Andy's Wet Hot American Scoop

Sequel to the cult classic is confirmed on WWHL.

By Colleen Werthmann

It's official - Camp Firewood is open for business. On Wednesday night, Andy Cohen invited Wet Hot American Summer writer/star and Top Chef superfan Michael Showalter to join TC host Padma Lakshmi in the Bravo Clubhouse on Watch What Happens Live. Showalter's 2001 summer camp send-up starred Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks, Amy Poehler, Christopher Meloni, and a slew of Showalter's alt comedy friends, and went on to become a revered cult classic. No surprise then that WWHL viewers were tweeting like crazy, dying for definitive word on a long rumored Wet Hot sequel.

"Absolutely yes. One hundred percent yes," Showalter said, drawing loud cheers from the Clubhouse crowd.

"The whole gang. Everyone's back. We're doing it," he added, confirming rumors that have been circulating since last summer when Banks, Meloni, Rudd, Janeane Garofalo, and David Hyde Pierce all told Entertainment Weekly that they'd love to do a sequel.

Things got messy later, when Padma fed a blindfolded Michael from a squeeze bottle, causing Andy to exclaim, "Oh, my God!  How are we going to clean the rug?" A little steam cleaning is a small price to pay for a major scoop.
