The Proof Is In The Pudding

Kim Vo blogs about the second episode and explains the best way for a client to approach a stylist.

What did you think of the elimination challenge?

They are the toughest clients to work for. They had their signature looks and they were going to be tough to change. Sometimes the littlest choice will make the biggest statements.

Did you agree with the voting?

Yes -- we were debating who took a right or a wrong risk. Parker did take a risk that I was happy about, but it was the wrong choice. It was not age-appropriate. He dyed it jet black and gave her bangs. He should have softened it with a chestnut color with some highlights and kept its deep rich color. No one should be that dark after their teenage years.

Do you have any parting words for Parker?

Parker, many times in my life, I "faked it till I made it." Confidence is key, but also the proof is in the pudding. I like your confidence but I want to see the work that backs it up.

Any thoughts about how you should approach a stylist with what you want, opposed to what looks good?

A trick that I have is that I play devil's advocate by telling them that what they need is textbook and then I tell them what I think they need. As a client you need to connect with your stylist.

Do you have any predictions for the rest of the competition?

I think Charlie has put himself on the map.
