You Can Have the Hamptons Vacation Home Matt Lauer Ditched for a Massive Upgrade

The wee cottage will set you back a cool $4 million (but wait till you see the backyard).

Who’s interested in Matt Lauer’s sloppy seconds? (That’s us raising our hand wildly in the air.)

The Today Show host has listed his listed his relatively modest Hamptons home for $3.95 million, according to Variety. But where will he go you ask? Well, he’ll be plenty comfortable in his new $33 million home, formerly owned by Richard Gere.

But back to the cottage on the market, just about 10 miles away, which Lauer bought in 2009 for $2.15 million: It offers a cozy 1,800 square feet of living space in the North Sea area of the Hamptons. It has three bedrooms, and two baths, and is done in a Cape Cod style.

What the home lacks in size, the lot makes up for: The property includes nearly three-quarters of an acre, a grassy scene overlooking a lake. The house also has a private boat dock, so that’s basically a backyard dreams are made of.

So until we save up our own $33 million, we'd accept this property as our vacation lodging — if we must.
