You can choose your friends, but not your family
Thank you so much for all of your support; I’m incredibly grateful. The last few episodes have been interesting for me. I’ve been watching a lot of what has been going on and thankfully removed from the drama. I unfortunately can’t be at all of these events because I have work, but have tried to be as much as I can.
I’m very lucky that Chanel introduced me to Ashlee. I had the most amazing time at her house. I’ve been beyond fortunate to get to know Ashlee and her family. Ilene and Hal are extremely warm, welcoming people, and it's no surprise they've been married for over 40 years. When they invited me over for dinner we had a lot more to talk about than just speed dating. I told them about my parents and how I wished I could fix the relationship with my father: “You can choose your friends, but not your family.” -Harper Lee. I love seeing how close Ashlee is with Hal because I hope one day when I have children that don’t have to experience what I went through with my father being absent. I’m very open to sharing this because divorce is extremely common now, and marriage is not something to take lightly. It’s very important to get married because you love the person, not because you're getting older, and you're nervous you’ll never find someone. My father is my father and a part of me. I’m really looking forward to working on this relationship.

I just saw the episode where Casey had dinner with Ashlee's family, I must say, are those two girls frigin nuts? Joey is rude to Ashlee? I have never seen two more rude immature witches in my life! The way they treated Joey on that speed dating thing was appalling! So what if she was being goofy, and asked 1 inappropriate question, you don't treat someone the way, it's was so gross.
You are not doing any favors to by catering to that mental case who is a vile human being. Shame on you. YOU BOTH need mental assistance. Who holds grudges from high school. My GOD
If you are true friend to Ashlee, help get her some good mental help. I think she might be beyond repair.
Hey Casey, I hope you are able to work on your relationship with your dad, or just do whatever it takes to sort out all that anger and frustration that you've probably felt all these years. I'm sure it takes years to heal these types of wounds, but it's best to at least try, especially when there's nothing to lose, and everything to gain.
As far as Ashlee goes: I think her parents are indeed very sweet, warm people, and I think it is endearing to see you laughing and smiling when you're around them; you seem to take down your guard, which is cool. I would just be careful about confiding too much in someone who can be so condescending towards others, and say such demeaning, superficial things. She reminds me of the quote: “A person who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person” =/
I love Ashlee's parents too. I know that they've spoiled her and maybe beyond repair, but her parents are adorable and they love they have for their kids is very apparent.
Oh my goodness. I wouldn't be so proud of having a good friend like "Ashlee", who is possibly the most ignorant, self-absorbed, dependent person I have ever come across. And, you, my dear are NOT the only person who came from a broken home. Most of us learn to be stronger from it and don't bring everyone down with the constant chatter about it. You belong with Ashlee. Have you watched this show, and realized you hardly ever smile? Life is too short and you're way too young to hold onto your bitterness.
Here's a proverb for you - when you lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas. Keep Ashlee at arm's length, she's one of the most judgmental, ridiculous people EVER on any Bravo show. You seem smarter than to think she's so great, I realize you're in the show but have you watched the show?!!
I'm glad you're happy being Ashlee's friend. Please be careful with her, I don't like her. She is very condescending to Joey. I'm a new viewer and I intend on catching up on previous episodes, but life comes as it is. It is viewed as it comes. What I saw of Ashlee infuriated me. What 30 year old gets into an argument with another woman and calls her dad? She had her dad run for a brush for her on national TV. I would never embarrass my parents like that. I hope she's a true friend. She seems like a fairweather friend to me. But you seem to be able to handle yourself so I'll keep watching. I like this show!!
