'Stepping outside of your comfort zone'. When I heard Niki say those words, I thought to myself, 'I'm game, what have you got for me!' I had no clue that an actual challenge was straight ahead. Our photo assignment was to have an underwater shoot with a Boa Constrictor. The snake's name was Lemon and he was so cute. I thought it would be a blast until I started coughing up a lung! I ruined the first half of the shoot because I could not catch my breath and kept swallowing water. I eventually eased into it, but I didn't have much time left.
As a result, the photographer said I had some good pictures but nothing great. Of course I gave it my all, but the assignment was surprisingly difficult for me. I must have looked like a complete mess out there. Suffice to say my photo shoot was not my best work. But at the same time, I had to let that go and focus on the activities for the rest of the week.
I knew I had to slam it on the catwalk this week, to make up for my less than stella phoot shoot. I knew the catwalk would be something tricky...I had to walk with a duck (seriously a duck). It was terrific though. I walked with a wonderful Duck named Lucy, while wearing this heavy two foot tall head piece. It was certainly a challenge but I performed very well.
The panel liked my catwalk, but it wasn't enough to save me from being one of the two 'safe' models of the week. This week made me feel pretty average which is not a good feeling for me. But I embrace the negativity as a slap in the face. We all need one of those once in a while.
