Keep The Emotions In Check

Kim Vo on why getting too emotional can hurt you in the competition.

How many steps should it take to do your hair?

Wash and blow dry 80% of your hair. TOOLS: Use one of the following -- curling iron or flat iron or styling brush. PRODUCT: 2 products -- leave-in conditioner or thermal protector, and shine spray. Style and finish with a hairspray.

How many products should one use?

Kim Vo (my line), exclusively at Barneys. 2 products, and then a finishing hairspray.

Were you surprised by Charlie's performance?

I was very surprised with Charlie. I think he is used to working with editorial cuts. He had to do an everyday woman and he fell short.

Were you upset that Meredith didn't thank you?

She really looked distracted from the beginning of the competition. She didn't seem focused. In the real world, there are horrific things that I have had to leave behind. It didn't seem like she could leave the competition in the past. Since we are only going to have one winner and 11 losers, I would make sure that I had a winning speech, but I also would have an awesome losing speech. Sometimes the power of failing makes one prevail.

Do you have any final words for Meredith?

I think being emotional to your craft can be very helpful. Don't let your emotions take over your craft.

Do you have any recommendations for people with curly hair?

Curly hair is the most expensive hair out there. It takes the most products and the most amount of product (more than a dime). Best way is not to wash it every day. Use leave-in conditioner with a water mixture and put it in a spray bottle and apply every day so you don't have to wash it.
