Blair Late's Boy Band Past

Look back at the ‘Newlyweds’ star’s pop music past!

Every Thursday, celebrate #TBT with us as we open the vault to share photos and videos of Bravolebrities before they were famous—or revisit memorable moments from our shows. This week, we’re throwing it back to Blair Late’s time in the boy band, B3.

While Bravo viewers came to know Blair Late as the sometimes over-the-top half to his then partner Jeff Pedersen on Season 1 of Newlyweds: The First Year, it turns out Newlyweds was hardly Blair’s first time in the spotlight. In addition to being an entertainment reporter and cardigan line designer, Blair also happens to be a retired pop star of the boy band, B3.

B3 never quite reached mega-fame in the U.S., but they were wildly popular in Germany where their hits rose up the music charts and even achieved gold record status.  So, we thought it would be fun to dig up some of B3’s music videos to see Blair in the act.

In “Tonight and Forever,” Blair exudes a brooding attitude with some fierce blond, spiked tips:

The irony of Blair convincingly pulling off being a ladies man in “All The Girls” is not lost on us:

We recently caught up with Blair to get the inside scoop on his boy band past.

The Dish: How did you become a member of B3?

Blair Late: I was going to UCLA and also had a solo single deal at Tommy Boy in N.Y. the summer before heading back to junior year. My single didn’t work out, but the owner of the label showed my stuff to the Berman Brothers, the producers behind B3 and VOILA! I was on a plane one week later to Madrid to shoot my first of many videos with the other two original members, my bros Tim and Johnnie!

The Dish: What's your favorite memory of being a part of B3?

BL: Performing around the world for audiences up to one million like at New Year’s Eve in Berlin in front of the Brandenburg Gate was pretty phenomenal! And my brothership with the other two members will last my lifetime!

The Dish: If you had to name your favorite B3 song, what would it be and why?

BL: “Ballerina” has always been one of my favorite lesser-known hits. It was originally titled “Angelina” after Mrs. Brad Pitt, but we changed the name last minute and I have always loves the melody!

Take a listen here:

The Dish: What was your favorite B3 music video?

BL: “All the Girls” was a BLAST! We shot in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was a wild and fabulous shoot! (Note: See video above)

The Dish: Do you keep in touch with any of your old band mates?

BL: We see each other at least once a year! I adore them!

The Dish: What was the best thing a fan ever said or did for you?

BL: Not sure if it was the best, but one time a fan sent me a photo of my name carved in to their arm. That was BEYOND strange!

The Dish: Having gone through finding love and being married on Bravo’s Newlyweds: The First Year, and now having gone through a divorce, is there a certain B3 song that speaks to you or expresses best what you've been going through?

BL: I’m just trying to fall back in love with myself and family and friends. I was pretty emotionally beat up, so taking time for me has been healing. I’m not sure if my cheesy boy band music gets me through the divorce, I leave that for Sara Bareilles.
