Bobby Giancola Had a Vital Reason for Totally Transforming His Body Before Below Deck Med

The #BelowDeckMed yachtie reveals all about his decision to get majorly fit many years ago.

When you think of Bobby Giancola, his fit bod immediately comes to mind (and we're more than OK with that, tbh). But there was actually a time when the Below Deck Mediterranean yachtie wasn't so ripped.

Bobby gave Below Deck Med fans a glimpse at his former physique in March when he posted a throwback photo next to one of him flaunting his famous six-pack abs in a more recent pic, showing an incredible body transformation over the past five years.

Well, Below Deck Med fans were astounded by this, and so were we. So when The Daily Dish caught up with Bobby earlier this spring, we had to ask him how he went about making such a major change in his life. "A few years back, I dated a girl whose mom was a chef, and all we did was eat and drink beer. So I had a beer gut," Bobby explained to The Daily Dish. "I got into the fire department. Being that I needed to be healthy and be able to lift things and not break my back. I decided, OK, I just got to get in the gym. I started a regimen, and I stuck to it."

Bobby admitted that he has "kind of fell off the wagon a little bit" recently, but he's determined to "jump back on." For the record, we think Bobby looks as hunky as ever. We mean, just look at these photos. Need we say more?

In fact, Bobby said he was purely motivated by himself to change his lifestyle and get healthy all those years ago. "Nothing inspired me, not a person or a thing, it was just myself. I just started noticing I'm tired all the time. I'm a fireman. I need to be strong. I want my partner to rely on me. If he's going down, he knows I can pull him out. And I just wasn't in the shape I needed to be in to be the best fireman that I could be," he said. "So I was just like, OK, I'm done drinking. I stopped drinking for three or four months. I started doing a meal plan and working out every day. The result of that was what I posted on Instagram."

Now when Bobby needs some motivation to stay in shape, he just looks back at how far he's come in the past five years. "So when ever I feel like I'm getting off track I looked at that and it ignites the #fire inside to get back at it!" Bobby captioned the above photo about his body transformation on Instagram.

Well, working on a yacht will certainly whip anyone back into shape. Watch Bobby flex his muscles, below.
