What Should Kim Kardashian do With her Wedding Gifts?

The Countess lays down the law on post-divorce gift etiquette.

Monday's announcement that Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries are divorcing after 72 days of marriage touched off a flurry of questions: Did their differing careers unhinge the relationship? Was family the underlying cause? Was the whole thing just a publicity stunt? We can't help with those, but The Countess herself has weighed in on at least one burning question: What should the couple do with their wedding presents?

Responding to a question our Andy Cohen through out on Twitter, The Real Housewives of New York City's LuAnn de Lesseps says the couple should not hold on to their matrimonial stash. "Def return gifts or donate them to a charity and do some good!" the Countess tweeted.

The Countess is not alone. Several notable etiquette experts agree, including Lizzie Post, author of Emily Post’s Etiquette 18th Edition, who told the New York Daily News, “The rule of thumb is if the marriage ends after just six months, you should return the unused gifts. After just 72 days, the gifts must be returned to the wedding guest.” And as for the gifts that the couple did manage to use, WeddingChannel.com's Sarah Newell agrees with LuAnn that those should go to charity. “No one wants anything used returned to them," she tells the Daily News.
