Because we watched Bethenny Frankel's relationship with Jason Hoppy evolve from her time on Real Housewives of New York City to Bethenny Getting Married? to Bethenny Ever After…, we felt extra close to the couple—and took news of their December 2012 split hard.
Frankel's short and simple answer: "Fundamental differences."
In the wake of the couple's divorce, Frankel said she's learned a lot about how women cope with hard times. "I don't know how men operate in this way, but I have gained so much respect for women and how they can endure so many different things," she says.
"Being a mom, and getting their kids to school, and going to work, and dealing with personal issues. You don't get more than you can take. You keep moving and you prioritize."
In the grand scheme of things, Frankel said she's keeping things in perspective, which helps a lot. "The truth of the matter is, I've just been on a tour promoting the [my new talk show], I've met so many women, cancer survivors, people with special needs kids, really people going through so many difficult things. I'm so lucky, I'm so blessed. So you just say I'm going to come out on the other side and I'm going to realize why this all happened. And I can work through this with women on my show."
