So as soon as I thought my 27th birthday couldn't get any better ... it did!
After a very busy past few months, I was adamant about having a birthday party where EVERYONE was allowed to relax and chill out, not just me. Thus, the idea of a day-time slumber party was born! Kieran hosted the party, supplying pillows, mattresses and blankets galore, while everyone else was simply asked to wear their pajamas, and bring a little something to share. My roomie and delightful friend Caroline undertook the role of dueling chefs, sharing the responsibility of cooking/prepping brunch and dinner for fifteen ... which is no easy task.
After a healthy tuck-in everyone played a game of MAFIA, which in case you don't know what it is, click HERE to read all about the rules. Needless to say, I was killed off first and was forced to play dead for the rest of the game ... not fun when there are cupcakes to be eaten just feet away from me!
We then watched Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? a horrifically fantastic movie starring the lovely Joan Crawford
and the delightfully disturbing Bette Davis
and the tumultuous relationship the two sisters have ... if you haven't seen it, you should. My reaction was as follows:
The rest of the night was a blur of junk food binging, Death Becomes Her, and more junk food. Oh, and the delightful Biggie Smalls, the most lovable long-haired Chihuahua to ever be.
We were later graced with the musical stylings of Mark and Graham on the piano
and a mid-day walk to keep us from being complete and utter lazy asses ... we felt a little like Japanese tourists traveling in such a large group.
The night slowly crept on, people leaving after a few hours but not before "signing" the guest book by drawing a picture of themselves; yes, some were bad, some were good, but ALL will be cherished. I definitely recommend doing that the next party you have!
I absolutely loved this birthday and have no idea how to top it next year, but that's 12 months away so I guess I don't have to worry about it for quite awhile. Long live adolescence!!!
