How did this school that has been around for half a century go so far down hill? It didn't take long for me to figure out that Tiana, Flavio's daughter who has taken over managing the school, was a large part of the problem. Not only was she hiding in her office all day, but she wasn't holding any of the long-time staff accountable and they had all become lazy and complacent. And then there was Mr. P -- it is safe to say I did not have a crush on Mr. P. He was not only lazy and complacent, he was resistant and at times a bit hostile. The entire place needed to be updated -- both the décor and the teachers -- and that was a monumental task. I don't know if I would have been able to pull it off, but Dr. Flavio really is motivational. And in the end I was proud of everyone at Flavio's beauty school, especially Tiana. And I think Dr. Flavio had a weight lifted off of his shoulders, but he still better watch where he puts that cane!
Okay, I didn't like you until this episode. However, you showed such compassion to the Dr. that you now have me on your side. . .Good Job!
Tabatha, I loved this episode! It was so sad to see how Dr. Flavio's legacy was quickly being lost. So glad you went there to inspire everyone.
I truly wonder how they fare after your visit. Would love it if you could post on here how they are doing today.
You & your show interest me since my mother was a beautician. My mother was widowed in 1963 with 4 children - had no job but always "played around" doing her sisters' hair. She went to beauty school, worked at a salon, then opened her own.
If she was alive today she'd be Dr. Flavio's age & would have loved this show, and the great respect you showed that man.
Love your show Tabatha, but this was one of the best! I love hair and all that it entails. Getting a glimpse into how the salons operate and now a beauty school was great. Plus, love when we get to watch you doing hair. Looking forward to the pet shop next week.
Love your show. You are an inspiration to all who run businesses. I love your attitude and your style. I hope you have many more seasons on Bravo!
This was hands down, my favorite Tabatha episode of all time! Mr. Flavio's spunk and dedication touched my heart, and the respect and admiration Tabatha showed him was amazing to watch. Now that's great TV!
I love your show Tabatha! I dated a hair stylist for 3 years so I kinda have it in my blood. You do great work and are a great inspiration.
Tabatha I love Flavio! I was almost in tears watching the show to see how cold his daughter was to him it was so sad. If I had to buy a sofa bed or whatever it would take my dad would be welcomed in my home to live. In fact my dad and I did live together and we did not have a lot of room at all but when you really love someone what does it matter. Her father is such a smart and nice man with a great sense of humor. Instead of learning all those years and helping him with his business she was cold and helped run it down to the ground. I don't believe that she will do the right thing by her father and I hope Bravo is looking out for him in whatever way they can. I love the elderly especially the ones that are like Flavio!
I loved this show!!!! It was the best one yet! Dr. Flavio is a spunky gentleman that needed you!!! I will continue to watch your shows. Thanks for a great show. Like the above comment, I do hope they continue to improve their business and take care of Dr. Flavio!
Tabatha.... Your show is AWESOME....Your professionalism is what makes you the best at what you do. It is nice to see you change people's lives....and promote EDUCATION!!! I wish you were around when I was a hairdresser 20 years ago....Keep up the good work...
Tabatha, You really are a miracle worker. That school (& I use the term loosely) seemed very dated and backward. None of the teachers seemed competent to teach technique. I also adored Dr. Flavio. He was very feisty, passionate for hairdressing and gentlemanly. I appreciated how respectful you were to him. He was very lucky you happened along and brought the staff up to standards. Thanks for doing what you do and doing so well!!!
Tabatha, it is no wonder you have become, to us viewers, as beloved a mentor as Tim Gunn of Project Runway. I know I speak for many, many fans who just can't get enough of your positive attitude, kick-ass honesty, and perfect mix of logic, common sense, and passion. Your show(s) are one of about three programs which are set on my DVR to record "first run AND repeats", ANY channel, ANY day, ANY time.
Tababtha I have followed your TV career from the start and you stood out clearly on Shear Genius so its no surprise you are doing so well with this show. The Flavio episode just solidifies what a professional and wonderful person you are. I enjoyed that episode so much I watch it on every repeat. He is truly a great guy and as you say in your blog I have so much love for people who are passionate and love their jobs. Your interactions with Mr. P were daunting to watch but Flavio and you made up for all that. He (Dr. Flavio) is truly inspirational, as are you. Keep it strong and going on lady, you are wonderful.
I am a devoted fan of yours. I like your assessments and the way you get to the heart of the matter. I love your direct approach... and the way you tell it like it is! You also crack me up when you start cussing at some of those idiots! I wish I'd had you with me a couple of times while getting my hair done! Hope Bravo is smart enough to keep you and your show going a long time. Thank you.
Love your show... You can take any business and turn it around. If I had only known you were going to be in Torrance. I confident that I can walk into Flavio's now and feel comfortable now that you have left your mark. Great job.
Thank you for being you. Yours is the only show that is still worth watching on Bravo TV channel. All the other shows are kind of indistinguishable from Jerry Springers... You have a great head on your shoulders, and I learn a lot from just watching you. Thank you
I LOVE YOU DR. FLAVIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I was your daughter so i could Help you with the salon and everything else... I LOVE YOU DR FLAVIO!!!!! You are so nice and sweeet!!!!
I hope you will please update us on this school. Dr. Flav deserves for his legacy to continue and I hope his daughter has continued to improve.
On a personal note. Tabitha - I'm not in CA but I always wanted to start a business similar to your show. Who cares what industry it is...management styles, professionalism, respect and valuing people translate into any business. If you ever consider broadening what you do, email me!!!
Dr. Flavio has stolen my heart. Tabitha, thank you for being so incredible to him. I lost my mom last year; she was only 74. I had the privilege of helping my amazing father take care of her for a year & a half after a terrible massive stroke. I've always had a gigantic place in my heart for the elderly, I can't even express it, sometimes my heart feels like its going to explode. I wanted to just hug Dr. Flavio & I couldn't understand how his daughter could just stand there, away from him & say she didn't have enough room for her OWN beautiful father in her home. If it happened, God I pray it doesn't because I want him to be able to live in his own home, but if it did, YOU MAKE the room for your father!!!! Breaks my heart:(. This is the first time I've ever watched your show. I love you, Tabitha & I don't even know anything else about you-but I will from now on. And Dr. Flavio, if I ever got to meet you, I would give you a huge hug & if I was your daughter, I would enjoy spending a lot of time with you so you knew it. Some people just don't know what they got until it's gone.
