You never know what you're going to see and hear on Watch What Happens Live, and we certainly weren't prepared for Tuesday night's guest Rebecca Romijn to deliver an incredible story about what she witnessed during a recent flight with none other than Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour (clip above). Rebecca opened the story with "She's not gonna watch this, is she?" so we knew this was going to be an amazing tale.
During her flight to New York to appear on WWHL, Rebecca realized she was sitting behind Anna and across the aisle from her partner, Shelby Bryan. "I hear him go, 'Do you want to see something you're not gonna believe in a million years?' And my eyes pop open. I'm like, 'Yes. What's about to happen?'" Rebecca explained. "And he's holding out his cell phone. He goes, 'I just found it. It fell out of the seat.'"
According to Rebecca, the pair had flown out to Los Angeles last Friday and then back to New York on Sunday. He must have left his cell phone on the flight, and when he opened up his seat during the return trip, it was right where he left it.
Shelby Bryan and Anna Wintour.
That is an unbelievable story — or at least that's what Rebecca, her fellow WWHL guest Tony Hale, and Andy Cohen thought. However, Anna was surprisingly — or maybe not-so-surprisingly — unamused by the whole thing. According to Rebecca, her response to the miracle was a nonchalant "same plane, same seat." "He wasn't getting the reaction from her that he was wanting, so he called the flight attendant over to tell the whole story," Rebecca said. "Even the flight attendant was like, 'I have never heard of this before. People lose their phones on these planes all the time.'"
"It kind of says a lot about her, like kind of nothing fazes her," Tony said.
Andy offered up a reason for that. "Well, guess what? She's kind of seen everything at this point, so maybe she's seen that," the WWHL host told Tony.
"It also shows they don't clean out those planes much," Tony joked.
And let's not forget that Anna has been spotted using a flip phone not too long ago, so maybe she's just really not into mobile technology, you guys.
What was also surprising about Anna's behavior on the flight was that Rebecca said she caught her actually looking (gasp!) casual after she had initially boarded the plane in her signature look of a dress and a big pair of sunglasses. "There was a wardrobe change. She got into sweats on the plane," Rebecca revealed. "Not a stitch of makeup. She looked beautiful. Her hair was a little jacked in the front, which was cute."
Shouldn't the editor-in-chief of Vogue know that there are comfortable yet still chic alternatives to sweatpants when it comes to traveling in style? But oh, to have been a fly on the wall of that plane.
