My Autobiography

Josh explains his creative process and how he finished his book.

By Josh Flagg

Wow! What a week. Believe it or not waking up to 37 new emails is really low for me. I was excited to hear from my friend and client, Jason. He is a great client to have, and he is constantly wanting to buy a new house and then move on. The first deal we did together was on a house he purchased in Brentwood Park. He paid $14 million for it and nine months later I sold it for him for $14.5 million (Ah the good old sky-rocketing price days).

Heartridge is a great estate, it has massive grounds and is very private. However it is 45 minutes away from Beverly Hills. I knew right off the bat none of my buyers would even be open to seeing something so far away. The house really sells itself, it has all the bells and whistles. The toughest part of this whole listing was getting people in the door. Normally in my open houses I have some kind of outrageous attraction, but this time I knew I had to tone it down. I needed people to notice the house and want to come back. The catered lunch I had was perfect, it got people in and the food was so amazing it kept them around. And thankfully I had Lupe the housekeeper around to entertain me, she was very funny.

I am so excited that all of you got to see the process of me writing my book. Writing a book about how to make a very successful career in real estate is something I have been thinking about doing for a while. I never did, because I could never find the time. Thank god my wonderful Grandmother gave me a push to do it. I knew the only way I could get this done is if I locked myself up in a room and just did it. That is why I checked into a hotel. The first day was really rough, and getting started was hard because I didn't know what to start with. Thankfully my Mother's advice of starting from the "beginning" lit a spark in my brain. So I started from day one. The book serves two purposes: it is in a way my autobiography and a how to guide in making it in the high end real estate market. I held nothing back and had a great time thinking back on my life and all the amazing things I have been able to do. I don't think I left that hotel room for two weeks, I wrote day and night. The book is something I am really proud of, and it is available for pre-order and as an ebook at http://www.JoshFlaggBook.com and will be released on March 22nd. I hope you all enjoy it!

Tune in next week, I have a big surprise for you!
