Patricia Altschul is known for her impeccable, high-brow taste. But the Southern Charm matriarch will brake for a fast-food drive through on occasion — especially when that occasion is her birthday — and there are some treats that she's completely powerless to resist.
Town and Country recently detailed a day in the life of the Charleston society fixture, and dug into the details of her daily diet. Though Patricia's coddled-egg-and-coffee breakfast is quite civilized, as is her lunch of fried chicken served on hand-painted plates, the philanthropist also admitted that she has a fierce sweet tooth. "The ordinarily restrained Grand Dame is non-discerning when it comes to sugar," T&C reports. "Krispy Kreme, See’s Candy, and candy corn are her kryptonite."
Hey, if one has to cave, one may as well give into Krispy Kreme doughnuts. And for what it's worth, we think the glazed treats would look perfectly lovely presented alongside Waterford crystal.
And for the record, on the day that she was profiled, Patricia had saffron bucatini, Beef Wellington, and tres leches cake for dinner... followed by a late-night burrito.
We also happen to know she braves Costco when absolutely necessary, too.
