In this week's transformation challenge, we had another situation where we were dealing with reality and a lot of them got tripped up. I think the minute you hear, "Oh she's going to work," I never would have imagined that young people would have such old-fashioned ideas. The next thing you know she's Melanie Griffith and she's taking the Staten Island ferry. She's got sneakers on and a briefcase.

Although not exactly couture, Anthropologie is a popular chain retailer frequented by young people. To me, the store looks like a combination of fun things in your grandmother's attic aired out and altered with a few embellishments added ... displayed in a store that resembles an 8 year old's tea party ... but all grown up and refuses proper high noon tea service because the fantasy tea party is just more fun. After all, some of our friends would be excluded from proper high noon tea ... like nymphs, centaurs, and our tattooed poet friend who's earnings from bar tending pays his rent ... and text messaging service.
So the popularity of this resurgence of old-fashioned ideas doesn't seem too surprising ... at least ... not for me.
