Hi Bravo readers,
I am so excited for you to read my first blog entry! For those of you who don't know me, my name is Chanel Omari! Growing up on Long Island, my group of friends have nicknamed me "coco" for short, and I have always been known as the mover and shaker throughout my community. My greatest passion is bringing people together and trying to make peace whenever and wherever I can. However, all I can say from the get-go is I am not the messiah and not perfect, but I am all about giving love, being soulful about life, and trying to find my own silver linning in all aspects of my life. I am looking forward for you to grow with me on this journey!
I come from a modern orthodox family, which means we keep kosher, the Sabbath, and we are really observant when it comes to Jewish traditions. It's challenging for me to be as religious as my family. I am trying to apply our Jewish traditions in a more modern way and in my own way. When I saw Erica and her family not knowing if the hot dogs were kosher, it took me a little aback, because Erica and I have been friends for so long, and she knows how important it is for me to keep kosher meats, but at the same time, I am not holding it against them because they aren't as observant as my family, which is OK, and everyone has their own rules when it comes to faith, and I can't be the judge of that. It's between them and G-d
I think that was disrespectful of Erica and her family to be lying about the hot dog. Especially from a long time friend of yours. Aren't you curious about your friendship? I would never treated my guests like that especially when it comes to my friends.
Chanel, you a kitten and seem to have a brain. It does seem you are about good vibes have not pedestaled yourself too much. Always remember: Feet on the ground if your head is in the clouds. Love comes when you least expect it.
Chanel, ma belle: there's nothing wrong with you that getting some mature, kind friends couldn't cure. You seem very good-hearted, and I cannot imagine a man cutting through that thorny bunch to meet you, see how lovely you are. Laraine is right: don't force it to happen--it will, but only if you stay true to your principles and keep from getting dragged down by women not fit for prime time.
I agree with some other commenters that you and Joey are the stand-outs in this crowd. It is of no surprise to me or the general viewing public why these other girls are still single. Wow. I don't see that changing for them anytime soon. They are the epitome of what most sane, stable men veer away from - self absorbed, whining, spoiled 'girls' who think they are entitled to everything they want on someone else's dime. Good luck out there, 'princesses.' And Lauren, I know it might be difficult, but you are stressing too much about finding someone to marry. It will happen for you when you least expect it. Stop forcing it to happen. Chill out, relax and let him come to you.
You and Joey were the only ones that were not offensive and ignorant. I like that you could laugh at yourself and actually see what is going on in front of you.
love the show...seems like to will be drama filled.. which come on, we know is the reason we will all watch... but time to tell your friend the truth...you must notice jeff might be more attracted to those "trainers" then your friend!!
I'm not sure who should be more embarrassed? BRAVO or the 97% of Long Island who's not represented. Ladies, there is no surprised why you are not yet married.
I've lived on LI my entire life and have had many friends who lived on the North Shore. I've NEVER met ANYONE like this.
Lastly, I'm also 4 foot 9 inches tall..... I'VE NEVER asked anyone to give me a piggy back ride publicly because I cannot / will not wear flats! For goodness sakes, hold your head up high and act / walk like a grown woman.
BRAVO - congratulations, you've embarrassed yourself.
I think this show is a horrible representation of us Long Islanders. You girls are showing the 5% that are in your situation when many of us are loosing our jobs and homes. If I was an outsider and saw this show, I would think everyone on Long Island was Jewish, wealthy and pretentious. Newsflash, no one is really like that. I come from Long Island and I know how hard it is to break the stereotype of the "typical Long Island girl". You girls obviously haven't traveled much off the Island otherwise you would understand how difficult it is to tell people "we're not all wealthy and snobby". Don't get me wrong, there are many wonderfully beautiful places on the Island, but the "ghetto's" you speak of aren't nearly as bad as other areas. SO why don't you stop pretending we're all like this when it just seems to be your group of friends that are the dumb, pretentious, snobby, "trophy wife" material. You're dragging down our name as Long Islanders and you should be ashamed of yourself. Come out to Stony Brook/ Setauket and see what a REAL Long Islander is like. Not your trash.
This show must be taped on a different planet from the one I inhabit! You are easy to like, but I don't understand why an intelligent and attractive person such as yourself would still be living at home instead of going out and working for a living. Those guys at that party were extremely attractive and also seemed nice. Why not go out with someone who may not be a multimillionaire? As for Amanda & Jeff: red bikini girl might have been doing her a big favor, and not because Jeff might be gay. There is just something kind of creepy about him.
First I want to say I was born and raised on the North Shore of Long Island and there was no one like any of you girls, You girlsare from Great Neck big difference. Second Who the hell does Ashlee thinks she is having the nail salon man carry her to her car, that chubby little girl probably hurt his back, what a snob I would have said walk your self and her father was ther watching, what a bunch of nobodies pretending to be somebody. Ashlee should be ashamed of herself I noticed she didn't have a blog, probably because she knows to many people would tell her what a brat she is. Didn't her parents ever teach her to respect others???? Did she ever hear the saying " Treat people the way you want to be treated". She's phong but a big brat.
Completely embarrassed by this show, this is NOT the typical Long Island girl....totally disgusted...
i grew up in garden city LI, partied in the hamptons , cant say i ever met any princesses but lots of godesses. Maybe you should look outside the lines, Paint your own masterpiece.
Chanel It was disgusting that they knowingly misled you on something as important to anyone as their religious customs and traditions. Myself, as a Jewish person, am shocked and embarassed to have Erica and her family be representative of our religion on national television. As well regardless of reform, conservative, or orthodox, they committed a grievous sin!
Seriously! A show where there is some kind of mystery about why these women/immature spoiled brats are not married? Give me a break... after watching them on TV, I am sure there will be all kinds of men knocking their doors down... NOT
I have to tell you as a long island girl i am embarrassed you seem like a nice girl and i hope you find your prince charming but your friends...........really! For everyone else watching this show and reading this blog we are not all like this very poor representation bravo you must have really hung out in some shady places to find this bunch
@Laraine Hi...Totally agree with you with the exception I think you may have made a name mistake at the end of your comment regarding Lauren being stressed out to find someone when you meant Chanel. Am I right? She's the 27 year old and not married,
@NameChange Yes...he looks like Kramer from Seinfeld! ha!
Yes, thank you for catching that! I did, in fact, mean Chanel. She'll find her guy. Just let it happen.
