We are down to the wire and sadly we had to say goodbye to Jon who turned out to be a gracious loser. It is always refreshing to see someone who is grateful, appreciative, and proud of their experience. Sometimes I really wish we didn't have to edit the show so much because Jon's goodbye was emotional. He really charmed us throughout the whole competition, what a sweetheart!
I like this episode in particular, because I was the only model for the Shortcut Challenge and I single-handedly got to judge the remaining finalists.
I could tell that each of them were nervous to do my hair and didn't
really know at first how hard it is and how long it takes to blow out/style my hair.
Initially, I was weary when Brig was doing my hair, especially when I noticed that the baby hairs were having a hard time staying in place -- that is one of my pet peeves!
Janine styled my hair, but it was not the right way to style it, it needed to be down and loose.
Next, it was Jon's turn. Unfortunately, he accidently burned me. I tried to be as calm as possible, so he would have a chance to finish the challenge, but damn it hurt so badly!!! He did do a nice job on the shape, however he didn't execute it right.
When I called Matthew out for not doing clean sectioning, he acted is if I shouldn't say that! Well that bad sectioning resulted in the bump that was left in the back of my head, but other than those two things, it would have been perfect! I loved how the edges were smooth, straight, and clean.
I was frustrated on how none of the stylists were able to give me a really amazing hairstyle, something they didn't really show on the actual episode. You weren't able to see how truly upset I was.
The second challenge was having the four remaining finalists define and create their own signature style and brand for their portfolio. The guest judge was the amazing and legendary stylist, Oribe and boy, do I value his opinion! I thought that Janine's first model looked like a Chia Pet when it was supposed to be an afro. The way Janine styled herself was not
indicative of her brand; I was a little disappointed in that because it was the first time that I didn't buy it!!
When Brig's first model came out, I was taken aback by the ice cream cone hair style. I do have to say that both of these styles demonstrated Brig's distinct point of view and showed who she is as an artist. It really was the first time I was able to see Brig! I am glad that she won this challenge and am so excited for the finale next week!
Three finalists left and who will be the last one standing???? You will just have to wait and see, tune in next week for the season finale:)
Beijos,
Camila
As a woman with equally thick and curly hair, I, too, was disappointed. It is VERY difficult to find a stylist who can handle my hair. And I was so excited to see you be the model. Unfortunately, I was not as excited with the results.
The real problem is that there are A LOT of women like US out there ... and too few stylists skilled in handling our hair.
BTW, the ONLY thing we have in common is our hair! I wish there were more we had in common. Ha.
This is intended to be a constructive criticism: I truly think Ms Calves need to stop imitating Heidi Klum as a host of any show. It is like she ha studied every gesture Heidi does on her runaway show. It is really too much deja vu!
Camila is a beautiful enough woman on her own, she doesn't need to imitate others. She needs to find her own way. Please try to do a rehearsal before you she goes on camera, so you don't look like a copy of somewhere else. I do like you, but you should shine for your own style. Best luck to you!
OMG, please tell me you guys didn't vote to make Brig the winner... I absolutely hate her.
I'm scared, but after hearing your comments on Janine, it's gotta be Brig, huh? (ugh)
:(
I would argue that Brig's work may be editorial worthy, but does this mean the next "Top Chef "should not use food as their final creation? Mark Speers Colorist / Stylist Tucson AZ.
Since Brig won the new motto should be "Hair is unimportant. It is just a joke."
I can't imagine willining sitting in her salon.
I am very disappointed that Brig won. I don't think she STYLED the models' hair, she only added things. Matthew and Janine actually worked with and styled the hair. I'm totally disappointed in the judges' decision!!
I believe what just happened tonight on the finale show was absolutely ridiculous. How in the world could Brig have won this when she actually didn't do any hair. Truly Janine and Michael both were more talented which showed throughout the entire competition. This is another reality TV show which I believe should be taken off the air, due to the fact I believe they do things merely for ratings and shock value and not for Shear Talent.
I was a weekly viewer. WAS! Are you kidding me, not picking Jannine who won throughout the competition. Really I enjoyed watching every week, but not again. Hair is important???? Brigg's hair throughout the show was bad! How can you justify picking her. I won't watch anymore.
Wow. The finale show was the best Shear Geniuis I've seen. I love that Brig won. I think she has a new vision for hair. I was really rooting for her. I think Jeannine and Matthew were so mean! You seem so sweet. I hope to see you on future shows and I hope Brig gets her own show on Bravo.
I just saw the last program and I am very happy that Brig was the winner. Jeanine and Matthew ('s) attitudes were not nice. I understand it is a competition and that the producers would have encouraged drama but come on guys... we are all human after all and both of you looked like idiots. Matthew, you are a great guy and a great stylist but if you want to keep your hubby, loose the attitude. Jeanine, loose the little hats, they do not make any difference other than making you look small and insignificant. Just a thought.
This is the worst season to date!!!! How you cannot take the entire season into consideration when picking the final winner is shocking. Brig was the worst styliest of all. Next year call it Shear Genius of Hair Pieces. I won't be watching....now I can get to bed a little earlier next season on wednesdays. WHAT A JOKE!!! I think you need a new host that knows a little more about hair.
I hate the decision you made to have Brig win!!! There were several stylists that deserved it MORE!!! I highly doubt I will watch your show again. It is STUPID!!!
I am so disappointed in Brig Winning! What the heck did they see in her hair? It was UGLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The other two was perfect with dark design of the clothe's. For the judges to pick her what does it say about them?
Hi Camila,
This was a fantastic season!! I really believe Brig deserved to be the Shear Genius winner. Her work in the last challenge was an amazingly artistic, cohesive presentation...and she really created something "out of the box."
I thought you did a fabulous job as hostess, and I just love all the judges!
Wishing Brig a huge congratulations...and I'm looking forward to another great season next year!
The judges have let us down. I thought the hair stylists were suppose to work on hair not just add decorations to hair. Matthew and Janine's work throughout the season was so SHEAR GENIUS compared to Brig. I think some account should be taken for previous styles and not base the winnings on ONE win. As for me, this was my last episode of Shear Genius.
None of the final hairstyles really impressed me, but I truly felt Brig's concept fell flat. At least Matthew and Janine provided texture. I thought the zipper concept and the attached chains were very clever, however the clear tape was not. As beautiful as Camila is, she should not be a spokesmodel on 'American' television. I do like Ms. Alves as a model but maybe a Brazilian/Portugese version of Top Model would be better suited for her.
I was upset that Brigg won, it should it been Matthew or at least Janine, most of their work was shear genius but Briggs don't think so, all these time waiting for Matthew to win, what a waste, really... Brigg is an artist allright then send her to do painting or teather but no to do hair...
I have been a big fan of Sheer Genius and this season I was not impressed. Sheer Genius should be using real heads of hair and creating a Genius look with hair. Not a plastic head of hair or fake hair. If you go to a salon you expect the sheering to be with your hair. We are not runway models looking stupid as we live our everyday lives. Sheer Genius needs to get back to the basics you expect to have when going to a salon to see a hair dresser. You want to walk out and everyone wanting your hair style. I am afraid you have lost alot of your fans after what you did this season!

I have been a big fan of Sheer Genius and I was very dissappointed this season. If I go to a hair salon I expect to have my hair worked on and not have a fake head of hair with plasic pieces added to my hair. When you leave the salon and walk down the street you want everyone to want your hair style. The show needs to get back to the basics of hair style. Your fans are not impressed with this season! You mested up in my opinion.
What a mistake! Brig is unique, but she is NOT sheer genius. Unique does NOT mean that the look was great or done well, only different. Brig should have been eliminated somewhere around week 3.
I used to be a fan of the show. I will never watch it again. What a joke.
I was so excited to discover my cable carried Bravo TV, thus one of my favorite TV shows. I'm not a hair stylist, however, Shear Genius last season made a fan & believer out of me. I enjoyed and even preferred watching the re-runs over & over. Very entertaining. However, Brig being named the winner, given the title of Shear Genius, has me very disappointed, saddened & confused. Evidently, being 'America's Best HAIR Stylist', was not a requirement to winning Shear Genius this season. In fact, I could have won this. No, the hairstyles created I could not have done, I'm not a hair stylist. Yes, I could & I have created the hair illusions, blotches & coverings such as Brig displayed. Not much talent is needed taking pieces of hair & pasting them where you want them, versus getting a fully CONNECTED head of hair with or without extra extensions styled and pasted as wanted. I thought this was a Best of Best Hair Stylist competition show?
How could you have allowed Brig to win?! That was the MOST disappointing season ever! Janine deserved that win HANDS DOWN! I will NEVER watch this again as long as it has the same terrible judges!! Ugh
I want to thank Shear Genius for showing me that I no longer have to spend big money at a salon! Just think, I could have simply gotten all the silly colored hair left over after Halloween for $.25 and cellophane taped it to my head and been "fashion-forward". This season was really a bust and quite a blow to the hair industry!
Well Shear Genius is all about being a reality show, and no, hair is clearly not important for them. Brig? Seriously? She's wayyyy out of Matthew/Janine's league. I think it was obvious for the past several episodes that Matthew/Janine were a class apart from the rest of the stylists and it would've been too perdictable to have one of them win. So what do you do? You just make the underdog - Brig - win. So unfair for matthew and Janine. They are far more talented and deserved to win much, much more. I think this whole underdog thing is why they even kept Brig in the competition. Sucks!
I agree with a lot of these comments. Brig did not style hair and isn't that what this is about? She was all for the fake hair. And in A LOT of the challenges, the judges did not like brig's style so how she made it to the top 3 still confuses me.
I love this show, but please have a new host next time! Ms. Alves has zero carisma, I couldn't understand half of what she was saying and it seemed like she had to really think of what she was going to say before she said it. She also is totally stuck on herself and reallty quite rude to the stylists. Please bring back Jaclyn Smith or some other woman with class and who can speak eloquently.
Really? Brig? well i guess it makes sense who are you to judge hair your roots are twelve inches long and have needed to be done all season.
If Camila is hosting next season I am not watching. I can't understand her and the participants weren't that great either. Very disappointed in this season.
I THINK THAT JANNIE SHOULD HAD WON. BRIG HAS THE MOST UGLY HAIR STYLES. NOBODY WOULD HAVE WEAR. NOT ME FOR SURE.
brig cant even brush her own hair let alone style anyone elses, the fact that all she did was but plastic around a womens bun and tape in hair is pathetic, i wear hair extentions and am virtually positive i could have made it look better. Jon should have won.
the show is about hair and art not just art. htis show was a waist of time after watching the finale. i will not watch another season
Camila, I absolutely love you. I believe that you're quite possibly the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my entire 57 years of life.
Having said that, Brig is some kind of artist...However, she should never have been allowed get that close to anyones face or head. She was clearly NOT SHEAR GENIUS nor was she even a competent hair stylist!
The competion should have been in the hands of Matthew or Janine. You guys made the worse choice possible!
I still love you though, because you cute!
This season of the show was a failure for one reason. Camila. Not only could I not understand her with that accent but where does she get off judging hair? She's a model and I doubt that gives her any special insight into hairstyles. Jonathan should have been host and judge. He ROCKS!!! He would be the "pretty face" Bravo was looking for and have the background to make him believable.
I like Camilla as a host. You just have to pay a little better attention, but I understand her just fine. I love the "Hair is Important" phrase, it is cute and sassy. I was just wondering when Camilla had her two babies between this show.
Amazing how mean people can be, seriously where are these people from? Thank you so much for the great job you have done on this show.
I could not wait for this season's Shear Genius. Boy was I wrong. It became more about extensions, runways and being weird than hair styling. I viewed all the final hair styles and I am in shock. NO one could wear that hair. Unless this show goes back to styling hair, I will never watch it again.
Camila,
You can never say your famous "Hair IS important" again. Brig proved with her win that "hair is not even necessary"... What a waste of time to watch this claptrap.
English, baby. Love the diversity but when it comes to speaking English, no need to invest an effort to understand what she was saying while watching the show. Makes it boring.

"I was frustrated on how none of the stylists were able to give me a really amazing hairstyle, something they didn't really show on the actual episode. You weren't able to see how truly upset I was."
Let's calm down a bit, shall we? Why would you have reason to "be truly upset?" You were helping out in a challenge, not going to the Oscars. What a drama queen. Bring back Jacklyn Smith.
