Wow, well that definitely was a finale; “Charitable to a Fault” seemed to not only be the title, but the theme for the entire episode.
But what exactly constitutes a “charity” for the NYC Prep crowd? Taking Taylor under your wing? “Saving” PC from himself? I thought the focus of a charity was to help the ones in need.
My collision with Jessie over Operation Smile is an example; I really wanted to help, even to the point of writing a letter to people in my school informing them about the organization. But Jessie’s main concern was who was going to get the credit.
Jessie’s “babysitting” comments were totally condescending and out of line. The fact is that I started to try to get people from my school involved in the organization as we discussed, and I gave her my information with the understanding that she would contact me. Why would I spend so much time trying to join an organization and then not follow through? In my opinion, it’s the responsibility of the leader to quickly reach out even if only to say ‘here is my email address.’ If I fail to follow-up then it’s my fault for not taking the initiative. All I was given was a vague “join the Operation Smile facebook group.” I’m not anywhere close to perfect and I could have been better at follow-up by joining every Operation Smile facebook group that exists (you’d be surprised at the number). But personalities aside, in the end I’ll blame it on miscommunication and that’s my “charitable” analysis of our argument. And let bygones be bygones.
The last episode was perfect. However I did find it condescending for you to tell Taylor that when you are a senior next year you can show her around the prep school scene? So are you trying to make her your social experiment too ,kinda like PC?? Just because someone doesnt have the privledge alot of you have doeant mean they should be treated like a lab rat.
I think out of all the cast, including PC and Jessie, you're definetly the most mature. I thought Jessie was really mean to you over the operation smiles thing.
If you knew that Jessie wasn't communicating with you about operation smile then you should have joined another organization instead of waiting around for Jessie. It seems like you wanted the easy way out to just join operation smile because you thought you could easily join the board.
My favorite quality about you is that you are friends with everybody and you don't let anybody get in your way when you know you want to accomplish something. I think the reason you and Jessie don't get along is because your a lot alike. Ya'll both are straightforward and demand respect when you walk into a room. I can see you being the Jessie of next season, just without the selfishness. She made that charity all about her.
I do really admire you and Kelli the most. I agree about the final conversation with Jessie, you really had a reason to be a bitch to Jessie; you seemed taken aback by that confrontation and I honestly thought you were going to go off on her!
At age 16/17 yrs., you certainly seem to be developing the ability of self-reflection -- a facet of maturity; you set a good example by admitting to a bit of "in the moment cattiness." I am hoping that BRAVO will continue with this series and that we viewers are able to see you and your friends branch out even more in your personal/social endeavors. With respect to Operation Smile -- there are so many other worthwhile charities/causes out there .... Have you ever thought of ititiating a liason with one of the IB (International Baccalaureate) programs in the area? I think that you would do very well in this sphere ....
You are adorable and, no doubt, a 45 year old posing as a teenager! What poise and wisdom, must be a NYC kid!
Camille...I am very active in charities, the best and only way you'll make your mark in any of them, is not to depend on anyone. People are desperatly busy, they cannot train you, or coach you. Pick up the sword with passion and you will find a way to make it work, perhaps Jessie was waiting for you to show your passion. You could have asked her for her email, there is always more than one way to get things moving. When you spoke to the heads of OP Smile, you dissed Jessie. there was no reason to blame her, if you felt she was to blame, you don't put her her down in the organization she is hosting an event for. Just let them know your very itnerested in next year. If it had been me and you approached me that way, I would in all honesty, be wary of you and find less public ways, if any for you to help. Charity work can never be about "you" it always needs to be about the charity, if you have to help by cleaning up after events to show your interested, then do it and have a smile on your face. You'll achieve real dreams if you walk before trying to run, and dont run anyone over in the process.
Because I like you CamCam and dont want any idiots to harass you for it, you should fix the spelling of Au Revoir :).
Actually--I would like to see what all of you could do on your own. In the real world. With no connections, money, or vacation homes. Prep for the SAT's from a study-guide, not a private tutor. Work a part-time job and go to school--high school. Take out student loans to pay for college, or work for a scholarship. Give time to a charity for the actually charitable good, not to pad a resume'. Your response, clearly will be "jealous." Perhaps so. However, I am independent and self-made. Something none of the NYC prepsters will ever be able to claim.
Dear Camille, Of all the cast you were the best of the bunch - as far as Jessie goes - what goes around comes around - I loved it when she fell on her you know what! HAHA!
Well Camille--I really can't say anything critical of you given that you are the only cast member that maintained a blog. Thanks for that. I hope you get into Harvard. I'm sure you will.
Pema is right on the mark. Charity work is not about you but about helping others. The event was great but you showed your true self through your actions and snide comments. I think waiting until your senior year to do community service is a little late for your college package. They look for students who have a real interest in helping people not just for show. Your true colors were shinning bright the night of the event!
P.C. I think you a very sweet smart guy. You are right about jessie. She is very controlling person. you have figured out all of your friends, accurately. But none of your friends show you respect. I think you need to figure who you are soon. Where are your parents?
Although Jessie was completely out of line and rude to you; I believe you are just as catty and crude yourself. The "cattiness" you showed at the charity event that you were so eager to join, and complained about not gettin into, was sad on your part. It doesn't matter what the models or clothes looked like. The event was done for the children you have been preaching about, and to sit in a corner and diss everything was out of line as well. You'll fill Jessie's shoes perfectly next year. You are both the same.
I completely agree with you on how a charity is for those in need and not all about the people who are a part of putting it together. (Although they are the ones who should get credit) You are such a mature young lady, and frankly I would be BEYOND embarassed if I were you with the way you acted in the finale during the fashion show.
Thanks for your perspective of what happened in the last episode. As someone who is not friends with any one of your little cast of characters, I wound up liking you and PC the best. You are focused on whats important, you don't get yourself all tangled up in the behavior of others, although you do like your good gossip. But be careful about that, it could come back to bite you in the butt someday.
Kelli now I see her star shining in music. She has a good head on her shoulder's and with her connections with that producer or promoter I see her going places in her life. She's good people, and obviously to be allowed to live in NYC alone (not too fond of that decision) shows she is trustworthy. With Sebastian I think he is gorgeous, and will always be successful with the ladies. Its hard to think he is only 14, and immature. When he becomes a man, watch out !!!
Camille sorry I'm using your blog space to comment on everyone since no one had the courage or TIME to write their own. PC, what can I say, PC is a confused young man, but I think he will windup working things out in his life. Thank God he is leaving NY for LA, just to get away from Jessie and her need to control PC. Leave him alone Jessie, your probably the reason he is in therapy in the first place. Your past over protective of him, you are out of line. Tayloe, sweet girl, but I have to remember she is young, she is allowed to be immature because thats what she is. I think as time passes and she matures, she will also be a successful young woman. Just give time, time.
My one last thought here and then I'm done. I don't like the attitude of all the players in the game, going to private schools are teaching you only that your parents were successful enough to afford the schools. But the schools are teaching you that you have this entitlement, and better than those poor public school kids. Its just not so. I didn't grow up in NYC, but I certainly spent alot of time in my life in NY, and I don't think because your a NYC kid, you mature faster, you just learn you can get anything in life that you want with no limits. NYC Prep School kids are no different than any other kid just fighting their way to make something of themselves. Your show depects a shallowness to all the characters. Big deal you went to Prep School, big deal you are growing up in one of the greatest cities in the world. Step outside that box, and you all would be nothing but a bunch of average kids.
You missed the boat on operation smile because you waited for Jesse- if you wanted it bad enough you should have found away to go around Jesse- to her boss.
Picking the night of the event to tattle on her for not letting you participate was low. Also, your comments about the event- during the event was just wrong. I mean you have to admit, Jesse did a good job. I don't think you could do what she did.
I think you are an awesome young lady... but it might behoove you to rise a bit above your peers. Don't lower yourself. I know it's hard- but when someone like Jess is showing her lack of breeding- it's your opportunity to come out shining and on top. Take those opportunities Camille and you will go far in life.
Well Camille with what I saw on the show I have to agree with you completely. You are a very smart, and ambitious girl and I think Jesse was perhaps threatened. Jesse definitely wanted to hold the spotlight on 'her' night. It was very Park Avenue I must admit. I hope you learn from the whole incident and change how the whole system is run next year.
Don't worry about your appearance on the last episode. Jessie was definitely being unprofessional- even Carmen Marc Valvo was nicer to her when she was late! I enjoyed your witty personality and classy sense of style in the last few episodes (that's when I tuned in). Good luck in the future. A bientôt!
I don’t think you realize that if you want something done then you have to do it yourself. I like Jesse because she does not hold back and you need to be told the truth. You don’t want for someone else. You do it. Jessie was right about everything. I think you are very rude person putting your friends hopes down because you don’t agree. College is not for everyone so if your. For you to act like going up in NYC is the best thing next to slice pie and it is not. I got into Harvard and did go. But I did not have to go to a private school to do. I hope after watching yourself on this show will open your eyes on how you treat people. I believe that you can be a better person then what you come off as on the show.
Great season, Camille! Jessie was definitely being too self-centered and rude, but I think you handled it well. Hopefully you have better luck with Operation Smile next year!
It's refreshing to see someone on these Bravo shows taking full responsibility for something (your behavior at the Operation Smile event). Not your most stellar of moments. But we all have so many moments like those in our lives, but with no cameras around to air it to millions of people. If you can survive a show like this, I think you can do just about anything. You've demonstrated a lot of strength. Maybe you also showed that you have a little bit of growing up to do and that you're only human. You're young! That's normal. There are worse things.
I think Jessie needs to brihgten up! She think she is the boss of everything and she isn't. Operation Smile was for everybody could participate in. Who is she too tell you(Camille) that you cannot be apart of it. That's unreal!!! I think you are a very intelligent girl and so she but she is not the boss of Operation Smile.
Dearest Camille, You should care less about impressing the snotty Jessies of the world and be happy with yourself. Shine on, little one!
I don't think Jessie was harsh at all. If you wanted to do something, then do it, its not that hard. Just like at the event you wanted to make it clear to the heads of Operation Smile, that Jessie "held" you back, and you did. Being from nyc you should know talk is cheap and actions speak louder than words, stop whinning about it and get up and be proactive.
I enjoyed NYC Prep and I am wondering - will there be a reunion show and has the show been renewed for another season?
I think you are a fantastic girl Camille - very responsible and bright. Little bit on the uptight side, but hey, you'll learn to relax as you mature into an independent women.
And don't worry too much about getting a boyfriend right now, you'll have plenty of time to fall in love with the right man. Men need time to grow up you know haha and you'll probably be annoyed at how immature they are at your age if you start dating now.
Best of luck in getting into the school of your dreams. I don't think anyone has any doubt you'll be a successful women.
Camille, I luv u!!! Ur awesome!!! Ur smart and sophisticated and I really hope u get into Harvard or where ever else u wanna go!!!
Luv your fan,
