Jessica Chastain Seriously Looked Out for Octavia Spencer and Jada Pinkett Smith

The actress ensured equal pay for her co-workers on an upcoming comedy.

Jessica Chastain was genuinely shocked when she heard Octavia Spencer say that her actress colleagues of color make far less money on the whole, and she immediately did something about it.

"I love that woman, because she's walking the walk and she's actually talking the talk," Spencer said tearfully while speaking on a panel at the Sundance Film Festival. "[Chastain] said, 'Octavia, we're gonna get you paid on this film.'"

According to CNN, the two are set to appear in a yet-to-be-announced comedy with Jada Pinkett Smith, and Jessica helped them both get a much-higher salary than what they requested.

"She said, 'You and I are gonna be tied together. We're gonna be favored nations, and we're gonna make the same thing. You are going to make that amount,'" Spencer said. "Fast-forward to last week, we're making five times what we asked for."

Also slated this year for Jessica is a starring role as country singer Tammy Wynette in the biopic George and Tammy.
