Bevy Smith: Why Harlem Is the Hottest Neighborhood
The Fashion Queens star sounds off on Manhattan's best kept secret.
We've got The Real Housewives of New York City and the Million Dollar Listing New York agents taking much of Gotham by storm, but maybe it's time to look north of Central Park. Harlem is hoppin'—and one Bravoleb in particular is thrilled to represent such an incredible neighborhood.
Harlem has always been a classic cultural visit for the incredible food, jazzy bars and the illustrious Apollo Theater, where James Brown, the Jacksons and countless other stars have launched their careers from its stage. (Our own Jenni Pulos has taken a shot at music fame there, too!) Lately, celebs have been flocking to its bars and restaurants for extra helpings of red velvet cake, and it comes as no surprise to Fashion Queen and neighborhood know-how Bevy Smith.
In a recent profile, the New York Daily News walked through some of Harlem's most sought-after destinations and asked for Bevy's input.
"It's not new at all," says Bevy of this new wave of Harlem Fever. "Now, we just have more options. The playground has gotten bigger...Harlem has always been attractive—it's the culture that draws them in."
We love the Fashion Queens star for her keen eye, fab taste and ability to decide what's hot or not on the red carpet, but she's also one of Harlem's favorite socialites and a frequent hostess with the mostess at celebrity shindigs around 125th Street. She's a born and raised Harlemite, so we'll take her word for it!
