Single and Awkwardly Embracing It
Mary shares her feelings on moving back into her home, Stacey Dash's tears, and JAM's grace.
Dec 12, 2012This episode makes me cringe actually. For a person who is on career-based reality television, I keep my personal life and relationships quite private. So to even see myself talk at all about my relationships and personal transitions makes me quite nauseous. Although I kept the house I moved back into for years as a guesthouse for out of town friends, etc., I had it completely decorated and published in several books. But now I need something that is me right now in life. I kind of needed a new stamp, so for a couple of months I had to cull through storage from my old 10,000.00 square foot house to see what I could re-use and still feel "NEW" about.
Well needless to say I ended up with racks and racks and racks of clothes I could not figure out what to do with be because of so little storage space in comparison to my previous life. Being a complete clothes-collector-hoarder I honestly could not decide what needed to go where and what I could love without. I basically lived in one big walk in closet of clothing racks for weeks. . .
Funnily enough my dear longtime friend Nathan Turner was remodeling his own bathroom and came to stay in one of my guest rooms and I thought he might help me focus so I could get my own bedroom finished and get out of my other guest room. Oddly I cannot seem to make a decision about much in my own house, probably because I can't get comfortable with where I am in my life being single after 18 years. I am kind of a relationship person so being single is awkward for me at best -- and it shows. At least I have an extra home to move into and beautiful belongings to choose from in storage.

I loved seeing your house and the dogs too. Although Stacey dash may be acting, she is equal in drama to Martyn, so such a good combination and far better than having to watch LiLo.

LOL when I saw the ep I knew you'd be fuming about the turkey neck camera angles! I mean, were they doing it on purpose or what? You must have it written in the contract no filming from below! This is why women stop stop going on top after a certain age...if you get what I mean ;)
I love to watch you on the show. You're so entertaining without trying too hard. Loved seeing a little bit of your home, dogs and all. I hope we'll get to see more!!! I'm really interested how you end up decorating your bedroom, as I am decorating mine now. I draw inspiration from your book and look forward to the fabric line with Schumacher you have coming out in 2013.

Also, I agree about Stacey Dash. It was so awkward watching her act, I was uncomfortable watching her and couldn't quite figure out why. I thought maybe she was loopy from something she took and that was why she was acting so weird. She was very self-conscious and just acting for the camera.
No Mary, you are so beautiful! What are you talking about, shooting from below, etc.? I never noticed or saw any of those things you mentioned about your looks and I think you are being way over-critical of yourself. You are gorgeous. Please do not be hard on yourself and don't change a thing. You do not need it.
Mary, I just simply love you. You're witty with a little edge and somehow don't seem to take yourself all that seriously in the end. Love your sense of humor.
Mary, you are wonderful. I enjoyed seeing a bit of your "personal" side this episode. I have long respected your professionalism and grace, but it was refreshing to see a vulnerable moment or two.
Good luck Mary! Break ups are hard, but that's what lots of puggles are for right? Lots and lots of huggles! You and Nathan together are so cute! My sister and I are just like this! Hmmm... which one of us would be Nathan then? haha! I loved the part when you and Nathan are on the couch together and all hell breaks loose and the dogs take over! And it was a pretty small couch too! Can't wait to see the next install!
Oh, yes. Definitely a performance, just not an Academy award worthy-one, IMO. Mary, you are beautiful and gracious and so funny! Life changes do throw one for a loop, but good friends - like Nathan - should help. LOVED the wallpaper you chose. Embrace now? Sure, but embrace yourself, independent and talented and beautiful - even better!
You're so funny! I thought Stacey was doing Jane Fonda....and by that I mean Jane Fonda in character! I loved that floor, Mary, I would have been more interested to see what wallpapr you would have used to match that floor over changing the floor for such a traditional paper! Anyway, I'm clarified your moving situation, it was gettin confusing, but one thing that wasn't confusing: You are a very good for letting someone stay with you while you were also moving! I think I'm nice, but I'm not THAT nice!
Love all that you do! I know you don't need to hear this(because you reallly are so talented) but I love the work you do!! I also think you are so funny and charming. I would love it if Bravo had a show with just you and Nathan all about your work and friendship...it would be a sure hit!
I also think you look beautiful and don't need any work...but you might ask kathryn who "did" her ' cause she is looking so much better this season.

I love your home redesign. During the shoot one scene showed a bust idling on the mantel. and the stills show it positioned on a table or desk. Is it Diana Vreeland? Anyway such a great piece.
