Hayden's Home Takeover

Jenni hopes she and Jeff were able to help Stewart and Samantha find some balance.

Hayden's Home Takeover

Samantha and Stewart Bick live in Beverly Hills with their three year old son Hayden. Jeff and I walked into their home and immediately realized who dominated their 90210 space.  Sure, Stewart is in the business of manufacturing high end furniture so there were many abandoned pieces struggling to fit in together.

Yes, Samantha had chosen some pieces that maybe did not mesh with what Stewart had brought home over the years.

It was Hayden, however, who actually had taken over.

The living room was covered in toys and a large play mat, which Jeff referred to as "the only thing that brought color." Art projects covered the kitchen countertops, and bathroom toys were strewn about.

As a new mother, it is much easier for me to now understand how this can easily become the way of life. As a new mother, you want your entire existence to be about your little angel. I get it.

However, for Stewart and Samantha things had spiraled way out of control.Hayden seemed to be smarter than both Jeff and I put together; neither of us can recite all the planets and know their exact location.

The Planets Don't Revolve around the Sun

Jeff said "no thanks" he was "good" when asked to join in with the teeth brushing session.
After the crying, I caved and watched Hayden Brush brush, brush his teeth (shameless plug…buy my rap album on iTunes).

We decided to tackle the bedroom, because it was lacking happiness and life.

At first, the Bicks seemed disappointed by this choice, since they thought the living room would serve them better. We moved forward and started to try to make them see that they needed balance in their life.

Samantha was initially more open than Stewart to our observations; she did feel they were in a rut.Stewart had a hard time trusting us and he was very challenging.  He claimed after furniture shopping that he was dyslexic. Jeff called bullish-- on that.

I do believe Stewart could not visualize, but he also did not trust that Jeff would create an amazing end result, and that became frustrating for us both.

We finally were able to confront Stewart, and at the hotel he finally did maybe absorb what we were trying to tell him about creating balance and not being so defensive and argumentative with Samantha.

Zoila learned she was muy caliente…in bed.

We were able to surprise the Bicks and redo the living room as well, since we had some extra money left in our design budget.

The space had transformed into a sophisticated and inviting home. The Bicks were very responsive to their new space.I was very touched by their reaction, especially Stewart.  He was blown away by the transformation, and I think realized we were on their side the whole time. He even didn't seem bothered by the height of the bedroom chandelier!

Jeff did a beautiful job with both rooms, and we hopefully gave them a new jump start on their relationship and a bit of balance in their life that they were lacking.

Jeff and I helping create balance?  God help us.

Hayden, if my daughter needs a tutor, can I call you?

Next week, the Beechers, who should change their name to the Bickersons! He's dirty and still living like a slob bachelor and she has had enough and subsequently taken on the role of nagging Mommy -- enter Jeff and Jenni…and of course Zoila!
