Model Rundown

Tyson checks out this week's line-up.

Aryn

Aryn was just chillin' back there. The panel said she did fine, but I didn't think she was all that, I'm not very impressed with her. But then, I'm not so easily impressed.
blogs_port_ep02_ben.jpg

Ben Ben is doing badly, he's in the bottom three. He's a good-looking kid, but his walk is so terrible, it's not even funny. He's got this weird walk, it's almost military, and I can't seem to get him to stop doing it. No matter how much I work with him, he just still does it.
blogs_port_ep02_casey.jpg

Casey

Casey is the same thing. His walk is terrible. I can name the guys with a terrible walk: Casey, Ben, and Dominic. Those three guys have the worst walks I've ever seen, and it's so different from their regular walk. I try to tell them, "If you don't change your walk soon, you're gonna be out of here." My other panelists seem to think these guys are getting better, but I don't think so.
blogs_port_ep02_dom.jpg

Dominic

Dominic's makeover helped his look, which is definitely where he's lacking, I mean, he's got that one stare. His walk is definitely the worst part though. For a guy who's supposedly a DJ, he's got no rhythm.

Frankie

Frankie's cool, he just doesn't know when to turn it off. He gets annoying after a while. Overall, I don't see Frankie in it. He makes great TV, but I'm waiting until the pack is thinned out a little and then I'll get down to the meat of who really needs my help.
blogs_port_ep02_holly.jpg

Holly

Holly got a haircut and it's good, but even with the haircut I didn't think she was as strong as she was last week -- but not everyone's gonna be on it every week.
blogs_port_ep02_jacki.jpg

Jacki

Jacki did well. She really did. You know, she could've won last week, but she chose not to wear the bathing suit. So, she kinda knew she had to step up and impress me and the panel. She did so poorly last week when everyone expected her to do so well. It should be easy for her, Jacki shouldn't be messing up at all. Models are going to be put into things they don't want to wear, but you do what needs to be done.
blogs_port_ep02_jay.jpg

Jay

Jay is definitely coming around. I'm seeing it and I'm proud of him, but he has to grow up quicker. He's nowhere near as bad as Ben, Dominic and Casey though. Whereas Jay has all the body parts, the abs, everything. And if they all could look like Jay, that'd be alright. If I could have abs like Jay, that'd be alright.
blogs_port_ep02_katy.jpg

Katy

It's tough on a girl in this business. She's a cute girl, she's the kind of girl that you'd want for your girlfriend, she's the kind of girl you'd see a movie with, but high fashion? I don't know.
blogs_port_ep02_perry.jpg

Perry

Perry is high fashion. Sometimes, people just need shaping and molding, and they turn into something big.
blogs_port_ep02_ronnie.jpg

Ronnie

Ronnie's still got that cheese factor. He's cheesy, you can't get rid of it. He's great, he could be good commercially, but I know how far he can go.
blogs_port_ep02_shannon.jpg

Shannon

I don't see what everyone sees in her. She's a tall girl, and if you take away that height -- she doesn't have much else.
blogs_port_ep02_stephani.jpg

Stephanie.

Stephanie's my sleeper. She's a little too quiet, I'd like her to be a little more boisterous, I want her to start to command things. Stephanie's problem is that she doesn't have that confidence yet.

Sarah

Sarah's gone home. And Sarah's a decent girl -- she's going to do well as an actress. Maybe do some commercials, make the most of a couple TV shows. She's got the goods to do that, but as far as high fashion, no. She'd be a great Maxim girl, guys are gonna want to see her topless.

Portraying the Sexy

Tyson Beckford offers his final words on the three finalists.

Bravotv.com: We have the finale. First, the three guys have to shoot those Polaroid pictures and it was kind of less is more in those pictures. Do you think that is harder to do?
Yeah, it’s just like an actor playing himself. It’s harder to play yourself than to play someone else.

Bravotv.com: What did that opportunity mean for them to shoot with that camera and that photographer?
It’s a once in a lifetime event. Probably by now, there’s not that much film left in the world for that camera. So, not too many people are really going to have a chance to shoot with it. I was fortunate to shoot with it at least three times in my career. And I also got to shoot with it while we were on the set as well.

Bravotv.com: Who do you think did the best in that part?
I believe it went to, I have to say, the first was Branden, then the second was Sandhurst, and then Jonathan. And then once they got to the photo shoot at Cosmo, Jonathan just did the same pose. Even when they were asking him to change, he still didn’t change. He just stood there. And he even admitted, “Yo, I’m stuck in neutral.” I guess under all that pressure, he couldn’t suffice. And then again, Sanhurst, when he was asked to do something, he too couldn’t portray that sexy. And then when Brandon was up there, he just had fun with it.
I think in the last episode you see Branden having the most fun, which helped determine why he was the winner. So, that’s why it came in third, second, first, the way that it did.

Bravotv.com: Do you think the right person won?
By that, episode, yeah, I think so. He clearly was the one to accelerate when it needed to be accelerated and I personally thought Sanhurst was going to take it but he fell short with the Cosmo cover. And then he did the thing of taking his shirt off, which loosened him up, but you’ve got to be able to keep your shirt on and still do the job.

Bravotv.com: And the final catwalk. You’ve kind of been critical of Branden’s catwalk. Did you see an improvement?
Yeah, It’s definitely better. It’s not up to supermodel status but that’s what the cards dealt. It definitely got better because he took my advice and kept his hands in his pocket so it avoided his arms looking like they were swaying. He’s got this "hip-hop homeboy" style of walking when his arms are out.Bravotv.com: What would your final advice for each of them be?
Don’t quit. They’ve made it this far. They’re definitely models. Look at Jonathan who booked a2xist underwear campaign ad, which should be coming out shortly. Sanhurst just has to get out there and get his grind on like you said Jennifer Hudson did with American Idol, but she sure won an Oscar. So don’t count him out just yet. Brandon, he’ll go overseas. He’s not just going to stay here in the U.S. He’ll definitely do what Holly did. We’ll send him overseas. We saw him grow up in front of us. Like his mom send, she sent me a boy and I sent her back a man.

Bravotv.com: Are you going to continue to mentor him at all?
I always stay close to all the kids. So when they call me, I’ll hook him up. You can’t not help him. Even thought I’m not so much in that business, but it’s like riding a bike — you never forget.

Bravotv.com: What can your fans expect from your movie career and producing?
The next one is going to have some action in it. No doubt about it. We’re definitely going to put down some action in this next movie

Bravotv.com: Are you actually acting in it? Or are you producing it?
I’m acting and producing in it. I was told that two other films that were definitely on the independent film festival tour are coming out soon.

Bravotv.com: Do have any parting words?
I thank all the viewers for watching and keeping us close to their heart.
