What did you think when Tim brought you into the Hershey store in Times Square?
Oh no, am I going to have to knock someone out to get to those big Silver Hershey Kisses?
Have you ever worked with such "fabric" before?
Admittedly, I don't normally go and seek out the most uncoventional materials to work with. I always like to ask, "Would I wear that?," when I'm designing. So you can understand that the Hershey store isn't the first place I'd go to look for fabric.
How did you come up with your concept, and how did the ruffles come into the original idea?
Up until that point, I always had a snapshot image of my design as soon as we were told of the challenge. The ruffles were part of the whole design that I saw.
What did you think of the other designers' work?
I thought Rami did a great job because he did something that was so out of the box for him. Marie looked great in Kit's design, and I thought she should have been in top 3.
You seemed fairly surprised at the reaction to the garment. Did you think you'd be in the top?
Based strictly on garment design, I didn′t think I would be in the bottom, so I didn't know what I was doing there. I actually thought my dress was pretty, and from comments in the work room, from the other models, the other designers, even from the guys back stage in hair and makeup, I wasn't the only one who thought so. So I wasn't so much as surprised, as puzzled.
Do you stand by your assertion that you would wear that dress -- Michael Kors didn't seem to believe you.
Well, I wouldn′t wear that dress to go down to the corner store for the Saturday paper. Maybe Michael thought he would have looked better in that dress. Hey, after all my stress eating on chocolate throughout the work day, he probably would have.
Finally, of course, what's your favorite Hershey's candy?
I'm not a big milk chocolate fan, actually. If I eat anything, it's dark chocolate, which I actually have probably every day. And I'm not so big on candy as I am on cake and cookies, any kind. I'll take a big slice of cake any day over a candy bar.
