Fall Fashion Alert: Dog Unitards Are Here

It's a look...

If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “I wish my dog looked more like Eileen Davidson in ‘Stranger at the Pentagon’,” boy do we have good news for you.

A new product called “Shed Defender” is billed as “a practical solution to your dog’s shedding.” It claims to reduce dirt, dander, and allergens, alleviate your dog’s anxiety, and help keep him clean. Sure, but let’s call a spade a spade: this is just a unitard for dogs.

Not that we’re complaining. These pups look exceptionally stylish in their full-body leotards. Made from “lightweight, stretchy, athletic mesh” the Shed Defender maintains that it “does NOT make the dog hot,” but that it DOES prepare them for performing as backup dancers for Erika Jayne. (Okay, we made up that last part.)

In all seriousness, the Shed Defender has many real benefits: it can keep your pup warm in cold weather; it can protect against ticks and other insects; and it can even serve as a replacement for the much-maligned medical cone. As an added bonus, a portion of each sale goes to local animal shelters—which we can all get behind (no matter our fashion preferences).
