Salam! (Kiss, kiss.) This week, we find ourselves heading to Las Vegas for Reza's 38th birthday. I've actually been to Vegas with my Perisan uncles, and, boy, it was nothing like this.
Let's start with the ride to the airport. First of all, Reza rented a party bus for all his friends. I got so confused by the sight of it because I couldn't fathom someone taking that just to the airport that I literally said out loud in my office "Wait -- I thought they were flying." They were. The party bus had everything -- drinks, a stripper pole, and a drunk MJ! I couldn't stop shaking my head -- she was tipsy the moment she and Reza stepped on the bus. There were a few "Oh no, MJ"s mumbled in my office.
But off to Vegas the crew goes -- in a private plane, natch. Everyone's digging the ride except Golnesa who is apparently afraid of flying. Seems others think she's just being hyperbolic for attention. I would hope that wouldn't be the best way she can think of to get attention! Pass the peanuts, please!
The gang finally arrives at the Aria Resort & Casino, or rather at the absurdly amazing suite Reza has booked for the trip. The only word I can use to describe the space is "sprawling." After calling dibs on rooms, the gang heads to dinner. GG and MJ are late because GG apparently takes a long time to get ready (there's always at least one in a group), and MJ says that she's the type of girl who waits for her friends. I don't. I literally cannot stand when people take a long time to get ready, so props to MJ for being that patient! When they finally arrive it's clear that MJ is still drunk and just keeps getting more drunk. At one point she turns to GG to comment on Reza's friend, Anita's dress. Anita hears her but doesn't cause a scene. This is called maturity.
Bravo/Andy Cohen/seacrest--love the show however, if I may, I would like to leave some suggestions. Anita should be one of the regular stars of the show. Lose the loser, Sammy, he comes across as neither a real friend to anyone and seems clueless at best. Love GG, ASA, and the rest especially Reza (this coming from a straight guy). Continued success on this show and am eargerly looking forward to next season. Much love.
I like GG. Why the negative posts? She makes it interesting. The only thing is-Mike said he dated her sister, yet (supposedly) the reason there is so much tension between them is because they like each other, but are the "forbidden fruit" and can't get together? Seems like a potential romance designed by producers. Nonetheless, I love the show, and all of the people on it-so far.
I'm embarrassed for these people. What a way to represent the Persian community. My patience watching this show wore thin 15 minutes into the post Vegas episode. To be fair I gave it the remaining time to finish. However, this show is horrible and I will find something else to watch.
MJ and Rez make it fun...the rest I could take or leave. Its fun but the jury is still out as a half persian doctor female I am not sure if I fully like the depictions being made.
My favorites are definitely Asa and Reza and I have much respect for them. I believe they've been through things in life that connected them deeply and they can use their experiences to help others that may be going through the same thing. I know that GG have painted a bad image of herself and the viewers are definitely reacting to her attitude. This girl needs guidance and someone to train and teach her that money isn't everything to life. There is family, love and having just "plain old fun". Life is too short to be critical, competitive and bitter. She needs to direct her aggressive attitude into doing something productive for the community. At this point, I don't have anything to say about the rest of the cast but want to wish them luck in their endeavor in life.
Bravo, if you want this show to last, you can dump GG and replace her with Anita. GG can be a background friend who visits the rest of the cast. You should get rid of Sammy because he is like a cheesy used car salesman in a polyester suit. Bring on some of Reza's gay friends, Mike's brother, or Muhammed from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Otherwise, this will be the only season for the Shahs of Sunset.
I love this show. So over the top and crazy. Even my husband looks forward to watching these crazy group enjoy life to its fullest. It is a treat to watch.
Having lived for years among exactlly the same Persian crowd in Beverly Hills, I can say that this show DEPICTS REALITY among Persian community. All Blink Blink and show of and enormous egotism and self centeredness. 100% truth and sadly enough REALITY. Lots of people in their community may not like it but it is an absolute TRUTH!!!!!!
wow, people need to relax.. This one show does not represent the entire population of persians but some of the situations that they are going through are relatable to some Middle eastern families. I am glad that for once we are able to see into another culture other than the American culture through the eyes of these 6 ppl. This show is just like housewives or jersey shore but with Persians.
I am obssessed with the white dress Anita wore in Vegas (the one GG said she bought 5 years ago). Does anyone know the desinger or where to buy it!?!!? Heading to Vegas in 100 days & need to rock this dress!!!
Married to a Persian man for 30 years. He has never acted like these folks thank god! Happy No Rooze! Happy Persian New Year!
MJ,MJ MJ...let me just say that "beyond drunk" is not a good look on you or anyone for that matter. I"m going to need you to do better...
Reza: Hope you had a wonderful birthday! Many more blessing to you. Asa, you are wonderful. MJ go to AA. Sammy grow up! You seem like a very likable intelligent man but you are no longer a boy or a teenager! Mike: you are not as hot as you think you are. GG: Money can't buy you class or anything of the things you lack in order to be a lady for that matter. You need to go. Bravo should fire you and your Parents should wash that mouth out with soap.
Why do I get the feeling that Shahs of Sunset is Most Eligible Dallas with the mideastern twist. The rich gay friend everyone likes. The unrequited love between 2 good friends...the aspiring singer...the group get-togethers...the money..oh yes of course the money (oops that's another copy-cat show).
Somebody needs to come up with some new concepts!!
Does Jersey Shore represent the majority of Italians living in New Jersey? No. Do the Real Housewives shows represent the majority of people living those areas? No. Don't understand why this particular show is getting under people's skin. My family is Greek and hated My Big Fat Greek Wedding exclaiming, that's not us or anyone we know! These are merely glimpses into SOME people's lives for entertainment!
I love the show!! So much fun to watch! I will keep watching Bravo so please keep this show on for many more seasons. All those saying negative things about it don't seem to understand that you can't take everything so seriously and be offended by everything, this is for entertainment! I especially love love love Reza and Asa. GG is spoiled, but I like watching her feisty fights and princess behavior anyway.
Can you replace GG with another person? She is so condescending! She is not all that attractive. I think Anita is much more beautiful. Maybe if GG actually grew up and took care of herself, both financially and emotionally, she might be a better person.
Bravo Asa for being an individual and not falling into the whole Beverly Hills thing. I hope your family is proud of you.
Gotta love Reza. He makes the show!
I really enjoyed watching the two episodes that we have seen. Bravo is full of shows of shallow materialistic people but no one slams them for not 'representing' this or that culture well. Those people get to be who they are, just as Reza and his friends should be allowed to be. I love Reza and Asa and Anita and David.
I can't believe people are comparing this to Jersey Shore, that is insane. All of these folks except for GG are professional and accomplished. (Probably not everyone even understands that J-Wow on Jersey Shore is a computer programmer but she doesn't exactly emphasize it.) I love seeing different cultures, getting different perspectives. To the poster who was talking about 'a country we have a volatile relationship with', please remember these people are American citizens, this was filmed in Los Angeles not Tehran. We are ALL immigrant descendants in this country, unless we have indigenous blood.
Everyone on this show need to grow up and act there age . I mean come on couldnt BRAVO find younger good looking Persian to be on this show ? Its so sad to watch all of there's 38 years old's act like get just turned 21 ....
I read that the Persian community has started a petition to have this show taken off the air, they really shouldn't bother, this show will self-destruct. I'm not going to tune in again.
i have tried the show out for 2 shows.. honestly you have some good people on there but then you have that GG wanna be tough rich girl who in all honestly couldn't win a fight with a wet noodle. she made a statement on the air on how she hates ants and ugly people well i think she should look at herself because she has a very ugly personality and the world doesn't revolve around her.. that weekend in Vegas was about Reza's birthday not about her yet she feels that since no one was paying attention to her she had to leave... and who does she think she is to be judging everyone she is not perfect... im sorry BRAVO but this is not a winning show... maybe if you took out the negative judgemental people and comments maybe it would work but as it is nope..
I personaly love the show. If people want to be educated into the cultural aspect of the Persian community, then they need to be watching the Discovery Channel lol. I feel this just presents a new perspective, an outlook from a particular gruop. I dont think they are tring to generalize. I love the show. ASA my girl keep doing you, Reza, I wish I was a man ha ha ha your awesome and fine um um um. MJ get it together I am rooting for you. Mike I think your a great dude, and keep iritating GG lol she is outta control. I don't want to be disrespectful cause I know Reza don'tplay that, but she needs to be praying for an attitude adjusatment. No amount of surgery can fix an ugly heart. Muah PEACE!
Young adults? These folks are in practically middle-aged. Heck! Reza was celebrating his 38th birthday in Vegas. I also understand why MJ got sick at the club . . . besides all of the liquor she consumed I too would vomit if these were my friends. What a vulgar show! I'm done!
You are all so fake inside and out. What sad lives you lead. Sasa is the only one who seems halfway normal. I pity you all (apart from sasa)
When I watch the show for the first time, I was disappointed and annoyed . But the second time, it was actually really funny. Reza one man show. Asa is very beautiful. GG - trying to be someone. The big girl is a mess:)) The rest is not noticeable....
I love Asa. Anita is beautiful, don't be a hater GG. She doesn't need to wear this season's clothes to look stunning. Asa, love you. I love your personality and the fact that you don't need labels to make you. Reza is adorable and looks like a blast. I am loving the show, but GG is a little much. She is an entitled, brat who hasn't worked a day in her life and please, she is not wear near tough. Just has a big mouth.
My family is Persian and we sat down to watch this together-a mistake of epic proportions! This show give no insight whatsoever into the true Persian culture. My family is united by faith, food, and family and none of those things are shown in this horrid excuse for a show. This show gives a glimpse into the lives of attention seeking, spoiled, immature youths who cannot control their spending or their drinking-and they just happen to be Persian. It was hugely embarrassing to watch this with my family.
Scratch another BRAVO show off the list. Waste of time. Classless and clueless. If this is what it is like to be Persian, then who needs it.
Please explain to me what is entertaining about watching a group of privelidged Spoiled young people endlessly party and condescend. Most of these people act like they are allergic to work of any kind. They all seem to worship money and material possessions more than each other's right to coexist peacefully. This is a bad show. I do feel bad for REZA because he seems just grateful to be accepted.
I was hoping to see a group of chic and sophisticated young adults to represent the Persian culture. If this is any indication of what the culture is about, what a terrible shame. I guess Persians can be ghetto too.
what about the throwing up in the night club and them putting a cushion over the spot, shameful but then again you have a bunch of rich brats partying. Is this another jersey shore? thats all I see.
Raz sounds just like the cartoon character Snaggle tooth. The one that always ended with "exit, stage right".
I've been trying to figure out who makes that dress since this season of RHofA started (Nene wears it in her individual interviews). Does anyone know who makes the "tired" dress tht Anita was wearing to dinner on the first night in Vegas? I don't care how old it is, it's gorgeous!
I've lived in L.A in my 20s..I had friends just like these people & this is 100% persian crowd in general.I love this show.
What's with the 1- inferiority complex and 2- Delusion of Grandeur you all seem to have?...all the fights in your parties/rendezvous and reunions with the other cast members is about Clothes, Labels, Ugliness and I'm better than you attitude...all that behavior is tacky my friend...You seem to be very nice honest and kind but at the same time there's a saying "OUR FRIENDS ARE A REFLECTION OF WHAT WE ARE"...so I believe all that immature behavior has to change...you all look bad and tacky.
hugs from Miami Beach.
You and the others on the show are what give America a bad. Also, I'd like to see Reeza in the cage and the tiger in the pool.
Reza please stop calling women hookers, sluts, and whores. It is not cute and Mike is not all that.
GG said it best. He is a meathead!
GG is a poser. Last night at the pool party when she was fighting with the other girl in the cabana about spending thousands of dollars on ONLY expensive name brands she lied.
That black sheer top she was wearing was from Forever 21. It was from TWO years ago! The irony is that she is also wearing it on the opening credits! Way to make a first impression wearing Forever 21.
Either she shops like normal girls and picks things up at the mall or her stylist is shopping at Forever 21 and cutting off the labels and replacing them with designer labels.
I have seen girls at clubs that actually spray painted the bottom of their shoes red to make the look like Louboutins, so anything is possible!
