Four Lies You Need to Stop Believing about Coffee

No need to say goodbye to your favorite fix

If one of your New Year's resolutions was to cut back on coffee, we have good news: You can keep the cups coming. Sure, there have been a lot of negative things said about drinking coffee, but the above video proves you can't trust everything you hear. Here are four widely accepted myths about coffee that couldn't be further from the truth, courtesy of Recipe for Deception (premiering Jan 21 at 10/9c):

1.  Coffee stunts your growth.

Bone loss has everything to do with your calcium intake, not your caffeine addiction. So now you have even more reason to take a little milk with your coffee.

2.  Coffee causes dehydration.

Coffee is made of water, people!

3.  Coffee will sober you up.

This myth is a bit of a bummer. A late-night latte will not save you from a hangover.

4.  Coffee will keep you up at night.

Drinking a cup of coffee six hours before bed can delay sleep by one hour, so as long as you time your last Starbucks run correctly, you should be fine.
