Bravotv.com: What did you think of GG’s comments on vintage shopping?
Asa: The owner of Decades, Cameron Silver, was named one of TIME magazine's "25 Most Influential Names and Faces in Fashion" and he even has a "Cameron" bag that Hermes created just for him. And here's a little background on Decades for sheer appreciation of what this man has put together: it's legendary and a visual history lesson in couture fashion. Going shopping there is like a treasure hunt, you never know what you may find. . .a '70s YSL gown, original '80s Chanel gold earrings, an early '90s Valentino blazer etc. But what you do know for sure is that you will find a beautiful piece of fashion that you cannot find anywhere else!
Decades is coveted by every true fashionista, the brightest Hollywood stars, and style/fashion lovers who come from all over the world (NYC, Paris, Tokyo etc.) looking for something special (and by the way, most the vintage items in there are previously owned but UNWORN).
Almost all of today's fashion is copied from vintage pieces. Every great designer is inspired by vintage designs for their collections. It's one thing to not like vintage clothing, but to be into style or fashion and not pay homage to the greats before you would be ignorant. I've been collecting couture vintage since I was 10 years old and my collection is pretty epic. My close friends are stylists for style icons like Lady Gaga and Rihanna and they lose their mind every time they see my closet.
I seriously don't care what GG says about my style or the boutique I took her to. She and I are very different from each other. I don't need a stylist to tell me what to wear to my friends pool party and I definitely don't need to know what everybody else is wearing to a girls' night out to then decide what I should wear. That's NOT how I roll. I've always had my own style and don't need anybody else (or any magazine) to tell me what to wear or what not to wear. I DO ME.
For me, the most fun part of the day/night is playing some Prince and putting my outfit together. It's like a piece of art. "I think of fashion, of dressing, as art. I'm not about disposable shopping. Even my day wear is glamorous," is something Cameron Silver, the owner of Decades, says and I must agree with him.
Yes Asa, you are my favorite on the show, too. Next would be Reza. The only person I cannot stand is GG. She's trouble! But I wish you the best of luck and I hope you go far with your career. You are truly talented.
Asa, I am loving what i have heard of your music. I think you have a ton of class. I really like all the cast members but I think GG needs to mature and find an identity for herself that is not about being 'ghetto'.
Thanks for the name of Sunny's company, I was wondering when you said that. I really think Sunny spoke for a lot of women when she said those things, many of us would just like to state the fact that someone is a 'mean girl' without countering and becoming vicious. Sunny really kept her composure, and you also were very dignified when you came back and told her the truth. I hope we get to see much more of the 'intergalactic Persian princess', you have amazing stage presence and actually with your fair-mindedness you really ought to do an advice column as well. I beleive the sky is the limit for you and will continue watching this and any other projects you are involved with.
Asa, love you your my fav. Shah, well you and Reza. Love how you speak honestly every time, nothing fake, no lies. You have the wisdom of someone much older, love when your on. Sorry to say I hate when GG is on, just yucky, ewww. Love the show.
asa, well said. gg is a mean person. i hope she evolves, but the only way that will happen is if her dad cuts her off and she sees the "real" world. I love your style and your grace.
OMG where do I begin ....ha ha ASA you are great just let it be ......and for Cruella (GG) forget about her she wants anybodys attention even she only can get bad attention, she is a very sick and uncharming person and need prof. help.....but I doubt if it helps her as long as she dont want to change herself........just stay as you are Asa and you are fine ...
Hey Asa, I absolutely love your music and plan to buy your album! When your producer friend was saying people wouldn't by an album not in English and not "mainstream" (we all know what THAT's code for...) I was angry for you. I have bought albums not in English, and think Farsi is a beautiful language (I'm african american and English is my first language, French is my second). People buy music they don't culturally "relate" to all the time, if we keep watering down music to appeal to the majority (whoever that is) it will keep minds closed. Anyway, I hope to see more of you, you seem to be the least materialistic and most identifiable on the show, and who has the money but isn't busy trying to be a carbon copy of everyone else. Kudos.
I think Sunny was out of line. She was interjecting herself into a conversation that had nothing to do with her. Then she was all upset about GG being a 'mean girl". What a wacko. I would have reacted the same way that GG did and I don't have anger issues. Sunny was all in her face for no apparent reason. GG might have brought up the Las Vegas stuff at a better time than during a dinner party, but really, its none of Sunny's concern. There were previous episodes where GG seemed to be overly angry, but now it seems like unless she is completely passive, she is being 'mean'. I'm starting to respect her for standing her ground. Good for her! Her sister is completely unsupportive.
Walk away from GG. GG is selfish and manipulative. If you let her pick you up for a party, you give her the power. If you put up with her temper tantrums, you give her the power. Cut her outof your life like a cancer. Eat, pray, love.
Asa is the perfect combo of fierce and wise. I just love love love your personality and can't get enough of you!!!!!! Your style, your Art, your music, your character, your beauty, your hair, your gold !!, your laugh. The way you handled that mess GG deserves a price of gold lol. She gets on my last nerves. Geez girl grow up, you are 30 years old. Asa's style is incredible. She is so fashion forward and avant guard that mall rats and new comers to fashion won't get it. What GG said about Asa's style was very stupid clearly came from a point of hate and jealousy. Grow up. And besides, she should not be talking about fashion. Asa is Art. I really see how she gets compared to Lady Gaga and Mia they also have a unique expression. Keep doing you Asa. I really cannot wait to see what you do in season 2. You bring it in the most unique beautiful powerful fierce way. You have a fan for life.
Hi Asa, Something tells me GG wouldn't be so quick to yell and get into someones face with someone from South or East L.A.
Asa, I am not certain what I want to say. To an extent the public is learning about the persian community. the faith, religion, beliefs, attitudes, etc. I find you, and Reza the most interesting and insightful persons on this show. what i appreciate about you, you stay true to form. to who you are, what you like and do not. With that said, it isnt about fashion for you but being an individual. Reza is quite similar however, I feel he does fall into creating static and moments himself. Honestly, GG should be very embarrassed by viewing herself on t.v..yes, she has issues, and she trash talks way too much, and she likes to twist and change up how things occur. Honestly it is sad being so privileged and being so ugly on the inside, taht whatever natural beauty you have is simply ugly. The girl needs to relax, reflect and regroup her emotional and comprehensive cells.... too much! She is a chihuahua all bark and no bite...she will never a Rottie! Rottie's have a better temperment than that!!
Actually, I think Asa is a big part of this conflict. What her friend did at a party she was invited to was not cool. That situation was between GG and MJ. She jumped in it because she wanted to say something to GG, anyway, about her and Asa's beef. GG asking her friend about being late to her parents party had nothing to do with her amateur "personality diagnosis". Really fight your own battles, Asa, without the gossiping and coercion. And...using that as "your proof" that GG is a "mean girl" was beyond weak. You are the mean girl, you're just wearing a mask boo.
Asa, I loooooooooooove your music! Even the bits of songs Ive heard on the show I have stuck in my head. Youre truly talented. I hope your music will be available eventually
Asa is the Bomb cast member, well you and Reza. I totally think Reza needs his own show, you haven't been on as much so, I can't totally say that for you at the moment. BUT I totally dig when you're on. You're solid, well rounded and grounded, I digs that. UGH, I can't stand that airhead, bubble head, bobble head of a GG. I mean, damn, that girl is in LOVE with herself. She loves to hear her own winey voice and I just want to vomit because it sounds like she's on the bowl taking a crap when she talks. URGH. Sorry to sully up this post, but for reals, I can't stand GG. I'm saying though, please Bravo, keep her to a minimum. Mike will hopefully eat from that bowl of artery killing junk and not feed into it further. Dude has goals and dreams and a future-killer like GG is just going to stunt his growth. LMFAO
MJ is chill, but like, dude, what's up with your hair. It's like, you're hair looks like it's thinning, but you added extensions and it sort of reminds me of Donald Trump. It's like, I'm all cockeyed and neck crimped trying to figure out wtf is up with your hair. Like dude, get some treatment for that, my friend uses something she buys from Turkey, work it out. I can get the name of the pill for you, it works, her hair grows in thick. and P.s. her moms nagging is what stresses her out to the point that she experiences hair loss. Ya dig? Otherwise, you'd be a pretty chick, I could hook you up, but you need to dead the stress and get healthy girl.
KK. Next. Mike, um, yeah so, dude you need to take it easy. You're trying to compete with the old you, but here you are, you have the opportunity to start a hole new, other you. Get it? Got it? good.
So, here's my advice, work slow and steady and stop worrying about attaining the stature the old you had. Oh and, yeah, enroll GG in some classes, if she can get in that is, that's if you plan on courting her. LOL girl needs a brain, motivation and some goals for her dim witted future.
Next. Sammy. Sammy is chill, what we've seen so far. He seems to be the most successful so, kudos to you. BUT you do need to do something about that extra weight dude. Work that out. I know hard work and long hours equal poor eating habits, but work it out.
Anita- you and GG should be besties. She was jelous of you, but you went overboard so now you're overboard for me.
Next- Reza- this is probably the most likeable character of all. This kid needs his own show. talk show, radio show, whatev. Get this dude his own show on TLC where he handles his real estate and replace those other boring "sell that house' crap shows. Reza and MJ would make a cool RE Reality show duo, with Reza carrying the show until MJ can learn to be a little more open about her life. I feel like there is an interesting person underneath there with layers of juicy storyline. Lets get it!!
Ciao
follow me on twitter @girltalk_N_Y_C
Ummmm to girltalk nyc you REALLY like seeing yourself talk huh? oh and it's whole not hole (that's the only misspelled word I'm going to call your attention to). Now that you've pointed out everyone's flaws perhaps YOU should look in the mirror and fix yours.
Anywho, on to the show. GG, I want those double hoop blinged out earrings you rock. As usual you looked diva.com, now we need to get your inside to match your fab outside. You gotta work on your temper and bragging about being 30 and on daddy's bank is sooooo not cute. You're way too smart and pretty to be a mean girl. So just stop it! True, Asa's friend should not have gotten into the whole Vegas fiasco AND you should not have brought up MJ's lateness to the anniversary party at the table. That was neither the time nor place. Both you and MJ need to admit what you said about Anita's dress (hellloooo it's on record). Sammy, why lie about how much you paid for MJ's bday gift (helllloooo it's on record)??
Reza you and your BEAUTIFUL mom are the best! Keep doing you.
Asa; Your music is an expression of your open minded and accepting point of view. I look forward to hearing more and I hope you enjoy your success. I don't like that AK in your picture. Guns are violent and violence is ugly.Violence is not art. Violence is distracting from the beauty in nature and harmony in one's self and the world. Sunny simply had enough with GG"S selfishness. No one discusses a misunderstanding between two people at a group event. GG instantly put MJ on the defensive and so begins a tense situation. As usual, GG ruined an everyone's evening.
Wow... name drop much? Spiritual is as spiritual does, and a truly spiritual people wouldn't be so focused on brand names and material success...
Reza, you had so much courage to put yourself out there with your father. You said what you needed to say, so honestly. It was so very gratifying to see the results of your vulnerability and openness with your father. I've never seen suchbravery in front of the public. And with a grandmother who was giving you the cold shoulder yet. You've won my heart!
I appreciate the way you handled the dinner situation with GG and Sunny, HOWEVER, i do feel Sunny was a bit out of line. GG was speaking to MJ directly although at a table with other guests. Sunny should have kept her composure and stayed out of the conversation unless invited to speak. Frankly, GG attempted to be polite by stopping her convo with MJ when Sunny cut it. GG told MJ she was speaking to her and didn't (at first) say anything to Sunny. Sunny allowed her past experiences with "mean girls" to get the best of her and show aggression to GG. Of course, we only know what the cameras showed us. The bottom line is the conversation didn't involve Sunny and she should have stayed out of it unless her opinion was asked for. GG needs continued therapy but, in this instance, I support GG.
I think you are very grounded in reality and are a great friend to not let your friend leave alone. I think there were many things that should not have been done at that "girls night out". Personal conversations should never be brought up in a public forum. Comments about conversations that do not include you need to be squashed. Shut your mouth and sit there being uncomfortable. On less positive note, I can't stand that Princessa GG!! Girl you need to get up off your over shopped behind and get a job. Reza, I adore you, goodlooking, has a job and ethnic! Yummy! Please just let us know if you decide to bat for the other team. I know I am not alone in that thought.
Asa, good luck with your music...I love it! I would love a cd of yours. The radio in California is the worst, sorry, IMO. Ciao, from a white American. Peace!
Asa: Your Persian/Middle Eastern jewelry is always stunning. It pays such great respect to your culture and traditions. Would you ever consider creating a costume line for those of us that can't afford pure gold?
LMAO @Kica
Cute of you to call me out, now how about this; GG is an airhead and she's in the public eye so, she leaves herself completely open to not only my opinions but those of everyone else’s. So, pahleeze save it. When has this girl named ONE goal on the show? When has GG once exhibited any desire to be anyone or anything other than an angry little girl? So, if you're offended or disturbed my OPINION of her, that's on you. I will continue to give my 2 cents because, hey, until she grows a brain, we're not going to see any sort of positivity coming from this girl.
Take Asa for instance; here is a WOMAN, not a girl. She's knows exactly what she wants and knows exactly how she's going to achieve her goals. Miss Lady has a plan and she's living to her complete fullest. Asa's doing her music, dresses herself without a "stylist". LMFAO GG has a "stylist". COME ON. GET REAL!! Home girl has NO freaking life, she lives off her pops AND she has a "stylist". LMFAO Even her sister had the "oh boy, GG is full of herself as usual" look on her face as she had to digest that whiney little girls conversation. If you want to defend a character. Defend Reza. That's a worthy character that needs defending from the crap that there saying about him out here on the net. Reza is king; he's a genuine person if you can understand that. So, in closing Kica, if you can relate to GG's "struggles" LMFAO good for you. Feel free to point out any clerical errors and typos if that makes you feel better. Oh and maybe you could go ahead and jump on everyone else that jumps on GG.
If GG wants’ to act tough and angry, send her tough little self to Brooklyn. We'll introduce her to "the hard knocks" maybe that will give her some humility.
Now, let me go count my flaws....
Asa, I am learning TM and would love to have a CD of yours. I have listen to several artist, and yours (from what I heard on the shows) just hits home every time. Will you be getting a CD out soon. I hope so because I don't want to start training for TM until one of yours come out. I love you peace it really shows. Blessings!
I love Asa, but I agree with the "name drop much" comment. I believe your style is authentic; your music reflects your love for art, but I'm conflicted about how genuinely not superficial/into the finer things you are. This wouldn't be an issue if you didn't make it one through your actions and comments. It seems you try hard to distinguish yourself from the likes of GG by describing your love for fashion as art, but quite honestly, you seem to equally as much appreciate these things you sometimes judge other castmates for, and that's fine. It just seems hypocritical that your love for vintage high fashion as opposed to what's in season seemingly to you makes you better than some of your castmates. I'm an African-American. I love nice things. I appreciate them. I consider myself more afrocentric for many reasons I have no patience to name. I'd rather listen to artists like Erykah Badu, India Arie, Jill Scott, Goapele, and the like than here someone rap about Louboutins. However, I'd be disingenuous if I pretended I didn't become an attorney because I wanted nice things. That would be a lie. I appreciate the finer things. If Jesus were my son, He'd have been swaddle in Missoni. I adore the print for whatever reason an own way too many scarves considering winters barely brisk where I am. I lose my mind in Barney's. I enjoy summer's in the Vineyard, and yes, I still think that when it comes to a sense of self, community, etc., I am better than my counterparts who pride themselves on these things, who are self-destructive in ways that it would take more than this post to address. This is okay. I think some viewers are conflicted about you because your attitude seems a bit self-righteous one minute and then the next your'e bathing in diamond water and name dropping a la this blog. I think you should try less to defend your love for fashion, finer things in general. It's okay! Particularly when you've worked hard for them! Then there'd be no room for backlash. Anyways, you're gorgeous! Great pic, but the AK is a bit aggressive,
Asa, you are keepin it real, love your music and your style! G.G. girl grow up!, next time you feel the need to have a face to face with someone, do it in the privacy of your own home...because when you call someone out infront of everyone...YOU just made it everyones business, and when you come over all abrasive don't get all defensive...people are just responding to you in the same way you you speak. Just sayin!
I don't mind anyone on this show except GG. Even though everyone is over the top, GG is psycho and beyond annoying. Her behavior should not be rewarded with the attention she craves.
You are walking in your truth. Does GG know what Ghetto is, bc what you were wearing is not. PPL make be little insulted by that(and I DO NOT MEAN IN A RACIST WAY)
Reza is amazing, love the show except for g.g. Can you show more history with pictures of the Persians from Iran. Thank you
Asa please tell me how you could have been a political refugee at the age of 8? Also, as a Persian, I need to be honest with you. Your music is gibberish even in Farsi. I liked you during the first few episodes despite your outfits and your strange makeup because I thought you were at least a good person. Last week's episode showed your true colors. Your friend Sunny came to dinner ready to attack GG which only means one thing...you had filled her in on your dislike of GG prior to the dinner. You're as fake as anyone can get.

Dear Asa Joon, Congrads on coming out..with your music and art accomplishments. I totally admire you and your talents. I'm a professional resident nightclub dj, musician, and when I'm at hm i want to hear different music like YOUR music. Your Music Rocks...4 me, and of course Persian music Rocks. Almost all songs including club hits, current radio play sound the same to me. Pop artists and their music arrangers using the same synth sounds and loops. It's dead and tired already. So I can't wait till your album comes out! Your music should have come out along time ago sister joon : ) You're Beautiful!
Your music is amazing!! I listen to your music everyday on youtube. I really hope you stay true to yourself in all areas, especially your music. I was very disappointed by the feedback you received by that music producer or whomever it was. I hope that didn't discourage you. We NEED to hear music like yours & celebrate artists like you who are true to themselves.
I will admit that I wasn't going to watch the show. Trailors about the show made it seem like the whole bunch of you were pretentious, and placed yourselves above everyone else. That being said....I did watch the show, and from the very first show I was hooked. I love Asa. I think you do you very well. I like that your style is different and original. I think Reza is so brave and inspirational to come out and say, This is ME, like it or not. I liked Mike, I don't think the show profiled him as well as they did some of the other cast members. He seems like a pretty genuine guy. I love MJ. I think she seems very sweet. It seemed like the show profiled her as a drunk, superficial person. It did seem that her whole day revolved around cocktails. My two least favorite cast members. Sammy needs to take a real look at himself. It is not cute (no matter how much money you have)to act & dress like you an adolescent boy when in fact you are a grown man. Dress like a grown man, please. G.G. was just flat out unpleasant. She said she doesn't like ugly people, but did she not notice that every episode showed her being the ugliest person? Ugly isn't just skin deep. She kept holding on to her favorite excuse of being teased when she was a child etc. etc. yada yada yada. Get over it. Your not a child anymore, there is NO valid reason to treat people as badly as she did. She was most definitely the agressor.

Asa I am Puerto Rican and I would buy your music in a heartbeat I love who you are and I respect that, I pray that one day I will have the strength to be as strong as you. Bless you!
