Dr. Boogie began his career in high school, spending endless hours in a local Oakland, California hair salon refining his skills and ultimately attending beauty school. While working in the first salon he owned in Richmond, California, he was discovered by Morris Day and moved to Los Angeles to follow his dream of entering the entertainment industry. Determined to get to the top, Dr. Boogie started as a personal hair stylist and established a name for himself, collaborating with celebrity clientele such as Kimora Lee Simmons and actress LisaRaye McCoy-Misick. Dr. Boogie is president and creative director of Boogie Secrets, offering do-it-yourself, Hollywood-styled hairpieces to the masses. Currently a salon hairstylist by trade, Dr. Boogie is a member of the Local 706 make-up artists and hairstylist guild and owns The Hair Studio, a high-end salon located in Studio City, California. Dr. Boogie decided to compete on Shear Genius to show the world what he can do. He's inspired by Martha Stewart, Russell Simmons, Paul Mitchell Corporation, Sebastian Corporation; people who made it to the top on their own, not people that are handed opportunities on a silver platter.
