It's All About Fredrik

No matter what's happened between him and Fredrik, Luis wants to congratulate Mr. Eklund on his marriage.

By Luis D. Ortiz

This is a very emotional episode. Not only are we getting to the end of this season, which makes me a bit sad, but it is also the episode where Fredrik gets married.

Regardless of everything that has happened between Fredrik, Ryan, and myself, tonight I have to put personal things aside and say that this episode needed to be about Fredrik. This episode makes a strong statement to today's society. It shows that no matter what your thoughts are about gay marriage, at the end of the day we all have the same basic emotions and go through the same roller coaster ride to fight for the one we love. Gay or straight, we all deserve to one day share a moment like Fredrik's wedding with our loved one. And regardless of their sexual orientation, today was simply about two human beings that love each other and will give anything to be with each other. True love! I am sure everyone can relate to that. This in itself is much more important than the real estate we sell or don't sell.

After following Fredrik's character (that many love to watch and others love to hate), tonight all that was put aside while we witnessed the reason he is the way he is by following the most important day of these two men's lives. This was a very crucial time for Fredrik. He was in the middle of selling the biggest development of his career and getting married to the love of his life, all at the same time.

During the wedding activities Fredrick chose to keep on focusing on his work and trying to close deals, because he is used to a lifestyle of work comes first. As the episode continues, we begin to understand where Fredrik gets this mentality from -- his father. Growing up his father spent more time at work than with his family. He dedicated his entire life to his job. But now we see that after many years, Fredrik's father has understood what the most important things in life are, family always being first. His father wants to save him from making the same mistakes he did and to get him to understand that at the end of the day the most important thing will always be your loved ones and how you spent your time with them. I am sure that Fredrik will do everything in his power to find this much needed balance.

This episode also helps portray what our lives as real estate brokers in the fastest city in the world are like. People constantly judge Fredrik, Ryan, and myself without understanding the reason behind everything we do and the motivations surrounding our actions. We are passionate human beings that work endlessly and would do whatever it takes to achieve greatness. We are warriors that would sacrifice anything to move forward and to not look back. We compete to be the best without sometimes seeing what we do wrong, all of that, with nothing but the best intentions. We move up very fast but we pay the price to be on our own and have no one to share it with. Our ambition and drive to succeed in this industry can hold us back from focusing on all the other aspects of our lives. For that reason it is very hard to slow down when we meet the one person we want to spend the rest of our lives with. In the end, we all have to find a balance, and it seems that Fredrik has found it and I couldn't be happier for him. As for me, I'm still young so I'm going full force, but I know that some day I will have to slow down and balance myself as well.

I will still fight with anyone to be the best, but tonight I toast to Fredrik and Derek! Congrats!
