This week is packed with lots of decorating action from both the delicious Kathryn Ireland and myself.
Kathryn rejiggers a wonderful project full of English antiques and helps her shopping addicted client to rearrange both her home and life, with, of course, Kathryn's usual sense of humor and panache.
I, however, deal with a $30 million, 40,000 sq ft estate in Punta Mita , Mexico for my longtime client Joe Francis, the creator and owner of "Girls (and Boys) Gone Wild." You get to see that as an interior designer I offer full service, as I have to return to the estate to teach the staff how to keep the house clean and sparkling. My standards are high and my clients expectations are even higher! It's a wild ride encompassing both cultural differences and vast lifestyle misunderstandings, so get ready viewers. . .
Meanwhile back in La La, the glamorous Mary McDonald is being drawn by renowned Greek artist Konstantin Kakanias. The delight of his wild and eccentric wit and charm is as mesmerizing as his the finished art piece. Mary, of course is hilarious through out.
Jeffrey Marks it seems can't work out properly, as he is distracted by the disgusting shower facilities in his gym. So, he sets about fixing them, and occasionally actually puts his clothes back on to do so! All very wild and fun.
I hope you enjoyed the show a lot more than I enjoyed the massage I got on this episode!
Wishing you lots of living, loving, and decorating !
I have to say that I love Kathryn's design for a lifestyle attitude. I love her fabric, I love how you can just feel relaxed when you walk in her space. You just want to cuddle up in her chairs, and sofas. Those fabrics, pillows, everything is fun to me. I guess I love it so much because her fabrics bring life to a room. That is what I want to experience when I come home and turn on my fireplace and cuddle with my husband. Just Love her! You two are my favorite designers.
I have to say I thought the way Joe Francis treated his staff in Mexico was inexcuseable. How does he ever expect to have a staff that knows exactly what he wants when he fires them all the time and treats them like lesser beings??? Gross.
Hey, I just think you are the best, I have just starting watching the show and I just feel like I have something connected with you. Wish we could talk privately but I'm sure that is not going to happen. Hugs Handsome. RC
Great show, and I love your style. On the other hand, Joe Francis once again proves what an enormous a--hole that he is reported to be. I actually can't believe you would put up with that, no matter how much money he spends!
You poor thing! That Joe was horrid.....not so much to you but to his staff. I can understand being firm with his wants/needs but to yell at them the way he did was completely out of line. If he doesn't like the way someone does a job, then the job isn't for them, and he could kindly tell them so. Instead, he ridiculed them in front of others. That is a sign of weak character to be sure.
You, though, are still top notch in my book! I continue to look forward to and enjoy you and the other designers. Love Love Love you all!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE you Martyn - you seem to be the only Decorator on the show that doesn't take himself (or herself) too seriously! You are obviously cherished by your clients and have established great relationships with them. As an Interior Designer myself, I feel one of the most important jobs I have it educating my clients and their staff about the proper way to maintain their newly remodeled homes - finishing a project is only half of the battle, having things cared for properly is the other half. I sometimes feel we should be called "Lifestyle Design & Management Consultants". Keep up the good work - I enjoy watching the show.
Love you and and the show!! Might I offer a suggestion? When I find a language barrier or learning issue, I have found it helpful to provide people with pictures depicting what I wanted. Have you thought of taking pics of the interior of the estate in Mexico; depicting how the pillows should be, etc. and leaving it with the house manager for reference? Just a thought.
Looking forward to upcoming episodes.
you are amazing at all that you do, and how you handle interior design. It inspires me as I am going for interior design!!! YOU ARE FABULOUS
LOVE U! LOVE THE SHOW!! You crack me up every Tuesday night! Seriously, my new fave show!! You and Kathryn are THE BEST!! In awe of your work, AH-MAZING!!! xoxo
You are so much fun to watch. I love your decorating sense and the scenes with you and Kathryn are great television. YAY Martyn.
You are a real talent, Martyn, and I was so relieved when you took over teaching the staff without Joe. Surely you can't need the money so, that you can't pick and choose who you wish to work with??
I admire your ability to swing widely in your styling ... implementing what will work best for your client and the space. Sorry, but I could do without the non-decor aspects of the show
You're a class act tho' and the only designer on the show whom I don't fast-forward thru at all - keep up the great work!
