The Crown's Matt Smith Says Life as Meghan Markle Knew It Is Now Gone

He only plays a prince on television, but he's seen the Royal effect.

Meghan Markle is entering a new world of Royal fabulousness, but at what cost? Privacy, for one.

"I feel sorry for her," Matt Smith, star of Netflix series The Crown, said of Meghan's future while speaking at a Vanity Fair event at the 92nd St. Y in New York City, which was reported by TV Guide.

The fictional television prince (who returns with season two of The Crown on Friday) knows what intrusions his fame has brought him, which might explain why he doesn't sound that thrilled for Meghan.

"It's such a transition in her life, and it's such a huge thing to take on. Life as she knows it is gone. But hey, she's marrying the prince of Britain — how exciting for her."

But Matt — she's getting two cakes at her wedding! How bad could it be?!
