I was approached to be part of the show and I agreed to be a part of it. Seeing it as an opportunity to share my point of view with the world through my personal experience as well as through my art work. As an artist I want more people to see my art and my art to find its place in people's homes and minds. More personal art expressions coming out in a form of exhibits in West Palm Beach, Miami and London very soon, I projects that had been in the works for the past two years :) and several large format photo books / exhibits i am working on at the moment. www.icybook.com and www.djsbookonline.com
Now back to the show. You guys have NO idea how much you still have to witness. There is so much painful drama coming your way in a form of watching a relationship between Lina and George. Please try not to demonize that girl or make out George as an angel in that realtionship. They truly are worth each other. Do I think their relationship is healthy? No, not really. I had a similar relationship before I and I am better off without it. It's been a long time but I a much happier, content woman now.
Of course there will be hilarious parts of the show mostly coming from Michael and me, of course! You all noticed no- matching underwear in the spa scene right? Hey, it's only in the movies that girls ALWAYS wear matching underwear. I'm starting a new trend! It doesn't always have to be perfec ! Thank God I wore any underwear that day for that matter - lol!
Your comments here are very insightful regarding your part in the show. When did you move to Miami? I plan to continue watching the show but would like to know more about how you decided to do it. I have also noticed a definite Eastern European vibe in the casting. Of the main characters seen so far, three, you, Lina, and Ariel are Eastern European. Was that a conscious decision by Bravo or was it just a random occurrence.
My overall impression so far is that the show does not shed a very favorable light on the characters but it is still early. It seems that this show represents only a small part of Miami, however. I can say one thing already, your passion for your work and care for your daughter definitely come through.
love the show! I'm with you- I cannot stop watching the first episode! i cannot get enough. im hooked :) You have created a wonderful life for you and your daughter. Best of luck to you and your castmates.
I love you on the show , you and michael are definately my favorites. I'm currently in college to become and art director -- will we be seeing more into your high paced high fashion world???
Love your blog. A writer AND photographer! You got "it" girl! Keep on your positive track and stay strong and proud.
Love the show and you are great, Maria.. Love the visual of Miami....in the sweeping scenes and the great variation of the shots. Show more of your photo sessions and the real work you do. People need to see the talent you have behind the camera.
I am married to a Russian from St. Petersburg who didn't arrive to the US until he was 21 and we now live in South Florida. We wondered if you have ever shopped at the Russian grocery store named Gastronom (Sunny Isles). We go once a month to get all of his favorites and of course tea- nothing like Russian tea! I sincerely hope your daughter is adjusting well to school and and we wish the best for you both. Liz and Yuriy Kovarskiy
You get em Maria. I love you:}. Keep letting us know what the real truths are. You are so beautiful, smart and a great personality. When I grow up I hope I can be as strong a woman as you. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through the show. I watch it and my worlds problems just go away. Can wait till next week to watch. God bless.
Oh I forgot, when I was watching the spa scene I thought, hmmm what would I do, I usually don't wear any undies either. I would have been so embarassed. And, I am on disability for my shoulder right now so I watch the show every single time it's on, middle of the day and middle of the night. Altogether probably 15 times, episode 1 and 2. I could probably recite the words.:}
Maria, your so awsume. You And Micheal are my favorites of the show:) I hope when I grow up, I can be as great a photograoher as you. Your hilarious. Even more when your with Micheal:)

MARIA! you are my favorite, so beautiful and true. By the way I love your style, the lipstick you wear in your interview is gorgeous! I never had an interest in Miami but after seeing you I am headed for a trip. I especially loved seeing you go to the meeting with Ariel and just being honest about your intentions, you have a beautiful daughter to think of first and foremost. Your honesty is so brave and inspiring. Maria contact me if you want to exchange photos. I am also a hot mama raising a daughter alone. I promise you won't be disappointed!:D

Well written Maria. Even though some of us have always known you have a job, it is common for people to look at other people in Miami and go, "He/She must be either a.) married to a rich person, b.) a rich European vacationing in Miami or c.) a trust fund baby having fun playing all day in Miami. And no, you're not the only one guilty of this one.
Keep it up.
