Thinking Big

Katrina discusses her relationship with Ben, and takes some advice from Donald Trump.

Life provides you with the opportunity for intellectual growth, wisdom, self discovery, the miracles of love and happiness. At the tender age of 16, I met the man that would be my husband, my confidant and ultimately my friend.

The second episode of Miami Social is particularly interesting to me as viewers clearly saw right through Ben and I and the feelings we share – which reinforces the many comments posted on Bravo’s blog. Many believe Ben and I to be the “perfect couple” and indeed we were. Once upon a time we personified characters in a fairy tale story with the happy ending. The true and simple is that we evolved into strong, confident and accomplished individuals and circumstances in our private lives changed.

I believe love is much like the process of a metaphor – we unwrap a large gift box in which a series of smaller gift boxes must be exposed without knowing at which point you will find the unique and unwavering gift (in this case - love). After 13 years of self growth, I was completely entrenched in my career. People often think that life is about finding yourself but for me, it was about creating myself. My experience with Donald Trump was an awakening of sorts. I left the city of my comfort for the wilderness of my intuition, took a calculated risk and surfaced with a new identity and an unwavering purpose – and for that I thank Donald Trump.

As Donald Trump always says, “I like thinking big. If you're going to be thinking anything, you might as well think big.” - trust me, that statement has remained deep-rooted in my soul. Trump often discussed balancing work and pleasure and his answer to that was simply - “stop trying to balance them. Instead make your work more pleasurable.” And I so relate!

I may be a work-a-holic and people may not understand the relationship Ben and I share, but we are in a good place right now. We support each other, respect each other and celebrate each other’s triumphs in life - and we both like it like that!
