

She's six feet tall. Some designers are going to say she's too tall. I just think I'm dead on about her. She's great, She'll work, she'll do high fashion, but I don't know if that adds up to supermodel. She might be missing a certain level of "je ne sais quoi." She can shoot pictures, she can do runway, but can she host a show? Does she have it all? I don't know.

Portraying the Sexy

Tyson Beckford offers his final words on the three finalists.

Bravotv.com: We have the finale. First, the three guys have to shoot those Polaroid pictures and it was kind of less is more in those pictures. Do you think that is harder to do?
Yeah, it’s just like an actor playing himself. It’s harder to play yourself than to play someone else.

Bravotv.com: What did that opportunity mean for them to shoot with that camera and that photographer?
It’s a once in a lifetime event. Probably by now, there’s not that much film left in the world for that camera. So, not too many people are really going to have a chance to shoot with it. I was fortunate to shoot with it at least three times in my career. And I also got to shoot with it while we were on the set as well.

Bravotv.com: Who do you think did the best in that part?
I believe it went to, I have to say, the first was Branden, then the second was Sandhurst, and then Jonathan. And then once they got to the photo shoot at Cosmo, Jonathan just did the same pose. Even when they were asking him to change, he still didn’t change. He just stood there. And he even admitted, “Yo, I’m stuck in neutral.” I guess under all that pressure, he couldn’t suffice. And then again, Sanhurst, when he was asked to do something, he too couldn’t portray that sexy. And then when Brandon was up there, he just had fun with it.
I think in the last episode you see Branden having the most fun, which helped determine why he was the winner. So, that’s why it came in third, second, first, the way that it did.

Bravotv.com: Do you think the right person won?
By that, episode, yeah, I think so. He clearly was the one to accelerate when it needed to be accelerated and I personally thought Sanhurst was going to take it but he fell short with the Cosmo cover. And then he did the thing of taking his shirt off, which loosened him up, but you’ve got to be able to keep your shirt on and still do the job.

Bravotv.com: And the final catwalk. You’ve kind of been critical of Branden’s catwalk. Did you see an improvement?
Yeah, It’s definitely better. It’s not up to supermodel status but that’s what the cards dealt. It definitely got better because he took my advice and kept his hands in his pocket so it avoided his arms looking like they were swaying. He’s got this "hip-hop homeboy" style of walking when his arms are out.Bravotv.com: What would your final advice for each of them be?
Don’t quit. They’ve made it this far. They’re definitely models. Look at Jonathan who booked a2xist underwear campaign ad, which should be coming out shortly. Sanhurst just has to get out there and get his grind on like you said Jennifer Hudson did with American Idol, but she sure won an Oscar. So don’t count him out just yet. Brandon, he’ll go overseas. He’s not just going to stay here in the U.S. He’ll definitely do what Holly did. We’ll send him overseas. We saw him grow up in front of us. Like his mom send, she sent me a boy and I sent her back a man.

Bravotv.com: Are you going to continue to mentor him at all?
I always stay close to all the kids. So when they call me, I’ll hook him up. You can’t not help him. Even thought I’m not so much in that business, but it’s like riding a bike — you never forget.

Bravotv.com: What can your fans expect from your movie career and producing?
The next one is going to have some action in it. No doubt about it. We’re definitely going to put down some action in this next movie

Bravotv.com: Are you actually acting in it? Or are you producing it?
I’m acting and producing in it. I was told that two other films that were definitely on the independent film festival tour are coming out soon.

Bravotv.com: Do have any parting words?
I thank all the viewers for watching and keeping us close to their heart.
