Ben Robinson Says His Relationship with Kate Chastain Is "Not Like It Used to Be"

Ben Robinson: "I Don't Like Working with You Anymore"

Not a Below Deck season has gone by when Ben Robinson and Kate Chastain didn't have conflict in the kitchen. But through it all, they always seemed to remain friends.

How to Watch

Watch Below Deck on Bravo Mondays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo App.

However, all of that seemed to change this season of Below Deck as the two had a heated discussion during the crew's last hurrah, and it seemed unclear if they would stay friendly, let alone work together again (clip above). When The Daily Dish caught up with Ben ahead of this season's Below Deck finale, he said that he had seen Kate a little bit since the season ended, but "it's not like it used to be."

But Ben couldn't really articulate why that was or why his relationship with some of his other crew members also seemed to change after this season of Below Deck. "I don't know. Maybe this show has kind of changed us a little bit or adversely affected our relationship. It's a lot of pressure from the public. And also within ourselves. You change," Ben explained. "It's a shame. I can't really put my finger on it, nor do I really want to say anything bad about anyone because I'm probably equally as bad as everyone, if not worse."

In fact, Ben said that he felt like this season's cast isn't as tight-knit as past Below Deck crews. "I feel that there's more distance now between the cast members than in any other season, and it's a shame because I would have loved for us to stay together," he shared. "And it's no one's fault; it's just the personalities involved. Including me. I'm to blame as well in this scenario."

However, Ben said that he is grateful that he was able to create such a strong bond with his girlfriend Emily Warburton-Adams, who he met when she joined the crew this season. "I think the bond between myself and Emily almost discounts the adversity of all the other cast members," Ben said.

Ben is also staying optimistic when it comes to the fate of his friendship with Kate and the rest of the Below Deck cast. He said he would "love to" repair these relationships in the weeks and months following the end of this season.

It looks like Ben has already started trying to make amends. He apologized to Kate for his behavior in Tuesday night's season finale on Twitter. "Emotion got the better of me tonight sorry @Kate_Chastain," he tweeted Tuesday. "[V]alue the friendship."

However, it doesn't seem like Kate is quite ready to move forward with Ben. "Aw look I got a tweet," she replied on Twitter Tuesday. "Almost as powerful as words on national television or a text."

Well, we're hoping that if Ben and Kate can make it through all of the drama of the last three seasons of Below Deck, they can make it through anything. Watch Kate discuss the evolution of her relationship with the chef over the years, below.
