Now in her fourth season of Housewives, Alex McCord continues to balance family life with her merchandising and design career, other business interests and thriving charity and social calendar. From her home office, Alex spearheads various design projects, including a major renovation of the Fifth Avenue showroom of Manhattan's oldest camera store, Willoughbys. Her husband and side-kick Simon van Kempen has started a social media company and has also left the hotel property he managed for nine years in favor of returning to the hotel consulting career he loved when he and Alex met. Simon now also works from home, which adds a new layer to their life together. Their book about raising their young children, 'Little Kids, Big City,' was released in 2010 and continues to sell, as their older son François turns seven and transitions to a new school, while son Johan celebrates his fifth birthday. Alex continues to speak her mind and feels freer for it, though not all the ladies appreciate it! As a team, she and Simon continue to tinker with their home, and (as always) express their love of each other, their boys, and fashion. These days Alex sometimes finds herself on runways or in front of the camera, thanks to signing with New York Model Management. Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Kansas, Texas and the US Virgin Islands, Alex attended Northwestern University, and has lived in New York City for 15 years and counting. She and Simon share their townhouse with their sons, affectionately referred to as “the chums” and their two lovable but constantly shedding cats, and continue to be proud to live in the largest borough of New York City, Brooklyn.
