So yes, this show is about babies, but I had to start this recap with The Kiki Twins. I myself was a bit confused as to what "kiki" might be (other than a name I haven't heard in quite some time), so like any good website editor I hit the internet for clues. The most likely definition in light of the "Step Touch" performance went as follows, "Kiki is also a verb, like to party or to get overly excited catching up with your girlfriends." I for one was definitely over excited when the fashion fraternal twins hit the stage for Tanya's baby shower. The other guests were, well, maybe not over excited, but I'd say at least mildly amused. Really though, what is an appropriate act to book for a baby shower?
Which brings us to Tanya's assistant, Dan. How cute was that fabulous, little, rosy-cheeked guy? After what turned into a pride parade of questionable candidates during the search for a "fun, gay assistant," he was truly the light at the end of the rainbow tunnel. Although it would have been great to see the candidate who did the runway walk vogue his way through all of the errands for Tanya's party.
And poor Dan just couldn't catch a break. I really felt for him as he ran around the Upper East Side sporting turquoise skinny jeans, suspenders, and a white buttondown with a popped collar while holding a hundred ballons, a flower arrangement, and a cakebox. And of course doing all of this while fielding Tanya's unrelenting phone calls. Thank goodness Rosie knows her way around both cakes and babies, because I thought Dan would have become even redder if they hadn't been able to fix the cake icing crisis. At the end of the day, everyone was happy, so well done Team Rosie Pope!
