A Luxury Automaker Just Made a Baller Yacht, Plans to Sell Just 10 of Them

A classic 1930s car inspired the sleek design.

Mercedes is obviously well known for making cars synonymous with status — but the brand is now making a new ride that blows the old standard for luxury completely out of the (ahem) water. Indeed, Mercedes has created a $1.7 million yacht... and is only selling 10 of them.

While it’s not the biggest yacht we’ve ever seen, it’s very fast, and the futuristic design — the reason behind its name, Silver Arrow of the Seas — is top of the line.

This yacht has been in the works since 1012 and was unveiled at the Monaco yacht show that year. You won’t be able to buy it until 2017, and the brand plans to sell it in 10 different countries — just one yacht in each — making it very rare.

Technically speaking, it’s the “Arrow460-Grandturismo yacht” and it has 960 horsepower. It can travel at a speed of 40 knots. So, yes that’s fast!

At 46 feet, it’s not huge — and because of its smaller size, it even has pull-out beds. The design is based off the Silver Arrow car from the 1930s. The top comes off for an optional sunroof, and it can fit about 10 people comfortably.

While it doesn’t have a helipad or gym, it does have an ice-maker and air conditioning as its main luxury listings: That comparison puts into perspective why this yacht is $1.7 million, and others like Roman Abramovich’s yachts cost around $1.5 billion.

If you want to get on board, there is one docked in Monaco and you can reserve a visit online.
