Short Fuses

How can one not snap under this type of pressure?

Darlings last night's show was brought to you by Levi's. I wish they had the Levi's Euro line in America -- it's so nice.

Do you remember the really great commercials that Simon Rex and the gospel choir were in for them in the '90s? I feel like dungarees are such a staple and a multi-billion dollar business around the world. It is nice to see what they did with the creations.

Ricky made a pretty dress. It was nice to see him win. Darlings, I hope he is not sad anymore. Fashion should make you happy or you should look for another career. raterunway_01_409_220x415.jpg

I loved Christian's jeans -- they were so sexy and so sleek. This boy is so talented. So this week the room got a little warm -- I have never seen Chris get so ruffled. Nor Christian. But I understand in that environment under those hours how one could end up being a little short, not in height darlings. In fuses. raterunway_05_409_220x415.jpg

Which leaves me -- sorry my mind is racing -- Victorya went home. I have to say, I am sad she is gone. I wish her great success in all she does. I am so interested to see who is going to make it to Fashion Week. Will it be all seasoned vets or will a newbie make it in. I wonder this season because it does not seem to be about the raw talent this season. Darlings, I know who I want to be in the finals. Do you?

Darlings, I would love to see you there. I gave two tickets to Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS for my show and they are being auctioned on eBay.

Denim can be a hard fabric choice, especially when it is recycled denim. I loved Kit ... I mean Sweet P's outfit. Just kidding! That must have been a terrible feeling -- being called by the last out's name. I love that detail on her dress -- so cute and so slimming. I still cannot get over Christian's trousers. They were so hot. I would look so sexy in them ... don't you think? I have been up for too many hours -- sorry.

Imagine one day if you were standing on that catwalk and you were just drained, nothing creative was coming to you, and you had a lot of denim to work with -- what would you do? Darlings, its two weeks away from Fashion Week. I am so nervous. The collection is gorgeous. I wish you could all come. I am so excited. The hair is being done by my dear friend David Evangelista and his Cornelia salon, and the makeup is by the brilliant Margina Dennis for Make up For Ever.

I am so grateful that we have shared this journey.

I send you tremendous love. By the way, did you see my new show on Bravo.com? Let me know what you think.

You never know what tomorrow brings. One day you're in and the next you are recycling your cousin's denim and making hot shorts for your nephew who thinks he is sexy in Daisy Dukes and a striped pink polo with a matching belt and socks. That is SEXY! LOL! Sorry -- I need some sleep ....

Darlings until next week,
Chin-Chin ...

The Real Winner

No doubt about this years Project Runway 5 winner!

Just a heads up that my book Fashion Inside Out is almost upon us! Though I've heard places are starting to ship it out, the official release date is on 10/28, so mark your calendars! I'm heading out on a book tour to celebrate with you all, so be sure to check my website for details on times, dates and locations: www.danielvosovic.net. After a year and a half in the works it would be delightful to see all of your supporting faces!

But NOW, it's down to business! PR5 has finally come to an end. I hope after a week of digesting we've all be able to form clear-headed opinions about who we really thought was the winner.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I hands down think it should have been Leanne, but what did you think? Tightly edited, unique and comparable to no one, I think she did an excellent job of taking her inspiration and running it cohesively through each and every piece she sent down the runway. Unlike some of the other designers, Leanne's work is both subtle and intricate, and I applaud her to no end for being able to successfully straddle that fine line, especially at exactly the right time. Korto and Kenley both showed very nice collections, but I do think that Leanne was the one who had the whole package. Korto's sense of color and proportion are excellent, and the way she styled the looks was just intoxicating - the high buns, dewy skin, and fluttering fans - she certainly infused a lot of "earthy sexiness" into it. That being said, you take away all of the extras and we're left with clothing that didn't quite stand up to Leanne's more intricate work.

To me, watching Kenley's show was like watching your friend go into her glamorous closet, and parade out to see if the look is a "keeper" or a "throwaway." Although it was filled with definite highlights and interesting (sometimes costume-like) elements, I just didn't feel that it was a cohesive collection. One of the highlights for me was the green silk dress with the ballooned shoulders - I just thought it was a chic, well made, and truly stunning look.

All in all, these designers will find work and hopefully create stunning collections in the future. Congratulations to them all for coming this far and a HUGE congratulations to Leanne for the win! I'll see you in NYC sweetheart!

Xx
