Madison defends his decision not to pay Heather and to defend himself at the party.
Jul 25, 2012What ensued at this open house was ridiculous. Josh A. was so out of line for encouraging Heather to approach me at the open house to start a public "battle." Her decision to do so shows how controlled she is by Josh A. As far as I am concerned, the two of them are perfect for each other -- each will screw the other, or anyone else, to get attention or a deal closed. As I said in the episode, it looks like I got dragged into the circus with "Looney an Tooney." I apologize for not just walking away from the whole situation right at the beginning, but after the wine was thrown on me I felt I needed to defend myself, which of course, I am entitled to.
The circus-themed background only added to the chaos. . .what a tense evening it was. And the truth be told, I have never owed, nor will I ever owe Heather for any commissions and her accusations are malicious and indicative of her ethics. Josh A.'s final comment as I walk out the door, "You better watch out for your clients as I am coming after them" is absurd. Any realtor would frown on that style and he should be evaluated by the Department of Real Estate for such blatant misuse of our code of ethics.

Forget the contract - Heather has the footage from MDLLA showing that Madison turned against her and made it a workplace harassment issue the minute he knew she was dating his Bravo/realtor competition. Even his mother doesn't understand what Madison's saying; funny how he left out the part about calling her a brat, etc (sure Mom was a little taken aback when she saw the episode; I know if it were my kid, I would be).Any decent contract lawyer can argue that Madison brought personal issues he had with someone else into the workplace, creating a hostile work environment. Add to that if at any point in the past three years he's paid her a commission, and you have past work practice. He should just have given her the money - she'll be able to get much more and his reputation will be shot. Well, whatever reputation he has left. Talking negatively about clients, etc. would make me never want to hire him. Only the attention fiends must go to him so they can be on the show.

Love you on the show - would hire you in an instant if I lived out in your neck of the woods. I don't know where this 7K figure came from, however, if she was running the other office and NOT making money for the business, how could she have drawn a salary? Doesn't she have to SELL property to make money?
Just curious.
Is Josh A. an instigator or a mentor? Whatever the answer, Heather's action at the open house was sure unprofessioal and an insult to their host Josh F.
Madison, I love you and I love this show! You have been the same, hardworking, nice, honest guy from season 1 til now:) I enjoy watching you because you're honest in who you are and how you're trying to make your way in this world. What happened to you at the Open House was assault, period. They should've been removed from the party and they should've been reported to the police. When is the world going to take bullying seriously? That was disgusting the way they attacked you, both verbally and then physically. They are disgusting and they are bullies. It doesn't matter what age you are, when you try to intimidate someone and harm them, you are a bully. Just wanted to send some love your way, don't normally comment on tv shows, but that particular episode disgusted me so much I wanted to say something.

You are so much better than Josh Altman and Heather for not engaging in that BS. She bit the hand that fed her and made her a better person for 3 years. Altman will not make her a better person. She's already losing, by being with him.

Madison....You are a great looking fellow. I just think if you are into selling millions in real estate, how about putting on a suit and tie?? I would want my representative to dress the part....dress professional, look professional, be professional. Nothing wrong with sweatshirts and such.......on your own time. As I said, you are a great looking fellow.....would really like to see you "suit up" and get on the front row with the best of them.
Madison - if you are contractually obligated to pay Heather her commissions/bonuses then you must do it. You are better then this. Do not let your personal feelings affect your professional responsiblities. You will come out the loser in all of this.
@clptexas The contract says payment of her bonus out of HIS commission is at his discretion. He didn't have to pay her a dime from his commission, it was just a gesture of consideration as her boss. Keep up, honey.

If Heather can behave so childish and disrespectful with you and in public for all to see then it just proves you were right to let her go after all you don't want that kind of women (i say that term loosely) representing you and your brand you are trying to build. You are better off without her and i only hopes she sees her behavior and recognizes it and apologies to you.

@BeaBea I just rewatched the episode and listened close when he was talking to his mother and unless im watching the wrong show I definitely dont see anything that he lied to his mother about... I would like to hear how it did happen if it was different than what he told his mother. He told her exactly what happened!
Regardless, you can walk away with your head held high -- not so for the dynamic duo.
Madison, You are a classy guy and it would thrill fans for you to take the high road and pay Heather the money. You will look back in years to come and you will have no regrets. Being kind and fair will carry you far in life. Fans see you as the hero and not the villain so I would pay the relatively small amount and give them your blessing. The look on their faces will be priceless! Keep up the good work, Madison. I see you with your own show in the future.

@RHONYCmandi I am wondering if were watching the same show? The one I watch it was made clear that the contract he had with Heather made clear that anything he gave Heather from sales was to be by his choice which he said he had always given her money from sales because they were so close he chose to do so but was not obligated to. After she screwed him over and decided she would co list with Josh A. which she is not entitled to do as long as she works for Madison at least not without first getting his ok on it and she didnt so why would he continue to pay her money that he was only paying her before because they were close and wanted to but was never obligated to in any way? Seems so easy to understand... Idk
OMG! What frickin' channel are you watching? I saw Josh encourage Heather to approuch Madison at the opening which obviously was not the time or place. I would have called her worse and if she threw a drink at me she would at minimum been thrown in the pool. He doesn't owe her anything. She's a backstabbing, coniving little witch. Next time you watch, keep both eyes open.

What a childish, immature thing for Heather to do to throw a drink at somene in public. She was so out of line plus most of it landed on the lady who was standing near you. Did she even apologize to her? All I can say is good thing for her it didn't land on me. I don't blame you, Madison for firing her.
I love Madison. Heather was wrong for mixing business with pleasure. The minute she started dating that idiot Josh A she changed. If she worked for Madison for so long her loyalty should have remained with Madison. If you sleep with dog your gonna end up in the end snd get flees.

Madison, you were betrayed by Heather. She was looking to help herself and leave to venture out on her own anyway so your loss is no loss. Its a blessing she's gone now. I love the show and I love all 3 of you guys.
I can't believe you fired an assistant that had been with you for three years because she brought you a co-listing that would have made you a commission. Even if you thought it was a bad idea, you could have just explained to her that she needed to walk away. You could have worked out with her the boundaries of your new arrangement. Maybe it was a bad decision on her part to accept it, but it was a listing and she thought you would be happy. Then you have the temerity not to pay her for past work owed? Someone who you regarded as a sister? Then she is not even allowed to ask for a recommendation? I can see why she got so emotional and behaved that way, even if it was unwise.
